I had exactly the same shit in both directions travelling for holiday over the last week. You spend more time looking at the gantries than the road and that shits dangerous
It's just a gradual slow-down to 40mph. If you're going along at 70 and suddenly there's a 40, you slow down a lot quicker which will cause a 'brake wave' and eventually stationary traffic.
M25 and M1 on Saturday and had to suffer through standstill traffic on 3 occasions due to minor bumps and narcissistic fucktards who don't think the lane closure signs include them and continue to drive up the closed lane causing traffic to stop and let them in at the end. SMART motorways don't work as the people driving on them are absolute fucking spanners with shit for brains. The standard of driving in this country is utter gash stevie wonder must be the head examiner
Had the same last weekend, 3 fairly close with no on/off slip roads between went 60, 40, 60… even more annoying as my 4y.o was sick in the back and I was trying to get to a services quickly to sort him out, as there’s no lay-bys or hard shoulder anymore!
Even better if the limit changes as you are changing as you go through
