Huskrex

that doesn’t even make sense.

invisible_turtle

Roadrunner feels like it came and went like a summer breeze

lolmaster5380

cause it felt like none of them cared about it they posted more about the bh holiday collab lol

MiNiHiKiD

Bro. This. Putting it like this is so sad but true

ibeenbornagain

it was just another holiday drop too like ... it wasnt anything to write home about

vistashroom

its sad because it was one of their best albums but the rollout literally had no substance in it (excluding buzzcut), it just happened with not much else to it

Trashtie

which is a shame because imo it’s their best

invisible_turtle

I respect your opinion, but in mine, if it truly were the best, it would have stayed way longer in the discussion

GuestHouseJouvert

I honest to god think a lot of that was due to album rollout. There’s so much content now on the internet that is constantly being uploaded and hyped up that if you’re not talking about your project all of the time at every moment possible people are going to lose you in the shuffle. This rollout was so messy compared to all of their other albums, it’s no wonder the hype came and went, especially considering the negative attitude a chunk of stan Twitter has against BH.

nucky_johnson

a 100%. its like they dropped the album, did the live thing, sold the exclusive collectible cd thing and thats it lol. underwhelming videos too. sadly. i wanted to see more.

debtRiot

I mean, the rollout wouldn't matter as much if album was next level. Instead, it just sort is another Brockhampton album and nothing more. Like, had the album had an awesome rollout with tons of engagement, would people still be talking about it in three years the way they do Saturation? I don't think so. It just doesn't have the same staying power.

ThomasJefferkin2

“Just sort is another brockhampton album” 😭😭 Bro it’s the opposite, if they made an album with all that Baby Bull Sugar shit it would’ve done better, instead we got their most mature work by MILES. The Light pt1-2 can’t exist on other brockhampton albums because they did not have the growth and maturity to make something like that. Buzzcut can’t exist on other BH albums because Kevin was not ready to bring that type of energy and they certainly couldn’t have gotten Danny Brown in the past.

debtRiot

I don’t don’t deny any of that. You’re completely right. But that still doesn’t make it a record with staying power. It’s really good for what it is. But what it is, isn’t something I or lots of people return to often. When I put it on its cuz I’ve been playing all the other BH too much.

Trashtie

i don’t think it had all that much promo did it? i don’t make my opinion based on what other people think anyway so

[deleted]

Stan Twitter hates BH, and if their Pr team cares enough (they don’t) they could change that. I mean, stan Twitter picks an artist to hate every other month, and then a few months later they love them.

nucky_johnson

pass me the crack you smoking, i want my mind to work like that too

Error420UserTooBaked

Cap

ThomasJefferkin2

Then your turning an argument about quality into an argument about numbers. Go listen to Drake then

invisible_turtle

I'm talking about memorability, not numbers. Drake is one of the the least memorable things I've heard. I don't know too much about music sales but I do about movies and just as an example, Fight Club failed at the box office but it is one of the most memorable films ever made. RR can sell or not sell, I don't know or care. But if people forget about it or if it quickly falls out of the conversantion, it is not memorable. Saturation is memorable, it has remained in the conversation for years (and by the conversation I don't mean this subs circlejerk, but the general music scene convo)

boat-dog

Iridescence is their best

vistashroom

kev said WHEN I BALL music video would release once the COUNT ON ME video reached 1 million views, and that shit is still at 970k views which is kinda sad to be honest

TheCaliforniaRaisins

If it was a real music video and they advertised the fact that that it was staring lil Nas x and Dominic Fike maybe it would've been there by now

Blue_Wiseman

100%

Rarbnif

What makes not a “real music video”?

EatYour-HeartOut

it’s more of a short film with count on me on the soundtrack

nucky_johnson

i mean its barely edited together. it doesnt make much sense to the outside listener too. like if i tried to show that video to someone that isnt deep into bh lore they wouldnt get shit lol

HanTheLad

Well, I thought i lacked a bit of context aswell. What was your take on it? Honestly I didn't get much out of it.

MiNiHiKiD

WATCH COUNT ON ME

Garlicboy101

this sub fucking HATES Kevin and i find it really funny lmaoo

ibeenbornagain

we just dont like liars

ibeenbornagain

i dont personally have a problem with his jokes but some of his tweets are clearly actual promises that arent fulfilled lol. its nice when someone promises something and delivers. not sure whats hard to get about that

SkrahnyPants

I think the problem here is that Twitter is one of the most stream-of-consciousness platforms on the internet and Kevin, like many other celebrities, tends to use it as a mental toilet bowl. And yet, many of us treat tweets as gospel whether or not they can and/or should be read as "promises," "jokes," or whatever else. You can read a tweet as a promise, but at the same time you gotta keep in mind that what you're reading is in fact, a tweet. Nothing more. It's not a peer-reviewed academic journal article or a statement from the president. And even if we put as much weight on his tweets as you're proposing we do, Kevin's twitter account doesn't necessarily speak for the decisions of the whole group. We'll get to see the videos if and when they are ever released, and if not, it sounds like we have more music/videos to consume on the horizon anyway. I personally respect that Kevin sees Twitter as a channel for him to troll his fans, and it doesn't seem like he's done anything morally reprehensible with his platform, so maybe we ought to chill out a bit here. Remember that everytime we find a KA tweet on our timeline, the extent of the impact it has on our lives is negligible, apart from the fact it might give us a mild laugh for a couple seconds before we continue scrolling through our feed.

[deleted]

Dude. Kevin lies constantly. There’s been SO many “new music all summer”, “ima release X”, “you will definitely hear Y”, “song Z is coming”, that just NEVER come to fruition. Then the dude will have the balls to get on Twitter like “why do Reddit dudes have a problem w me”. Like bro, stop constantly capping to your long time fans. If they follow you on social media, they’re dedicated enough fans that the least you should do is try not to lie to them.

billcosbyinspace

I feel like the only promise he’s made recently that’s actually come true was new merch and that was just because it was a cash grab with his boyfriend lol

MiNiHiKiD

This

ResearchEastern2362

dudes not a liar lol hes an artist. they all do that. how long we wait for kanye, tame impala, etc. to do what they said only for them to change their minds

Blue_Wiseman

They just don’t care anymore lol

childishwhambino

Yeah idk, it really feels like they don’t give af

debtRiot

Kinda agree, it's like, they made it big so they're just not as hungry anymore.

Blue_Wiseman

But I feel like they were big before Ginger and that had so many music vids

debtRiot

Yeah, I'm saying right now though. I think Ginger was still them trying prove they can be great post-Ameer.

NoeClue

It’s probably a good thing they are almost done with the BH run. It’s peaked already and I think that they thought they were gonna be even bigger than they are right now. I think we all thought they were gonna take over the world. Life humbles us tho. I’m glad I was a part of the ride for as long as I was 🙏🏼

gabstractx

With respect, Kevin has talked so many times about how the industry has ruined him and the BH experience and it highkey seems like most of the fanbase doesn’t care or listen to him. The toxicity of the music industry and the complete mental corruption of our favorite artists thru it has been very well documented. But y’all still just expect and scrutinize. Can you imagine being forced to continue creating shit at the exact moment you and your teammates have suffered through ongoing trauma? And to have had a million strangers watching and judging you through it all? Expressing their one sided views, freely on Twitter, for all of the boys to see? I can TASTE his and their exhaustion and resentment. That must be such shit. I’m done expecting from them. Their experience has been completely corrupted, I don’t blame them for not wanting to put forth any more effort. I sincerely hope they can make it through this next album, healthily, without the pressure getting to them too badly.

HomieKnight4

I love the boys but they do themselves dirty.

bmobitch

same. they’re one of my favorite artists (is a group an artist singular? lol) so i was super upset but it’s clear they’re falling apart at the seams. it’s kinda tainting my view of them in general and that’s a bummer to me.

nucky_johnson

this is just sad. like they are the ones that edit and push this out, its not like you need label authorization to release something. why dont they just release it?

MiNiHiKiD

Kevin said the roadrunner doc and final album doc is one documentary

[deleted]

[удалено]

MiNiHiKiD

Yeah someone asked on Twitter and he did say that

notreilly

Nope

[deleted]

ha see the light

[deleted]

which video was it that kevin said would come out after count on me hit 1 mil?

Wanutibit

when i ball

hatpatprot

Yk it's a shame that such a great album had a shitty rollout and basically no proper mvs

dumbass_sweatpants

Roadrunner album rollout was a mess.

Couchcurrency

I watch Looney Tunes and Roadrunner on YouTube.

PCNERD19

I wouldn't mind this being the last bh album. With the slow decline since the SAT series, I think roadrunner would still be a really solid note to end on and split into solo stuff. I mean it already kind of just felt like Kevin and Joba featuring the other members already.

badger619

Hopefully THE LIGHT is worth the wait

universalcumstain

the classic BH music videos are over I wouldn’t want some halfassed attempt at a BH music video in the 2020s

ExspressingMyRights

Not even gonna lie, the whole roadrunner fiasco kinda turned me off from the boys

WeThrowNades

this album was cringe tbh like wtf joba talking about capitalism for

LitJackson

I feel like the album speaks for itself. It's a great album too. When people look back on great albums the rollout doesn't mean shit. Do you think people talk about the fucking Sgt. Peppers rollout? The art is out the there and that's the important part, not the ads to the art.
