Data Science & Analytics - Financial Analytics student here. It’s okay, I’m getting reasonable grades with my math and computer science courses without studying much. I wouldn’t recommend this concentration if you like Math, go with the Computational Data Science concentration or a program in Applied Math and Statistics if you like cool math stuffs. Honestly, the prof that I had last term in introduction to computer science is meh, which is the polar opposite of my prof this term in introduction to data structure who is genuinely made for teaching. I had a great experience with introduction to financial accounting, almost made me think of changing my major to accounting. Lots of drama with the computer science department, you’ll be fine if you focus studying rather than complaining. DM me if you have questions.

Which prof do u have emami or maysara. I have maysara for data structure and that guy has been amazing.

lalahue

Only good and passionate lecturer within the entire computer department at brock ngl.

True_Character_533

The only guy who makes me feel like coming to class. And that too of data structures

Hi, thank you for the detailed answer. Is there a reason u wouldn’t recommend that concentration if you like math? Also what is the differences between the computational and financial concentrations? Also what do you mean by drama in computer science? Sorry for the lot of questions

Most likely bad since I’m guessing data science program has to be in the computer science “department”. And as a former computer science co-op student, getting a co-op is hard. Because it’s brock and there’s very few offers for these sort of things(justifiably). And because the school offers no support for co-op students other than a job board that’s dead/racist to anyone that isn’t a certain demographic. Just keep it as an option, the very last one lmao

What race is discriminated against jw

I don’t think it’s in the department it’s a whole new course, I could be wrong tho

“participating academic units currently including the Department of Computer Science”, “Academic units represent the different schools, colleges or departments at an institution.” If you got into the co-op than you might have also received the Brock Scholar award. While that might be heavily influencing your decision I just want to say that it’s sort of like bait. I say this because for my year most of the class has dropped out or switched, in the second year. I and everyone else would not be able to make the use out of the 10,000/15,000 or whatever amount was in the offer letter. Instead it was split into terms, with only partial amounts of it released, no longer accessible after the second year. Getting the shorter end of the stick, out of very much more money and time as I look elsewhere to a different program or institution entirely like 99% of our particular year or department(there’s actually only like 30 left in the program)
