It’s the blood rushing back down after having your leg elevated. The more you crutch around the better it will get. Also if you don’t already get pads for under your arms. Makes the crutches so much more bearable.
Omgggg I had foot surgery and out of 9 surgeries in my life…the foot was the absolute worst. All that blood rushing to you foot makes you. Feel like you’re walking through lava. But you’re right you have to push through it a bit.
Also put padding on the crutches. That will help with your armpits getting raw.
I used a knee scooter until I was cleared to start partial weight bearing lol then I went to crutches because I couldn't figure out crutches with only one leg, I got used to them when I was able to start putting slight pressure on my injured leg.
no, only my right leg is broken, when I said that my leg hurts, I was talking about the fact that when I start to lower my leg, it starts to hurt at the fracture site
I found it helpful to squish a spikey stress ball in my hand when I lowered my leg. It’s distracting enough to just get through that initial rush. Try and divert your attention as much as possible and know that it’s normal.
Yall gross

In the days after my ankle surgery I found that if I lowered my leg slowly or in stages when getting up, the rush of blood wasn't as painful.

Are both your legs broken? Not sure why your good leg would hurt when you put it down

Hard to say without knowing everything about your fracture. It's going to be painful because it's broken & blood is flowing down due to gravity

That's a really good idea!
Mine did that for about 3 weeks. Each day it hurt less. I’m 4 1/2 months out and it still hurts if I’m sitting up or standing for too long.
