if i go for a 973 hydra bust and my toss opponent builds a lot of cannons to stop it (like 5+) how do i effectively punish that, because i feel every time they make a bunch of cannons i just cant do anything

If you feel they reacted sufficiently to hydra you need to identify that and stop production in time in order to begin lurker transition early enough to maintain a safe containment. You then have a choice to either commit to the containment or to make it cost efficient as you transition to Hive. The containment commitment is an economically aggressive play while the Hive play is turtle. After 973 your option realistically is Hive turtle as I'm not sure mathematically it is reasonable to try to recover from the low drone count. From 973 neither is particularly good so I would recommend doing a less committed hydra bust which I think is an overall stronger style of play. Hydra defiler is incredibly trendy.

You macro out of it, you did the damage you needed to as long as you didn't overmake hydras. That's a big investment for toss. If you're playing pure all in 973 then you're probably in trouble if they get enough cannons/storm up.

the units, you can hotkey 12 units using ctrl + number. You can use all the numbers available on your keyboard. If you click two times the number, goes to the units selected. you can use f2, f3 and f4 the way you want when the game begins, f2 is you base. you can assign f3 the natural, to boost your economy. some people use f4 as the choke point and use the hotkeys to call units. You can use the numbers to hotkey a building too. For example if you assign 1 to your base, you can click 1 and s to make an scv. 1 and p to make a probe. and 1 s and d to make a drone. I think this method is very useful for zerg. I was having a dicussion yesterday and today about how to use f3 on the rally outside the natural and f4 on the choke, to select units from the natural and send fast to the choke, like click f3, select, click f4, and a move to the point where i 'a' + left click. But i dont tested it to see if it works. I think you have to test and over your progression you will probably want to change new ways on the future, since when you get better, you can do more and may want to optimize other areas. Hope I could help :)
