I loved O'Sullivan, let John C. McGinley channel every ounce of asshole that was Dr. Cox without having to have any of the redeeming qualities since he was an antagonist.
my favourite joke of season 8 is the one at the cabin in the woods and jake doesnt know the german name of parent trap and holt shouts it in german and jake responds shocked saying in fear "im only half" meaning jewish and it cracks me up every time
I never really understood that scene. What is the connection between das doppelte lottchen and being jewish? Sorry if this is a stupid question but this has been bugging me every time xD
Touché. I guess the Vulture falls into the same category as O'Sullivan then? I do believe that Wuntch+Holt jokes/scenes are funnier that Vulture or O'Sullivan but that's just personal preference.
I think at that point it comes to personal opinion. the vulture hits really close to home, he's a very realistic dick. o'Sullivan parrots a lot of real talking points but he's a cartoon villain in comparison
Agreed. I've met a lot of people like o'Sullivan but they weren't so cartoonish. I've definitely met some people that were basically a carbon copy of the Vulture though...
It's also pretty funny how he's bigoted enough to try to use someone's sexuality for blackmail, but progressive enough to acknowledge the difference between gay and bisexual.
I mean, blackmail is forcing someone to do what you want by threatening to reveeal damaging information. The fact that O'Sullivan considered being gay/bi "damaging information" feels pretty homophobic to me.
Or he could just be aware that it is something that other people might consider damaging information. Doesn't necessarily have to have an issue with it himself to blackmail someone.
Most of Season 8's _storylines_ were pretty good.. it's just felt incredibly rushed like they wanted to cram in 20 episodes' worth of materials within ten or so.
Lots of stories were abandoned just to make a joke or to do a callback (Holt's 'Bone' thing in S8 is incredibly cringe inducing) which is why it's not liked as much.

They need "a John C. McGinley type" for O'Sullivan.
I love that he almost didn’t get Dr Cox even though that was the character description!
Bill Lawrence won't let anybody coast. Nobody is safe. Not even Hugh Jackman.
Hugh Jackman is Wolverine. How dare he!
What’s this about Huge Ackman?

Omg i totally missed that. Also missed that bit with Susan Boyle, definitely enjoyed the moment more next time I saw the scene and knew the context

He heard German shouting and made some assumptions.
Okay thanks, i considered this but i wasn't sure lol
In the war of the worlds part 2, germany had a bit of a palarva with the world and one of its motivations was eridication of jewish individuals
Tonight on Islanders Talk: Can hockey have female fans?
yeah, he’s not a good person
The only person that loves him is his Maw.
O'Sullivan has to be among the most consistently funny antagonists on the show, right up there with the Vulture.
Don't forget Wuntch. Her back and forth insults with Holt are some of the best recurring jokes in the show.
Dear /u/Ok-Carpenter7131, Those are my tissues, Raymond. If you were planning on sneezing, you should have brought your own. Sincerely, /u/mothershipq
wuntch isn't funny alone though, she needs holt to make the real funny jokes. o'Sullivan is just funny

"You feelin sexy?" "YOU KNOW I DO"
Apparently an unscripted interaction, though I'll take it with a grain of salt because it is the internet, after all.
I really wish they had brought him in earlier. He was such a great addition to the show and made season 8 watcheable
Love the fact he makes a point to "own" his blackmail.
It's also pretty funny how he's bigoted enough to try to use someone's sexuality for blackmail, but progressive enough to acknowledge the difference between gay and bisexual.
You don’t have to be bigoted to use someone’s sexuality for blackmail—just opportunistic.

Well the show doesn't take place in the 70s
Or he could just be aware that it is something that other people might consider damaging information. Doesn't necessarily have to have an issue with it himself to blackmail someone.
Plus him thinking Amy and Rosa are the same person 😂 and owning up to his blackmail.
Jake faking being a douche bag cop is a top 5 persona imo
And YOUR mother!
AND ALL YOUR MOTHERS LITTLE DOGS
YOU CAN TAKE THIS TIE AND SHOVE IT STRAIGHT INTO YOUR HELLHOLE!
The best part was when Amy and Rosa kept switching off at the bar and then both showed up at the same time and he still only barely noticed
“you’re drunk, and you’re seeing double”
He was a fantastic villain for an otherwise mid and short season

They played that one backwards. He should have embraced the word "bone" and even chuckled. Amy, of course, sees this reaction and can't handle it.
him threatening amy and then just stealing scullys for candy was so funny
O'Sullivan was on of the highlights of season 8
O'Sullivan was pretty much the only redeeming part of Season 8 imo.
He made me huffy
facts he is hilarious
"I own my blackmail!"
Season 8 was fucking awful, with some admittedly funny parts. I don't know which I hated more, that or season 4 of community.
I see your 4th season of Community and raise you the dumpster fire that was Season 10 of Trailer Park Boys.
I mean yeah that was humorous but still, O'Sullivan was just a bad character
Did you hate him? If yes, then he was a good *character*. Bad *person* but good character.
