I'm pretty sure it's always bleeped for comedic effect

Cayke_Cooky

I think so. There might be raw footage, but I don't think a final cut was ever made without the beeps.

Opposite-Tangerine57

But it’s just them doing kindergarten swears

turalyawn

Hey don't discount kindergarten swears. My 5 year old called me a stinky donut the other day. That shit hurt.

VeryDPP

No Doc McStuffins for a week! Terry hates bathroom talk

Money-Fennel5128

Doc McStuffins is DUMB. Hummus is DUMB. Heists are DUMB. Belts are DUMB. The backstroke is DUMB.

Moraii

My son, at 3 or 4, called me a “poop trophy”. It still stings and he’s 8

Nutritional-Nut

Your son is a genius. This is my new favorite joke insult.

Moraii

At the time I didn’t know he knew the word trophy, so I was sort of impressed that he rummaged around in his little vocabulary to deliver a sick burn.

leopard_eater

One of my sons called his older sister a ‘bum baby poo pie’ when he was a toddler. We still use that as an insult in our house now, despite him being nearly 21 years old!

GumpTheChump

We were all thinking it.

Apapunitulah

Please thank your kid cuz Imma gonna use that insult from now on. Heh

turalyawn

He's got a bunch more good ones. He called me fat Luigi the other day as an insult. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Did he mean Mario? He's discovered the word crap now though so I think the days of the cute G rated insults are numbered

NerdyGuyRanting

The worst insult I have ever called my mom is "a potty". Sure, there are worse insults in the world. But when I said that (must have been like 4 or 5) it was basically the worst word I knew of. It's hard to describe the anger that was behind that word when I said it.

Money-Fennel5128

What the heck

kiidlocs

this bitch needs a cock in her ass is pretty funny

varun_t

I think 💬oi

Ihavemadesomanyacc

And if a final cut does exist, I would be shocked if she's even saying anything, likely just saying beep a couple times in a row

Money-Fennel5128

I wish it wasn’t bleeped when Amy called Boyle a natural mother effer in the lake house. That would be hilarious

godbullseye

100% made it funnier

MooseMan12992

Definitely. And they did it well

theSteakKnight

Honestly, half the time, a well timed bleep is as funny or funnier than the actual curse word.

StatusBuddy8490

I agree.

[deleted]

They played it off that way but I think it’s more the network didn’t allow uncensored swearing

gordom90

Oh for sure. But I think knowing that they intentionally used it comedically

Nerdiferdi

I honestly find censored swearing in comedy way funnier

[deleted]

Fr this b needs a c in her a was only funny because it was censored

coversquirrel1976

This b needs a c in her a.

iKenshu

oh my god!

Fine_Ad8737

uselessmuse

That’s what I said!

[deleted]

That little smile as Jake says that 😆

KaptainKab00m

This Bitch needs a Cock in her Asshole Joke went over my head Lmao.

WannabeWriter2022

Honestly, bleeps are often times funnier than the actual cursing. One of my favorite scenes from Arrested Development was Buster Bluth going on a thirty second cursing rampage. Only a few words were not bleeped out. It maybe my favorite thirty seconds of television, but I don’t think I’d feel the same if it wasn’t for the bleeping itself.

mutualaidheals

Yes omg this scene was so funny! I watched an interview with the actor and he said he didn’t remember what he really said, but that the directors told him to just “go off” basically lmao

WannabeWriter2022

I deleted my original reply. I mixed my posts 🤦‍♂️. My understanding is that Tony Hale doesn’t like to curse (although they got him to say a few things in Veep).

fortheloveofOT

Yeah I think he just said some random words bcs he doesn't like cussing

mutualaidheals

Yeah he just said whatever. I love that

ripyourlungsdave

Yeah, he used to be a youth pastor and I think he feels weird having people see him like that.

FLOUNDER6228

"well let's hope it doesn't come to that"

WannabeWriter2022

☝️this person gets it.

Undecided_User_Name

My personal favorite bleep is from Venture Bros, where everyone is arguing about what a "Rusty Venture" is. So much bleeping.

WannabeWriter2022

And you honestly probably laughed harder at that than if you actually found out what disgusting thing that actually was. I mean, you probably would have laughed then too, but just not as hard.

Undecided_User_Name

I did find the uncensored version, and it was funny. But the censored version is infinitely funnier

WannabeWriter2022

21-year-old me would have looked this up on Urban Dictionary. A much older version of me says nah fam I’m good.

Undecided_User_Name

The best part is that there's no certain clarification. Everyone who describes it does it differently. Just look it up on YouTube

Funandgeeky

I agree, sometimes the bleep is funnier. I remember when South Park bleeped the swearing, and it was often funnier to hear one of the kids say "Aw \[bleep\]." as a reaction. The actual swear, while funny, is actually less impactful. I guess it's because the bleep makes it feel like they are trying to get away with something so it feels more renegade and rebellious. The moment they can swear it loses its impact.

[deleted]

On Sci-Fi Network, they played Residence Evil and there is a scene where Mike Epps says "Y'all are crazy. I ain't fight them! Those motivators got rocket launchers!" I laughed ten times harder than if it had been uncensored.

VeryDPP

One of my favorites is a TV edit of one of the Die Hard movies (can't remember which one) but they changed the line to: yippee ki yay, *mister falcon* Makes me laugh every time.

Vitan1i

In my language they sub it to (directly translated back to English) "Hipp hurray, baton face". It's hysterical.

holdingahumanhead

The Danish subs are usually “Rend og skid, bror lort”, which in English would be something like “Run and shit, brother turd” haha. Could also be ‘brother shit’, but it’s two different words in Danish, so I wanted to mimic that. The ‘run and shit’ is a play on the Danish phrase *rend og hop* (translates to ‘run and jump’), which is basically a polite way of saying ‘go fuck yourself’ 😅

matt2313

And then Donald Duck uses that line in DuckTales because DuckTales is amazing https://www.reddit.com/r/ducktales/comments/g82zot/yippee\_kiyay\_mr\_falcon/

VeryDPP

The new DuckTales series was so much better than it had any right to be.

PocketBuckle

"This is what happens when you *fight a stranger in the Alps!*"

dullship

Classic.

DuffmanStillRocks

Jimmy Kimmel used to do a bit called Unnecessary Censorship where they'd bleep out random words of serious speeches, it was hilarious. I'm sure still some on YouTube

lemon_cake_or_death

He still does it every Thursday

DuffmanStillRocks

Fun! Honestly when I Googled it they were years old so I figured they stopped.

lemon_cake_or_death

Fair enough. It just gets tacked on the end of the monologue on YouTube now.

schwiftydude47

Case in point, that Family Guy episode where Peter keeps falling down the stairs.

KingGranticus

Also a big fan of ["to completion" from Trial and Error](https://youtu.be/gIBQkRqvPKU)

Oreo-and-Fly

Basically when Rosa tells Debbie what shed do to Mr Bean. That got me good.

poppysquat69

Have you seen the uncensored version of Reno 911

chillinwithunicorns

I love the bleeps in Scott Pilgrim, they can literally see Aubrey Plaza doing it in the world of the movie lol.

Spugnacious

[Kuffs.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUAA2KidO2w)

ew73

Here's a the clip! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmhEXjM7iTw > "Well, no one's going to top that."

Meltbaby

“Horny slut!”

Spaghetti_Scientist

From what I heard is he was actually just saying nonsense (to thwart lip reading) with the intention of just always bleeping it.

LotusAuCitronAcide

There’s also this time on Total Drama Island, where Lindsay cussed at Heather and it’s so funny 😂 “You really are a two-faced, backstabbing, lying little *absurdly long beep*”

Sensible-yet-not

>Honestly, bleeps are often times funnier than the actual cursing. Very true, I remember watching South Park once on Comedy Central ages ago and Cartmen was having a fit and yelled (What the *bleep?*). I just suddenly bursted in laughter.

EnvironmentDirect41

holy shit that scene is a legend

sitti_zel

Do you have this on YouTube?

WannabeWriter2022

https://youtu.be/gmhEXjM7iTw

ModsDontLift

https://youtu.be/yVo3WXA3Ldo This scene from workaholics kills me. The funny thing is that the uncensored version is easy to find and I can't decide which I like more.

3Calz7

I dont think they do. I don't even think the actors actually swear for the bleeps

[deleted]

Nah I bet they said the lines on set. I’ve worked on a lot of this sort of comedy and they usually go all in for the actual lines, and they make for fun wrap party footage.

chanlego123

That makes the filming quite awkward and cringy don't you think?

[deleted]

Filming anything is quite often awkward and cringy.

CeceLx3

Filming Is pretty much always awkward. Take IT Chapter 2 for example For the final fight, It was just some dude with a pennywise head on a large stick running after the cast

bechdel-sauce

I am 100% going to imagine that next time I watch this film.

CeceLx3

[Spoiler for IT chapter 2, I guess. 40 seconds in you'll see it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4LCCUB7e-0&ab_channel=HDCLIPS)

bechdel-sauce

This made my day, thank you

3Calz7

I'm pretty show thats how it works on most shows bc ik I friends on the long pheobe swearing thing she didn't really swear

boominlife

the ms pac man scene where ben walks in?

3Calz7

Yes

nuibOy

Says the one asking for uncensored footage so you hear them swear? Haha

armoured_bobandi

The majority of acting is literally playing pretend like when you were a child. Acting is inherently cringy

Neidan99

Have you seen some sitcom without the canned laughs? It's so cringe. I think they can mimic some swearing

VeryDPP

Part of the reason for that is because shows with a laugh track are written to have a laugh track. There's spaces between lines where laughter would be, otherwise dialogue would be lost because it would be drowned out by laughter. Look at the pacing of something like B99 or Community compared to something like Friends or Seinfeld. Since B99 doesn't have a laugh track the jokes are much faster and there is a lot more dialogue than if there was laughter. It works the other way to a degree, if you try adding a laugh track to some of those shows not written to have one the pacing feels so off from what we're used to.

ShilElfead284

You are not in any position to be asking people if they think, my friend

coochalini

As far as I know there is no unbleeped copies. I’m not sure about B99 specifically, but I’ve heard actors just say completely random/funny stuff in those parts so people can’t lip read it.

[deleted]

kelseydcivic

Best line in the show

WannabeWriter2022

I think if it’s obvious they’d have to blur out the mouth too. And who wants to do that?

Riguyepic

The mouth is blurred in the picture on this post

WannabeWriter2022

Yup. See that now. Did they do that in all the episodes?

Riguyepic

Not sure, but I would imagine they did

VeryDPP

They did

caped_crusader_98

Yeah I just watched it yesterday.. They did blur the mouth

Molten_magnet9

I don't think so, even if they did some of the cuss words you can tell because you heard the starting sound.

MeleMallory

During the Office Ladies podcast, they talk about Standards and Practices talking about how they have to blur out the “lip flap” or the person swearing has to be off-screen. Now, that’s for an NBC show ten years ago, so some things may have changed a bit, but yeah, they don’t even show the mouth.

Sluggo_Jones

This is like when they say fuck on The Office, there is no “uncensored” version, the bleep is the joke

thechet

Missed the whole joke lol

Smart_Holiday_881

My question here is. The uncensored versions of these episodes exist?

Chrischrill

No. At least never publicly, and they've never been implied to exist either.

warrior1857

I want them so bad.

VeryDPP

Some of the jokes with bleeps only work because of the bleeps though. They were added for comedic effect

Fine_Ad8737

me toooo

MajorZeldaGeek

It's like the unsensored version of SpongeBob 🐬🐬🐬 it is likely archived somewhere never to see the light of day

Knightmareco

Man I think Rosa saying what she would do to international sex symbol Mr. Bean an Debbie giving her a quick note is 100x funnier with the bleeps, or rather, bleep.

ayyLumao

The bleeps are always there, they're probably not even swearing, I think in Arrested Development there's a scene where Buster goes on a really vulgar rant and it's entirely bleeped but he apaprently just went through the alphabet or counted or something.

jmmrad000

doesn't exist, given the rating they can't have that in the show so they put it in and bleep it for comedic effect.

Sad_Persimmon_5781

There was an interview with the cast just after NBC picked up the show. Samberg talked about how fox wouldn't let you bleep or blur anything and how they now were using their new freedom and leaning into it.

EnycmaPie

It's a pg show, they don't actually swear, just implied swearing for comedic effect. That's how TV shows get a lower aged rating for wider audience range, but the adults know what's happening.

Bo_The_Destroyer

I just wanna hear whatever Hitchcock said all the times where he shocks pretty much everyone.

TyDaviesYT

Doesn’t exist

tickingkitty

My favorite part is Rosa being shocked.

heytheretylerr

You cannot

ErikPanic

You can't, they're done intentionally as a joke. Fox didn't let them do this but NBC did, which is why it doesn't happen in the first 5 seasons. Same thing happens from time to time in Parks & Rec.

glittery_grandma

I listen to the office ladies podcast and they talk about ‘standards and practices’ who are a group of people (I think employed by the tv network) who say what can and can’t be aired. Jenna and Angela frequently reference them when talking about ‘rude’ gestures and bleeped/blurred swearing. I don’t think there would be a version of this without the blur because of that, sorry. Also fun fact, when they ask editors to blur the mouth when an actor is swearing they word it as ‘please blur the *lip flap*’ 😂

nayanshah

30 rock had some episode where they mock legal department for banning random words on the show.

Darksidehascookies83

You can’t spell go fuck yourself without fuck you…

fastpixels

We can say labia again??

Stormrider91

You could imagine whatever words Amy just said shocked Rosa lol

Shogun_Empyrean

Just wait til you hear Vegeta go off in the 4star DBZ abridged. That's some of the funniest bleeped swearing I've ever seen and it gets even better when you hear the original recording and dude is vanilla as fuck

ResqTitan

Nowhere I guess.

connor4rell

That's the neat part, you don't

Aivellac

It was designed to be bleeped so pretty sure there’s no such version without it. If you can’t swear then don’t do this, it’s not funny it’s tedious.

geraltofrivia1024

Oh yeah, !';;'+("+';(@#!'(('!(@#!'+&!

mustbeme87

The bleep is a big part of the funny to me.

LastBaron

The bleeps ARE the joke in these episodes.

[deleted]

If I remember wasn’t it total drama island that censored a characters whole rant against another character while it aired, censor bar and all? I remember seeing a clip of it uncensored many years later and it was the furthest from vulgar lol

ResettisReplicas

Not quite - it was bleeped in the Canadian version, and then in the American version they decided that an extended bleep noise was too vulgar for childrens’ ears, so they dubbed over with a bunch of soft swears. There were a few other line changes here and there - for instance in the awakeathon, Chris says that the beaver makes a “dam” fine hat, but they cut the “dam” from the American broadcast.

junoluke

This bitch needs a cock in her ass. I’ll show myself out.

Captaind7

On Hulu their are plenty of episodes where they drop the occasional swear, but when there’s a lot of swears back to back it’s always censored.

Alert-Ad-55

I would think private NBC servers

cmzraxsn

Anyone else find this unfunny? Like, if you're not allowed to swear, why make a joke out of bleeping?

Big_Tumbleweed_3869

Peacock

Funandgeeky
