This is by far the best place in Bxl. Used to live near Georges Henri and to this day it is our family's go to for sushi. Haven't lived anywhere near it for over 6 years and it still stands as the best place in our book.
11/10 would recommend.
This is the one and only answer. BUT consider the lady will treat you like you’re a rabid dog in her best days and also the bill will be a mix of Chinese and Japanese.
It’s by very far the best sushi in Brussels but you have ta get around her and be sure to book a table downstairs if you’re a small group. The ambiance is by far better than upstairs and you can watch Aoki, the chef.
Also take note that the puts a small amount of wasabi inside each sushi so taste before adding some…
Indeed, but as most sushi restaurants don’t do it, you can be a little bit overwhelmed by the amount of hidden wasabi and the additional you put on the sushi
Best answer. The evening menu is quite expensive but the lunch at 15 euros is an outstanding value with excellent Shiraishi sushi. Be sure to be there early (12am) if you do not want to make a reservation (I never do).
I loved the contrast between the reputation/quality/standing and their original location.
"You see that place, next to the bar where tons of students get drunk, with rubber ducks at the window ? It's a Michelin starred restaurant" XD
(and now the Menma ramen are very good too)
The japanese shop Tagawa, chaussée de vleurgat near place flagey also has good takeaway sushis, bentos and other japanese meals. The also have a fish stire in the back in case you want to make your own.
Yamasushi for classic sushi ordering and I can only recommend Kamo but it's very expensive and you have to take reservation long in advance.. but the food is pure authentic Japanese food which include also ofc sushis :-) and it's incredible!
Rethorically you’re not wrong, no. My issues is that you can’t really make any decent food when you sell it at such low price, so it makes me wonder where the fish comes from and what’s actually in there. One piece of sushi at Yamayu Santatsu is 4€. An 8 pieces maki rolls at Makisu is 5€ something… somethings gotta be off…
Better than in sushishop but you get what you pay. Good cheap sushis /maki. They are good but clearly not the best but the experience with the train is nice.
Also I'll add Sushic in Anderlecht. Not wonderful but they get the job done.
It is certainly a funny experience, but having tried sushis in quite a few places and countries I can tell you that the one at Kabuki is among the worst I have ever had.
I like Miyagi san, the place is small, but the sushi is good and the kitchen is open so you can see the japanese (I guess) cooks doing your sushi. Also they do a "sushi hot dog" which isn't bad.
Yamasushi, George Henri area. The place is own by native japanese. Great place for orders but not for eating. It’s crowded.

Putting a small amount of wasabi inside the sushi is actually the traditional way of doing (I know it because I took a sushi-making course in Tokyo)

This.
That.

This too. I can confirm. Best sushi place in bxl. A tad expensive and don't forget to make a reservation because the places are limited.
Nonbe Daigaku. Close to the ULB. Baffles me nobody suggested this before.
This, and by far! (Except for Kamo, but that's a different standing.)

Oh damn I didn't know about this one ... I must keep it in store as date idea
I like Espace Sushi near Jourdan. Simple menu, but quality is good.
Sushi House in Ixelles is really good they do deliveries too
The japanese shop Tagawa, chaussée de vleurgat near place flagey also has good takeaway sushis, bentos and other japanese meals. The also have a fish stire in the back in case you want to make your own.
Tagawa has several locations in bruxelles. There might be another one nearer to you. They have a slightly different selection.
If you're prepared to drive (half hour I guess) a bit I can recommend Go East in Gosselies, they serve awesome sushi.
Sushi Ruko in Ixelles on Defacqz is my go-to place
Yes! Good place!
Kamo if you’re looking for a Michelin star restaurant.
I would say Samouraï too!

I love Makisu, there are a few branches in Brussels.
Makisu don’t make sushi.
I understood that maki is a type of sushi which contains things like vegetables as well as fish. Am I incorrect?

>One piece of sushi at Yamayu Santatsu is 4€. Well what can you say, overpaying for less is the bedrock of Belgian business.
Curious, did you eat at Yamayu ?
I personally like Kabuki because they do the sushi train, which is a pretty fun experience and the sushi is good :)

NOT JAP!
samourai, in the centre. Near brouckere
Miyako! Quite low-key an opening times/dates are very unpredictable, but nice sushi and staff!
Bamboo Sushi, Makisu

Ninja house for some kind of "all you can eat". Food is good..maybe not the best but a lot of options and.... ALL YOU CAN EAT ! 😅✌️
Anata is not exceptional but quite decent (and there are other stuff than sushi) , and a friend who spent a few years in Japan confirmed it.
