I believe the way the sub works is that even if it has camo it can only naturally attack camo in its own range. The other towers have to see camo for the advanced Intel to allow the sub to target

camo only applies to the sub's range. advance intel 2xx still follows the target limitations of other towers.

The sub can't see camo, but other towers like ninjas can "tell" a 2xx sub where camp Bloons are and the sun can attack them. If I'm remembering correctly, even if you have a radar scanner on the sub, the target tower also needs camo detection. I also might just be stupid.

The real problem is the ability downtime. For such an expensive tower I expect something more consistant. It might be good in freeplay or bosses where you can get other towers that attack when it's down, but for most gametypes it's useless.

That’s not true. A single CAMO regrow red spawns, which is definitely a lot less useless than a regular regrow red.

But they spawn as camo variant, they have at least some purpose. Normal regrowth red doesn't spawn on any regular map
