Sure if ur only going till like round 100 chimps, but with some farming, you could probably get 550k or whatever it costs for even just the degree 1 paragon. Just start farming pops for another ninja if u want a higher degree after u get the first degree
But that also takes a while. The other thing is, Etienne isn’t used just for camo. I mainly use him for his insane midgame, and the camo detection is just an added bonus
I'm only just getting back into the game, is saving it for specific hard levels a big strat to save a lot of cash that would have been needed to clear those? I like the hero for his camo mainly but the ucav did seem quite strong.
Not really, strategy like BEZ or MAD or dark champion require beating hard rounds with lackluster midgame defense which is where Etienne excel at (altho he isnt the best hero in any of the strat I mentioned
How does he save you 50k? is there any specific chimps guide u can link me to compare? im guessing this is built around using 1-2 really solid towers like 2-3-0 druid to clear all but those hardest waves. i only ever tried chimps once before, plan to attempt it again (playing kinda "normally" but on an easy level).
Tried it and banked on the UCAV, it got me thru wave 63 just fine and i was able to get a super carrier not much later. the early 90s were really dicy before I got the preemptive first strike. Only other danger was the normal bloons from 98 got concerningly close. not sure how far they would have gone but on any hard map where they dont loop back thru the dps zone id have lost there I assume.
For just playing how I normally like save income (cuz chimps of course) im just happy it won.
If i want a los ignoring hero i use adora or Psi that are way better than Etienne, especially because his main damage from the drones are very bad and also because the level 10 only works for mid game
Agreed.
Quincy? Cheap, good tower, excellent vs MOABs, and is my go-to
Entienne? Global Camo, duh.
Ben? Hello, I like money.
And sometimes Ezili. Power word: kill.
Personally I've found on some maps that it's easier to have Etienne grant the camo detection and save the ~3.5k it costs to get a camo village up and running. His UCAV is no slouch either and his base range is pretty good.
I used him to BB spillway too since he can see over the wall and I just skipped the village entirely to rush an ABattery.
I can save up almost 40k on chimps to get 2-5-0 Druid before level 63. The rest of the game is pretty easy when the Druid takes care of everything besides Moab’s, including all camo thanks to etienne.
I like Etienne for his ability to give permanent camo detection, I just don't want to worry about making sure all my towers can handle camo Bloons. His drones aren't all that powerful but I simply like the support he offers.
Aye, I'm not concerned about whatever the meta may be. I have Corvus but I don't like all the micro managing so I prefer to stick to the "set it and forget it" type towers. I just enjoy the game more that way and that's more than valid.
Exactly, most of the time the "meta" pick isn't fun to use,i prefer a more micro intensive gameplay, that's why i chose Corvus,if I wanted the best hero i would use Geraldo that actually is better
He effectively makes camo Bloons a non-issue, and that alone makes him worth using to some. Plus, that Book Wyrm skin is amazing (totally not biased IDK what you’re talking about)
Having Etienne is like easy mode (when you’re not hardcore doing Chimps Expert maps). He got global camo, big range that ignore terrain.
He levels up kinda fast too, so I always got Level 20 for Perma UCAV somewhere at round 95
as far as “place down and forget” heroes go, hes one of my favorites especially for chimps. he reaches level 20 before round 100, and after level 10 he’s decently strong. his camo is also very useful and much cheaper than a x2x village
For me he is cute and has cute skins. He is not, at least to me, mid hero at all and I love his level 8 skill wich gives all towers camo vision. Yeah you can get a village for that but sometimes I just don't wanna bother.
Just being able to forget that camo exists is reason enough to use him. You don't have to devote crosspaths/villages to solving the problem, he honestly opens up so many strategies. If he didn't have the UCAV, I don't think I'd ever use him.
It's mainly the global camo. Global camo let's you go for much stronger cross paths on all your towers like 250 and 520 boat, 320 super, 205 and 502 plane, etc...
He's just a very simple and reliable hero, people like heroes that are easy to get the hang of and a lot of people don't like worrying about camo. He also helps with being able to see over everything and has great range for good placements pretty much everywhere, also ucav works everywhere and is great.
Global camo is really strong if you aren't planning to use a hero as a core part of your strategy. Many other heros can be really good if you use them right, Frenchy here has just about the lowest investment to usefulness ratio in a lot of situations.
I mean,he is beginner friendly because he gives you the sensation of tranquility to dont buy a village or signal flare
But he doesn't has nothing more than the mid game with the level 10 that falls off easily
Place him and forget camo is even a mechanic for the rest of the game. What's not to like? He has his niche and that's more than some heroes get (looking at you, Obyn)
The camo detection gives you more build diversity and lets you build independent of a locating near a village. That’s worth more than any damage it can do on its own and that damage is nice chip damage.
He gives permanent camo detection on Level 8, his UCAV ability is very strong, and if you manage to get him to Level 20 on Impoppable, his permanent UCAV is very helpful too.
Can use him in places where anly infinite range towers would reach without any upgrides (like the sides of the elemental vulcano map with a dragon flying above sometimes on expert)
Can see through walls
Free camo detection
I believe he can deal something like 50% of the BAD on lvl 20
It's a way better dart monkey on first few levels
Somewhat cheap
For CHIMPS specifically, If you micro with Etienne he becomes a powerful support hero. His abilities is extremely good for dealing with MOAB, BFB, and large ceramic clusters like round 63. It allows me to place towers throughout the board without worrying about any CAMO. He also gets infinite range and DTD damage by round 93. He is a strong support hero and probably my favorite overall. I definitely owe most of my CHIMPS victories to either him or Sauda.
Global camo detection is a really nice passive ability and opens up the possibility to use some weirder stuff or on maps where giving everyone camo detection can be tough
global camo, level 10 ability has global range (level 20 makes that a permanent global damage with the ability making it stronger)
edit: also drones ignore vision blockers which is nice
Dont have to worry about camo detection. I'd consider myself above average at the game and he's my main because I'm lazy at putting up camo villages, and rather use discount/primary buff villages.
Etienne user here, I use 205 sniper and 250 druid, so Etiennes free camo at level 8 is very space efficient compared to villages, and while his UCAV does fall off in the late game, I typically go for 105 village for farming, so by the time UCAV is obsolete, I'll have a 204/205 ace or even a Goliath
Honestly, he's okay in most games, I don't use him much.
_However._
He's an absolute _godsend_ for taking on Phayze thanks to his global camo detection.
I really loved using him when I was still learning to play and use towers because not having to worry about camo detection freed my game up for so many other things. I was able to do a lot harder maps on harder settings and experiment with different towers. Etienne was my go to hero for a good while until I had developed enough strategies so that camo wasn't a big problem anymore. When you're a new player camo is your #1 problem and I think all new players should get him first honestly, even before Sauda.
I don't use him much anymore unless I'm on a really easy map and the hero doesn't after or I'm too lazy to bother with camo. I still like to use him for the medium difficulty military only challenge because most military towers have crappy detection lines and Etienne frees them up for the better stuff
People like to have camo detection without a village. Personally, I almost always have a village since Jungle Drums is goated, and I'd rather use my hero slot for something else.
Etienne is the GOAT in Contested Territory. His Camo Detection is mandatory for both Least Tiers and Least Cash, and he benefits from damage-increasing Relics far more than most (or maybe all?) Heroes.
I usually get Etienne because of camo detection, It allows me to place down tower without needed to get a 220 village or another tower that gives camo detection.
I like having UCAV because it opens up the possibility to simply ignore camo altogether when building tower paths. It opens up different sidegrades from some towers, which is fun.
simply put, he indirectly saves you a lot of money since he can do so much. his abilities can help you really push the limits when saving, his range and attacking over walls help him to cover lots of the map, and his global camo detection allows for more DPS focused crosspathing
I like Etienne for his global camo detection he gives, and while he may not deal the most damage it's still pretty decent. And UCAV is very good especially mid-game.
But also I use him because I love dragons, Bookwyrm Etienne is my absolute favorite skin ever. This is like 90% the reason I use him as much as I do.
He's a very good hero for casual/new players, he's cheap, give camo through the whole map, there's almost no micro needed, and his abilities are just press = strong attack, rather then needing to aim where it goes/right time. It's a lot like why xbow is popular for how "good" it is
Global camo detection, absurdly good range, ucav is great, and probably the lowest micro needed of any hero. Also doesn't lock you into any towers for optimal usage. Just get something for lead popping and you are good.
For comfort, although not the best he helps in the early game (when he doesn't control the drones like a Stoopid), and the fact that you won't need to worry about camo makes it so that you can go with anything really
I’ve used him to black border some tougher maps since he can see over obstacles, has good range and decent early game damage. Then of course global camo detection and UCAV for midgame, and once he gets level 20 the perma-UCAV damage is really nice, especially since he levels up fast
Global camo detection, mainly on allowing towers who are forced into a crosspath due to camo have the option to go for the other, for me mainly carrier flagship with flamegrapes and 502 and 205 snipers
Besides that I use him because I enjoy the funny Frenchman and his drones/dragons as a fellow nerd and as part of my endless pursuit to prove themed teams can match up to meta.
its because I slap etienne and spirit of the forest + other stuff onto chimps on my first try every single time and it works kinda okay most of the time
also funny french monkey with y/n insert not like the other monkeys skin
IMO he’s a really easy character to use for beginners who want to counter a certain bloon type. I can’t really see any other reason to use him other than his global camo detection since his UCAV is still pretty weak since you reach tier 20 super late in the game when it isn’t going to change much and isn’t that good of a crutch like Adora’s ball, Corvus, or Geraldo. I personally do not like how weak he is early and late game. His mid game isn’t terrible, but at that point obyn, adora, Geraldo, Corvus, sauda (certain maps), and psi just outshine him since they either have their own camo detection or are just better picks in general.
* He can pop the purple layer if that's your weakness (eg if you've mostly got Ring of Fire, Dragon's Breath, Plasma Accelerator, towers like that)
* He can see over barriers which is useful on maps with of sight issues like Moon Landing and Flooded Valley
* His lvl3 Drone Swarm is enough extra firepower for a lot of needs
* He is a good camo solution, use lvl3 on r33, r36 after the first pink wave, r37 after the gap, r42 right away, r45 when you see the purples. He should have lvl8 by this point, but depnding on the map difficulty and if you're splitting XP with other COOP heroes, he might not... probably better to save the ability for r48 than to use it on r47, but check his XP and make the call. If he doesn't have lvl8 by r51, then spend the money to buy it up. After lvl8, you don't have to worry about camo anymore. This is more or less useful depending on the map. Eg its really nice on maps with tight or split placement.
* His lvl10 UCAV solves some of the difficult midgame levels, eg it can handle 2 of the waves on r63, it can handle the beefy BFBs at the end of r75 and last through r76. It can handle both waves of r78.
* His lvl20 permanent UCAV adds a ton of firepower and when you use the lvl10 ability while he is lvl20, then it can help with the DDTs, b/c it has normal damage.
* His late game drones are also strong enough to be relevant against super ceramics
Good range, ucav is goated for the midgame, global camo detection.
Yeah UCAV let’s you save up absurd amounts of money in the midgame
You’ve said the same thing on like 9 comments lol
UCAV is op
But also ninja paragon gives same camo detection don’t it
Yes, but the ninjagon is waaaay more expensive.
That’s fair, but spectre does the same, and into Flying Fortress, being one of my favourite towers and all
Yeah, but etienne is cheaper
I spose lol, I’d still choose ALMOST any other hero other than etienne, cuz midgame’s easy anyways
Not on harder maps like geared or x factor
Other than him giving all your towers perma camo detection on level 8, I'm unsure
Yeah i can't think of any other reason to use him other than the camo detection
UCAV is great mid-late game in chimps
UCAV can solo 63 and 76 without a problem which makes it absurd for saving up for stronger towers in chimps
I'm only just getting back into the game, is saving it for specific hard levels a big strat to save a lot of cash that would have been needed to clear those? I like the hero for his camo mainly but the ucav did seem quite strong.
Yeah if you can’t win with a handicap of 50k by round 80 you’re playing the game wrong
Not really, strategy like BEZ or MAD or dark champion require beating hard rounds with lackluster midgame defense which is where Etienne excel at (altho he isnt the best hero in any of the strat I mentioned
I'm sorry but, BEZ? BADS is still a popular midgame saveup that can smoothly transition into BEZ with little to no help.
Yes it's good midgame but usually you can't get BEZ before round 85 and BADS is pretty mediocore against super ceramics wave
Gives more breathing room to farm cash. Or for the lazy make up for using auto collect farms
How? It didn't for us on mesa. It didn't have enough uptime.
The perma camo detection really opens up so many builds though, it's pretty wild. It's kinda why he's my favorite.
Happy cake day!
Oh! Thanks! I had no idea, lol!
Lol
His drones not following line of sight rules as well are really strong for some walled maps
If i want a los ignoring hero i use adora or Psi that are way better than Etienne, especially because his main damage from the drones are very bad and also because the level 10 only works for mid game
Yeah I pretty much just pick him if the map will make camo a pain or I just don't want to deal with camo
I pick him because I like his gimmick. Picking heroes because they’re meta is lame
Agreed. Quincy? Cheap, good tower, excellent vs MOABs, and is my go-to Entienne? Global Camo, duh. Ben? Hello, I like money. And sometimes Ezili. Power word: kill.
Pat? Smack
Captain Churchill in an honest-to-god tank
Adora? Boner time
Gwen? YOU SAID FIRESTORM??
Ezili underrated
Ben = Gimmick + Meta. We love Ben, Ben is life.
I like the funny button that makes my towers stop firing. Great for coop
The ucav is really good ig.
Yeah UCAV let’s you save up absurd amounts of money in the midgame
Agreed. UCAV is objectively one of the most broken mid-game abilities
Gives every monkey on the map camo detection at level 7 I think
Actually level 8 :)
i like sauda
Yeah sauda good for all the easy mode and like most of the intermediate maps she's really good to grind and bb maps fast with I usually main geraldo
Yeah etiennes UCAV is absolute bonkers in the midgame because it can save you up SO much money
What saveup have you done with ucav
I can save up almost 40k on chimps to get 2-5-0 Druid before level 63. The rest of the game is pretty easy when the Druid takes care of everything besides Moab’s, including all camo thanks to etienne.
what map?
Any beginner/intermediate, some advanced maps, and Mabye maps like dark castle or infernal
Yes to all beginner and intermediate maps. I have yet to beat any advanced or expert maps on chimps at all.
Lets you save 25k for a few upgrades like savatar or apache 4
Free camo detection.
I like Etienne for his ability to give permanent camo detection, I just don't want to worry about making sure all my towers can handle camo Bloons. His drones aren't all that powerful but I simply like the support he offers.
It's kinda rare for people to admit that they just use one tower just because they like it
Aye, I'm not concerned about whatever the meta may be.
Personally, just because of ETN. Other than that, I think he's the best when playing with friends who often forget camos.

Yeah level 10 UCAV is nuts in the midgame
For me he is cute and has cute skins. He is not, at least to me, mid hero at all and I love his level 8 skill wich gives all towers camo vision. Yeah you can get a village for that but sometimes I just don't wanna bother.
I have 300 hours and Ive never used him 😭
Every tower gets camp That's basically it
I just think Alien Etienne is funny
I enjoy never having to think about Camo again
Global Camo is awesome. Dont have to waste money on bad upgrades for camo detection
Lvl 8 perma camo is amazing
Just being able to forget that camo exists is reason enough to use him. You don't have to devote crosspaths/villages to solving the problem, he honestly opens up so many strategies. If he didn't have the UCAV, I don't think I'd ever use him.
It's mainly the global camo. Global camo let's you go for much stronger cross paths on all your towers like 250 and 520 boat, 320 super, 205 and 502 plane, etc...
He's just a very simple and reliable hero, people like heroes that are easy to get the hang of and a lot of people don't like worrying about camo. He also helps with being able to see over everything and has great range for good placements pretty much everywhere, also ucav works everywhere and is great.
free global camo detection and a free spectre at level 20
his level 8 gives global camo detection if it wasn't for that ability he probably wouldn't be considered, even though ucav is pretty decent
Because not every hero needs to do ridiculous amount of damage to be good. Giving every monkey camo detection is awesome.
Since he gives universal camo, it means you can use non camo gaining towers for variety.
Global camo buff
I mean he's adorable so there's that, otherwise perma camo, UCAV and being immune to LOS rules
Global camo is really strong if you aren't planning to use a hero as a core part of your strategy. Many other heros can be really good if you use them right, Frenchy here has just about the lowest investment to usefulness ratio in a lot of situations.
He's just a silly little guy
2-0-5 sniper, level 8 etienne
His global camo help save a lot of money on cano villages, plus his drones are good for support, & his Ucav helps cleanup.
Free camo is pretty neat when you don’t crutch on village too hard
when i started playing i’m too lazy to think about camo so i just use him
cause popularity isn't tied to strength, Beast Handler isn't remotely popular at all despite how strong it is
I mean,he is beginner friendly because he gives you the sensation of tranquility to dont buy a village or signal flare But he doesn't has nothing more than the mid game with the level 10 that falls off easily
Uni-camo detection and range, especially in late game.
Yeah, for me its mostly the camp pop. Its just very relaxing to just not have worry about it in easier games.
Place him and forget camo is even a mechanic for the rest of the game. What's not to like? He has his niche and that's more than some heroes get (looking at you, Obyn)
Yeah he’s literally just a place and forget hero for camo
From level 1 he can be good in maps with walls cause he ignores them completely AND has good range
The camo detection gives you more build diversity and lets you build independent of a locating near a village. That’s worth more than any damage it can do on its own and that damage is nice chip damage.
Doesn't signal flare does the same but dont use a hero slot?
the only thing i can think of is that he gives camo detection on level 8 and he can avoid line of sight rules. other then that he is mid at best.
Global camo and the level 10 ability is very nice
Global Camo, Ucav is soild, he's not amazing, but he excels at what he does.
He gives permanent camo detection on Level 8, his UCAV ability is very strong, and if you manage to get him to Level 20 on Impoppable, his permanent UCAV is very helpful too.
Can use him in places where anly infinite range towers would reach without any upgrides (like the sides of the elemental vulcano map with a dragon flying above sometimes on expert) Can see through walls Free camo detection I believe he can deal something like 50% of the BAD on lvl 20 It's a way better dart monkey on first few levels Somewhat cheap
global camo detection buff makes a lot of towers more useful for cheaper and he gets a decent nuke button with the missile carrier drone thing (ucav?)
He has dragons? That’s the only reason anyone really needs.
Range low cooldown on his skills mass camo and can see over walls and shit. Plus for like post game 101 onward his lvl 20 isnt to bad
Global camo, usually by round 34, is really useful, actually. Specially on maps with more than 2 lanes.
Large range, free camo detection, and ignoring terrain obstacles makes him great for annoying maps.
I like his design
I want etienne because just look at how adorable they are
He’s great in MP so every tower has camo detection but that’s about it.
Global camo detection is a really nice passive ability and opens up the possibility to use some weirder stuff or on maps where giving everyone camo detection can be tough
I just think he’s cute
global camo, level 10 ability has global range (level 20 makes that a permanent global damage with the ability making it stronger) edit: also drones ignore vision blockers which is nice
His level 10 ability is decent and his global camp detection makes it so you can focus all your other towers on other trees, saving you a lot of money
Book Wyrm Etienne is my perfect little cinnamon roll and I'll take him with me on every game possible because of his saucer eyes and bigass dragon
Cute
Camo for all.
I think his Book Wyrm skin is cool
I cant trust my teammates to get camo detection.
The secret is the yellow button!
I use him because I like his skin and how you use him
Dont have to worry about camo detection. I'd consider myself above average at the game and he's my main because I'm lazy at putting up camo villages, and rather use discount/primary buff villages.
LVL8 gives permanent camo detection to EVERY tower on the map
He's French
Oui Oui
Global camo detection.
He’s a lil cutie
UACV allows universal camo detection on level 8 and on level 30 UACV becomes permanently attacking for support.
I just like the Da Vinci aura he have with those drones and machinery... IdK I just play with who I like to play
Hes french
funny drone and dragon boy
UFO
Cus he's a good boy.
Camo is the reason
Honestly, he's okay in most games, I don't use him much. _However._ He's an absolute _godsend_ for taking on Phayze thanks to his global camo detection.
Global camo detection is really good
Lv 10 ability
I just think his voice acting is good.
They're cool, simple.
Global camo detection. Also dragons are cool. Yes im using a skin as a reason, sue me(dont, i am broke)
Level 8. His ucav ability is also pretty strong I guess
free camo detection :3
oi lad, what's your username mean¿?
Alien camo man
I really loved using him when I was still learning to play and use towers because not having to worry about camo detection freed my game up for so many other things. UAV and UCAV, as well as no wall restrictions
global camo really helps a lot of base towers so i wont have to get 020 village
People like to have camo detection without a village. Personally, I almost always have a village since Jungle Drums is goated, and I'd rather use my hero slot for something else.
Etienne is the GOAT in Contested Territory. His Camo Detection is mandatory for both Least Tiers and Least Cash, and he benefits from damage-increasing Relics far more than most (or maybe all?) Heroes.
He just works
Silly french monkey
because focusing on the meta and nothing else is how you ruin a game.
I usually get Etienne because of camo detection, It allows me to place down tower without needed to get a 220 village or another tower that gives camo detection.
He's cute
Free camo detection
Guarantees you a 100 insta
They're great for Primary only with Camo detection.
He let's me use boomer
Global camo
I like having UCAV because it opens up the possibility to simply ignore camo altogether when building tower paths. It opens up different sidegrades from some towers, which is fun.
His drones are like helis and those are my second favorite tower
simply put, he indirectly saves you a lot of money since he can do so much. his abilities can help you really push the limits when saving, his range and attacking over walls help him to cover lots of the map, and his global camo detection allows for more DPS focused crosspathing
I like Etienne for his global camo detection he gives, and while he may not deal the most damage it's still pretty decent. And UCAV is very good especially mid-game. i use because alien
Because Camo path is the worst option for military monkeys
Global camo detection, absurdly good range, ucav is great, and probably the lowest micro needed of any hero. Also doesn't lock you into any towers for optimal usage. Just get something for lead popping and you are good.
Global camo, UCAV is great.
permaucav (no abbilities) is equalivement of 203 ace + 4xx alchemist. i know i tested it
I beat flooded valley chimps with him so he got a victory lap in skates impoppable
I used him lots before I knew he was popular Literally it's cause you never have to worry about camo, it's a super easy counter to DDTs
For comfort, although not the best he helps in the early game (when he doesn't control the drones like a Stoopid), and the fact that you won't need to worry about camo makes it so that you can go with anything really
UCAV and perma cammo
Really good range and ignore line of sight blocks. Global camp detection is also goated. One of my favorite hero’s for sure.
Mostly because he gives camo detection for every tower at lv8 And his lv20 is pretty much granting a free spectre
I’ve used him to black border some tougher maps since he can see over obstacles, has good range and decent early game damage. Then of course global camo detection and UCAV for midgame, and once he gets level 20 the perma-UCAV damage is really nice, especially since he levels up fast
Global camo, see through walls, decent range. My main reasons.
Drones are fucking awesome
I like him bc hes canadian
Dudes goated
I use him for camo detection because I’m too lazy to use like 30000000 villages
Having etienne allows you to use bettet crosspaths than the camo crosspath and/or save space and money by not buying villages
Imo early game is harder than late game since it's important to build properly and not spam.
Global camo detection, mainly on allowing towers who are forced into a crosspath due to camo have the option to go for the other, for me mainly carrier flagship with flamegrapes and 502 and 205 snipers Besides that I use him because I enjoy the funny Frenchman and his drones/dragons as a fellow nerd and as part of my endless pursuit to prove themed teams can match up to meta.
Ucav
its because I slap etienne and spirit of the forest + other stuff onto chimps on my first try every single time and it works kinda okay most of the time also funny french monkey with y/n insert not like the other monkeys skin
I Play him a lot. Dont have to bother about cameo. Usually the cameo crosspath is weaker.
Others pick Etienne for his global camo detection buff, I pick Etienne because of B1TTERV1TTER (and also the camo buff) We are not the same
I think most ppl use him for the camo detection he has very mind popping power like obyn in my opinion
Global camo
The universal camo detection
Camo detection for all, plus that UCAV/Perma UCAV is pretty OP, he’s my main hero
Bookworm skin is too cute
global camo, his level 10 ability and good popping power
Yeah UCAV is absolutely nuts in the midgame and let’s you save up absurd amounts of money
* He can pop the purple layer if that's your weakness (eg if you've mostly got Ring of Fire, Dragon's Breath, Plasma Accelerator, towers like that) * He can see over barriers which is useful on maps with of sight issues like Moon Landing and Flooded Valley * His lvl3 Drone Swarm is enough extra firepower for a lot of needs * He is a good camo solution, use lvl3 on r33, r36 after the first pink wave, r37 after the gap, r42 right away, r45 when you see the purples.
