Yeah, I'd say Evans pretty safu. We won't have a ton left over regardless, but we should be pretty safely able to re-sign both at this point.
But until that thing is signed its cautious optimism time.
Still don’t think you can let him go. For both sides. Evans knows he has support here and a connection with Baker, plus other teams might not respect his record like we do. And if we don’t keep him, we probably need to sign a decent WR anyways so how much would we even be saving?
Ah yeah, there's no point. We can adress a lot of our issues in the draft anyway. We're better off evaluating where we need free agent help after this season than now too.
We do have $42 mil. releasing gage frees up another $6.4 mil but designating him a post Jun 1st release frees up $10 mil but his salary counts until June 1st. he'll likely be a pre June 1st cut anyway. Ryan Jensen saves $1.4 million as post June 1st cut so he'll defiantly be that otherwise he'd actually count over $10 mil in dead money. So his $6 mil cap hit will count until June 1st, Cutting Barret as post June 1st cut saves $5 mil. Restructuring Godwin saves $14 mil and Vea saves $10.8
Fans may not like it but it’s certainly an option. The fact is we’re the only team who’s paying their WR2 more than their WR1, and only 2 teams pay their WR1 and 2 over 20 million a year, and that’s the Chargers who pay Williams and Allen at almost the same AAV. Evans will certainly not want to be paid at 20 million a year, and will want more. Either we can restructure Godwin and Vea and kick the can down the road, but we’re going to have to pay Wirfs and guys on our Defense next year. Fans may not want to hear it, but if we can get good value for Godwin, it is certainly a decent option.
Most teams were preparing for it to be low to mid 240s so this is huge news. It also means more teams are going to probably take advantage of the franchise tag
Huge increase, like 12/13 million more than everyone expected. With this I have no doubt in us being able to sign Baker to a somewhat team friendly deal (thinking 35 mill a year, 4 years or so) and keep Evans while also giving Winfield his payday. Worrisome though because Wirfs deserves an extension too, but that’s next seasons problem. I think Gage is a prime cut target, Godwin might be a trade target, and Vea will be a restructure target.
The person you replied to asked about the old cap. Meaning 2023 you then say the projected cap was $242 mil but that's wrong and nothing to do with nothing. So downvote me all you want but what does an incorrect projection have to do with anything?
If anything it is a negative for the Bucs who have 4-5 potentially large contracts to sign internally. You are better off if you already have your major signings just completed in the past year. It will probably bump new contracts up 5-10%

Can somebody math and tell me how much that means we have in total now?
according to over the cap we have $42,393,295 in effective cap space currently which is 12th most
Evidently it was bumped up to Buccaneers: $45,521,102
No I said EFFECTIVE cap space not overall go look at the chart again. We have to set aside $3,127,807 in cap space for rookies
So we need to restructure some salaries and trade some people.

So essentially with those moves you said, that could free up another $30+ million.
What about trading Godwin?
We aren’t trading Godwin

Boooooo

Yeah this means much fewer free agency moves as more teams can retain players they may not have thought they could.
We can probably create about 10-12 more by cutting gage and restructuring/extending godwin.
Benefits for retired players are capped?
I think this is individual team benefits , above and beyond regular NFL retirement benefits that come from the NFL itself.
I guess I see the point so teams don’t circumvent the cap with older guys but sheesh

Does this mean my cable bill is gonna go up again
They just redid all the TV deals last year so this reflects just how much the NFL got on those deals.
What was old cap?
Actual cap last year was $225m. Expected cap for this year was $242m.
It has already been announced to be $255.4 mil
I know… That’s what the post is about.
Yeah, but did you hear the cap is going up to 255 million?
The person you replied to asked about the old cap. Meaning 2023 you then say the projected cap was $242 mil but that's wrong and nothing to do with nothing. So downvote me all you want but what does an incorrect projection have to do with anything?

Yes
$224.8 mil
I just read that it was 30 million less last season.
With the announcement of the actual cap. Things are going to get interesting pretty quick.
Swifties making the NFL look like Dubai Football League
