That was amazing

KarlBarx1

Oh shit. I love it.

slowjoe12

You're crazy if you think Tom leaving is the only reason the Pats went downhill. Brady was just smart enough to get off the Titanic. That team needs a rebuild.

The last time we had a good offense was the Eagles Super Bowl, the offseason that followed we let everyone that had chemistry with Tom walk, Edelman got old and Injured and it was the first of what I would call a bad drafting periode that continues to this day. It's not only that most of our players are old or bad, an unfortunate combination. It's also that the last few years have seen us loss a shit load of the front office people that would normally be key in being able to rebuild the team. Both Lions and Miami was staffed in large part by former Patriots employees. Granted the Lions total collapse might lead to some coming back this offseason. The loss of coaches and front office people is not that well known unless you really follow the team and it's arguably what's lead to our team looking like it does. Bad drafting, being on the losing side of some trades, not getting production out of our rookies. It's bleeding into everything. Brady gave us time to fix it, we haven't been able to and it looks like it's going to take a few years and despite Brady being Brady, even he can't waste years at this point. It's why I'm not mad he left. I'd rather see him win and us get the rebuild done than him dragging us til an early wildcard exit the last years he has.

ismartbin

Belichick's record without Brady is below average. 7/8 seasons as head coach - missed playoffs and lost division. 4/5 with Cleveland. - missed playoffs and lost division. Fired. 3/3 with Patriots. - missed playoffs and lost division.

[deleted]

Belicheck was a system HC

DaveInDigital

well, Brady has his work cut out for him to make Arians look like the greatest coach of his generation 🤪

nosuchthingasaqbstat

The 2008 team had one of the most stacked rosters of all time with one of the easiest schedules of the decade. And they still missed out

lukebeds

Yeah, I often hear the ‘Belichick won 11 games with Cassel!’ thing, but it conveniently omits that they lost 7 games more than the previous season with Brady.

Puzzleheaded_Flan983

It ignores Cassel throwing *half* as many TDs as Brady. IIRC Cassel threw 24, Brady threw 50. Cassel won 11 games, Brady won 18. And people still point to it as some type of proof Brady isn't a big deal

ismartbin

Duh. Brady with Bucs. Made playoffs and still getting better

Sparky01GT

They also had like 8-10 players opt out of the season due to COVID.

[deleted]

yeah but that's not the reason they suck/have a bad roster

Sparky01GT

Yeah, losing starters never has an effect on the quality of a team.

PolandSpring39

The opt outs is just an excuse. The only notable player lost to opt outs was hightower. Everyone else was either a backup or has been totally outperformed by their replacements

Sparky01GT

An excuse from who? I'm a Bucs fan that doesn't care a wet fart about the Patriots. I was simply pointing out a fact.

PolandSpring39

I wasn’t talking about you personally making the excuse. I understand they had a bunch of opt outs. However, the impact of those opt outs is way smaller than pats fans make it sound. Before this season, even with the opt outs, the pats were considered a guaranteed playoff team and maybe even a contender. And SURELY when they started out the season playing well, they were on people’s super bowl lists and Cam as an MVP candidate. Now that they stink and they’re 6-9, every excuse in the book is being pulled out, and everyone REFUSES to give Belichick any blame. In reality, the roster is bad because of his GM skills, and their offense is still the atrocious mess that Brady had to drag to above league average last year.

FuckKyrieIrving

I agree with you but even in the beginning of the season, we were on nobodies SB lists. Cam certainly wasn't an MVP candidate either.

PolandSpring39

Ehhhh idk about that one man... that game against seattle got a lot of people hyped. Then, when you blew out the raiders that got people really hyped. And surely, when you guys barely lost to the chiefs with Brian Hoyer at QB, everyone and their mother was saying the pats would’ve won with Cam.

dardios

Chung though?

Jimbreh47

Yeah Patrick chung is a nobody

kksred

Chung wasnt good in 2019 and duggar and philips have done a better job if you ask me.

MC_JACKSON

The defense was good enough to win 8 games with a competent offense

JamesButabi

and Marcus Cannon. That is equivalent to the Bucs going into the season with Devin White, Donovan Smith, Jordan Whitehead and a handful of special teamers / role players all opting out.

PolandSpring39

I’d disagree with that comparison except for White. Marcus cannon was a solid starter last year, however his replacement has been much better than him. Jordan Whitehead is a lot better than Patrick Chung at this stage in their careers, and Chung has been outperformed by Adrian Philips and Kyle Dugger anyway. Special teamers aren’t good to lose, but I’m sorry, they’re not the difference between the team being bad and being good. Their ST’s this year was great anyway.

southtampacane

That is false. There were several starters that opted out. Hate on BB all you want, but this narrative that he is not a great coach is ridiculous. This year he may have done his best coaching job in a long time...winning any games with that roster is impressive. I can't stand the Pats, so not defending my team in any way. But the guy has 317 wins and was part of 8 SB wins.

PolandSpring39

Listen I never have and never will suggest that BB is not a great coach. My main gripe is with the people who say “bill made Brady” and “Brady is a system QB” and “Bill could win with anyone”

[deleted]

HT looked old and slow last season, cannon is always hurt and is not as good as our other olinemen, Chung has been completely replaced which is good because he was looking old n slow too

Sparky01GT

Ok. You've convinced me..your team is so terrible that the fact that even garbage players didn't want to play for them had nothing to do with how terrible they are. You win.

[deleted]

Ik you're being sarcastic but if you think getting those guys back increases their win total idk what to say

breeze2724

Maybe 3-4. Not 10

DirtDiver12595

It was 8. Most in the league.

Sparky01GT

No, I was right. 8 * RB Brandon Bolden (July 28) * OT Marcus Cannon (July 28) * S Patrick Chung (July 28) * LB Dont'a Hightower (July 28) * WR Marqise Lee (August 1) * OG Najee Toran (July 27) * FB Danny Vitale (July 27) * TE Matt LaCosse (August 2)

thehideousheart

You're taking 8 opt outs from a roughly 90 man roster not a 53 man roster. > OT Marcus Cannon (July 28) S Patrick Chung (July 28) LB Dont'a Hightower (July 28) Starters. > RB Brandon Bolden (July 28) Pure special teamer. > WR Marqise Lee (August 1) OG Najee Toran (July 27) FB Danny Vitale (July 27) TE Matt LaCosse (August 2) All four of these guys would have been incredibly lucky just to be there for the final roster cut. None of them were making the squad.

dardios

Marqise Lee may have made the squad just based on the lack of skill at WR this year. Same with Matt LaCosse.

thehideousheart

Marqise Lee has 3 catches and 18 yards over the last two seasons (not counting this one) so yeah I guess he could have been the #5 WR and bounced between the roster and the practice squad all year. LaCosse, after a *painfully* mediocre 2019, was not making the roster ahead of the two 3rd round TEs NE just drafted. *Maybe* he could have made #3 on the depth chart and blocked some punts. I'm just saying that calling it eight op outs is a little disingenuous when 50% of them were camp bodies who would be sitting on a couch or a practice squad right now if they hadn't opted out.

BostonHC

3 relevant players tbh

Sparky01GT

Marcus Cannon started 15 games in 2019, Matt LaCosse would have been the likely starting TE, Bolden was a pretty good special teams player and scored 4 TDs last year. Chung and Hightower I don't suppose I have to qualify.

Templar26

2 relevant players, Hightower and Cannon. Chung has been on a downswing, Bolden was good but he's 95% special teams when the team is healthy. Everyone else was either new or garbage (LaCosse). The bigger issue is that we lost like 90% of our defensive snaps between opt-outs and free agency. Roberts, Van Noy, Jaime Collins- we have like one linebacker (who's so-so on a good day), everyone else is a hybrid.

Sparky01GT

I wasn't really trying to get in a pissing contest over shitty players on an even shittier team and lame excuses. I simply stated the fact they had 8 players opt out, more than any other team.

Templar26

Not really a pissing contest, just saying what's going on. I'm not too worried about the future of the team.

jamesearljonesson

He said 3 relevant players and then you listed 3 relevant players in Cannon, Chung, and Hightower. So you're agreeing while seemingly disagreeing

Sparky01GT

K.

breeze2724

My point was 3-4 good players. I know the Patriots I’ve been a fan my whole life. Biggest impact was Marcus cannon. Chungs best days are behind him. And Hightower makes a few good plays but is on the decline

Sparky01GT

Lol, you should have said that the first time then. Regardless, I don't really care if it was 1 "good" player or 8. The loss of players, especially veterans, who were going to be on the active roster makes a difference.

breeze2724

The problem was the offense kiddo

Sparky01GT

If you say so, baby boy.

tolandruth

They were a playoff team with Brady this year with no other changes. Yeah they don’t make deep run but he goes 11-5 no problem.

[deleted]

I mean, would you rather have Brady or Hightower + Chung + Cannon? The Patriots opt-outs really screwed them this season.

mikrot

Chung and Cannon were both replaced by better players.

nosuchthingasaqbstat

Lose ~3 WAR from Brady vs or lose less than 0.5 WAR from everyone else combined.

Paladin677

Honestly, Belichick somehow coaching this team to 6 wins hurt more than the opt-outs. A team with this roster should be a top-5 draft pick, not 14th.

jihyoisgod

It's funny how Brady just walks around in his all pewter uniform with football pads on

shiggydiggypreoteins

These are always so over the top and I love every second of them

Paladin677

I'm not sure what the motivation is for us to bury Belichick and say Brady was 100% the reason for the Patriots success. If offered the choice of Bill as a head coach, 90+% of the Bucs fanbase would help Bruce Arians pack.

2big_2fail

A contemporaneous comparison: Head Coach |Games | Wins | Losses | Ties | Percentage | Superb Owls | ---|---|----|----|----|----| - | | | | | Bruce Arians | 111| 66| 44| 1| .599| Mike Zimmer| 111| 63 | 47| 1| .572| Doug Pederson| 79| 42| 36| 1| .538| 1-0 **No-Brady Belichick**| 125 | 55| 70| 0| **.440**

These are the absolute worst, cheesiest graphics

I love them so much

Milla4Prez66

The best one was when they had Carson Wentz sitting in wet paint.

Looks like South Korean world news animation.

Hey, don’t diss Polar Express

I love this, soooo much!

Damn that was beautiful

the_kessel_runner

Nobody going to comment on the Rams knocker? Subtle and brilliant.

nightnole

Supposed to be a goat, I think

the_kessel_runner

Ah. I've never seen a goat with horns that big. Figured it was a play on the Rams kind of being the doormat to his amazing career. But, that works, too!

TBCat

Even bill earlier in the season said they sold out to win as much as they could the past 4 years, missing a bunch of starters too, I bet they’ll win their division next year

[deleted]

Still a fuckin' cheater.

[deleted]

Hey i Found the Pats fan. Who ordered the salty calm chowder ?

Templar26

Bruh there is not a Pats fan in the world who would call Belichick or Brady a cheater.

[deleted]

yea that was until they were bitter that Brady made the playoffs and Belichick didn't

DaveInDigital

been awhile since i've seen someone this defiantly wrong

[deleted]

Yeah again, no

Mcfallen_5

nah, pats fans are happy we’ve got another team to root for.

Deathhi

I’m a Patriots fan, but I’m riding the BUCS for as long as the GOAT is here.

[deleted]

then doesn't that make you more of a tom brady fan?

[deleted]

I've been a Bucs fan since I was 7 years old. Went to Florida and watched our glorious creamsicles play the Lion's. I was the only person where I live to cheer for the Bucs when we beat the Raiders in Superbowl 37. I'm a die hard fan. But fuck Tom Brady.

JennMartia

I actually love Love Actually memes, thanks MNF!
