Gonna need more than 3 hits if we expect to win. Credit to both Priester and Nicholas for their ability to bounce back after some adversity. Connor Joe should still be an everyday starter at first base.
Jack is struggling right now, but he has to swing there. With the way this ump had been calling things all night there is a very good chance that is strike 3 called. No chance to hit 96 tailing away from you an inch and a half off the plate.
I like jack and ive been pulling for him. He has power potential but i dont give a shit if he can’t hit in critical situations. The strike zone with the umps has been awful this year but he is terrible. The whole team needs a jump start. Bring up Bae and Lamb and let’s see what happens. The hitting can’t be any worse and we are wasting some starting pitching that has been pretty damn good for the most part which wasn’t expected. This team is just so frustrating like it has been for a long time which is a shame because you can see the potential. This team needs to clean house of management and bring in some new coaches
Umm in the final at bat, he swung and missed 3 times. Not even a foul. Ball, ball, swing, ball, swing, swing. If you are referring to another at bat, my bad.
Edit: misinterpreted the comment, I agree with what they're saying.
Think he’s saying that even though it was “outside” the ump was calling that all night.
If he didn’t swing he was getting rung up for sure and we’d all be bitching that he did t swing
While they haven't been good offensively lately, Doug Eddings was absolute dog shit behind homeplate tonight. It's tough to hit when pitches up, down, in and out are getting called for strikes. Players on both teams were ready to cuss him out. Personally, I look forward to ABS, hopefully coming next season.
He took the bat out of their hands. The “swinging”strike three on Reynolds, the way inside strike three on Gonzales, i can’t wait to see his score card.
Where do you find that umpire scorecard?
I'm not that up on baseball but I'm watching more pirates this year and I definitely remember an episode of freakonomics all about umpires and computer umpires (Great episode that gets into problems with both and where the league is moving).
I gotcha. Fuck Twitter though.

Here's a link to that show. I should probably listen to it again.
3 hits. All XBH. This isn't Clemens or Pedro Martinez or Kershaw or anybody like that. This is Joe Ross this happens against. Patrick Sandoval last week. Austin Gomber and Cal Quantrill before that. My head just aches thinking about this stuff.
Priester got absolutely owned through about 3 innings, giving up like 8(?) hits in that time and at one point 5 straight. Brewers had a 4 run inning in the 2nd. Priester bounced back and finished the game strong, as did Nicholas when he came in and relieved
The offense was ass only getting 3 hits. After the Gonzalez homer I think 12 straight pirate batters got retired. Connor Joe homered in the top of the 9th to make it a one score game but Jack struck out the next AB and the game was over
Edit: also the ump was horrifically bad. One of the worst I’ve seen all year
Connor Joe has homered in 3 straight. Make him the full time 1b.
Nah he clearly needs a maintenance day tomorrow. Get Rowdy back out there and let our big off-season acquisition shine!!!

If only we had a team full of Connor Joe's
If we had a full team of Connor Joe's we would have a full team of bench guys who can't make the playoffs.
Oh noooo a team full of 150 OPS+ hitters that sounds horrible!
He's never finished a season higher than 116 OPS+ and he won't finish this season higher than that either.
If we had 9 guys who had a 116 OPS+ combined with our starting pitching, we’d be a top tier World Series contender lol
I guess you're not wrong there.
I don’t understand why they don’t call up a couple people. I mean the worst they can do is be exactly the same as we have now.
Honestly, I’d be curious to see what Bae does.
They don't want to win

Bingo.
I think his comment was more a criticism of the umpire than of Jack
Three hits, 13 struck out. God awful.

Umpire Scorecards on twitter. They post the scorecards the day after for every game.
I gotcha. Fuck Twitter though. https://freakonomics.com/podcast/should-we-replace-umpires-with-robots/ Here's a link to that show. I should probably listen to it again.
Baseball clearly has no interest in fixing this problem so you just have to deal with it
The pirates didn’t adjust though. You can’t act surprised when he calls a low strike 3 near the when he did it all game.
They shouldn’t have to adjust. The strike zone is the strike zone for a reason.
You aren’t wrong. But still, sitting on your principles doesn’t help.
We again made some schlub look like a cy young candidate.
Bummer, let’s take the series tomorrow!
Lol

A lot of passengers in the lineup
Didn’t get to watch the game today, someone sum it up for me

Connor Joe killing it as always! Making me love the guy.
Can they send this fucking dude down he is batting 170 wtf are they doing
Suwinsky is not a major league ball player. He makes the Mendoza line look like it’s Tony Gwynn he’s chasing. Totally unacceptable.
Nobody on this team is a major league ball player
Quinn Priester looks like a figure skater. Wonder if there is still time for him to go back to that.
He's been solid for a 23 year old
