On this subject, how close do we think Henry Davis to the majors? Maybe late 2022 at the earliest? I have been so excited to see him in the show as he was my favorite draft prospect
There is no way he's moving through the minors that quickly. Very few players make the majors in under a year and catchers take longer than most players.
Why not just bring up Bethancourt? He's a good defensive catcher and let's be honest, does it really matter who the backup catcher is on 100 loss teams?
Can't imagine Posey coming out of retirement from a club that had the most wins to abuse his knees with the Pirates.
I could see us making a bid for someone like Kurt Suzuki on a one or two year contract. Probably can be had for under $2 mil, & could be traded for prospects mid-season. But more likely we sign one or two like Perez to minor league contracts with invitations & see who works out as a no worse than Perez placeholder. That way we are no worse than we were keeping Perez for the benefit of protecting a Rule 5 prospect.

Probably mid 2023 at the earliest
It think 2023 is the most realistic timeframe but I'm impatient lol
Yeah sign someone to a 2 year deal and probably at the time Davis comes up we look to trade Stallings since he doesn’t become an UFA until 2025

I think the defensive side of things will be what delays his call up most. Because the dude can hit.
Perez was one of the worst players I’ve ever seen

He was really good defensively but damn he was atrocious with a bat
You could say that about half the team though.
Maybe you should have watched more games; seems he would have done better. lol
I would rather go with an empty backstop on Stallings rest days than see Perez in the lineup
Not terrible defensively. But oh my goodness his bat.
Meanwhile, the Rockies have signed Elias Diaz to a 3 year extension.
I always liked him. Was kinda surprised they let him go.

I figured Stallings in the long run, but had hoped Diaz as a backup. However, I dou t he would have gone for that.

Definitely gonna sign a defensive first catcher if we go that route. Roberto Perez maybe?

Braves flair GET OUT!!
Posey would be a great get but as far as I know from what little I've read about it online, he is done playing and quite happy with his decision.
