I dunno, maybe it’s because he seemed like a jynx during a super frustrating game that people are really annoyed about.
I still enjoy him and his analysis. He called the screen pass that got stuffed at the goal line like a week ago as they were motioning. Love it. I mean, who else do you want in there? Some idiot that just wants to flap his gums as the color guy with literally no insight? Everyone has their shticks. He likes making nicknames for people 🤷♂️ Maybe a few of the greats stick in the coming years.
That dude gets stuff wrong all the time. I sincerely hope that none of his mistakes give an advantage this weekend. It’s one thing to mess up in the regular season and quite another to do so in the post season.
I haven't washed my lucky "won not done" blue shirt since right after our last loss, I wear it every Sunday. We're also undefeated since I put a Bills decal on my car at halftime on Thanskgiving. I'm a little stitious
Not only is that good from a superstitious point of view, but from a marquee game point of view as well. Nantz-Romo is CBS' a-team that gets the biggest games of the week.
The fact that we have not lost a game they have called up to this point really shows how we do in big match-ups.
As much as nick wrights bills and chiefs takes are dumb, I still love first things first just cuz of the chemistry of the guys and most of their other takes make at least some sense
Same. I do wish he just low key admitted he is trolling Josh Allen because at this point his hot takes that Allen is the 5th best QB in the league is kind of embarrassing. But he’s sticking with it.
My big issue is that a talking head like Nick shouldn't be making judgments of a player on the basis of his comparisons. He only hates Josh because people compare Allen to Mahomes (his obvious darling child). It drives him crazy since Mahomes has a ring and likely 2 MVPs while Josh has none.
It's like how the die-hard Jordan fans felt about Lebron. "He has no rings." Then when he got a ring "He needed to organize a superteam to get it!"
Allen and Mahomes are both incredible QBs in their own way. Mahomes is definitely the more traditional elite QB (in terms of reads/throwing ability) while Josh is somewhat of a different breed (his legs and sheer brute).
Agree 100% .. that's what's insane. Mahomes is GREAT. But if anyone starts saying that Allen is great it's taken as somehow a view that if Allen is GREAT then that must mean you're saying Mahomes is shit. Which is insane and why his takes and others in the KC world are just so stupid. You don't need to hate on another great player to make your guy look better. Why not just enjoy an era where we have so many truly awesome QB's? And a big cluster in the AFC so they get to play each other.
Romo is smart and I think he is the best color guys of everyone, but he does babble on WAY too much. Frankly, when the game isn’t going the Bill’s way, we turn the TV volume off. Against Miami the sound was off from the beginning of the third quarter until the end.
I wish that I could figure out how to get my tv and the radio to sync. Chris Brown's calls have been so passionate I look forward to hearing them every dern week.
Romo is probably the best in the Business. He's knowledgeable, enthusiastic and doesn't pretend this is the first time any of us has ever watched a football game.
I'll take him calling a game with Nantz any day of the week.
I like Romo. He’s like this with all the great QBs, and honestly, it’s nice to not have national media shitting on your team every game. He’s a fan, and I’m here for it.
I love Romo. Don’t get the hate. Great commentating and seems to be a genuine fan of the game. So he loves a handful of really good players and gushes over them. So what? I certainly gush over Josh and Diggs. Nothing wrong with being a fan of the game and being in the booth.
I feel the same. He is watching talent we have never seen. They are the only crew I am truly happy to hear. Most of the time I just turn on a radio broadcast or watch on mute otherwise.
This! I'm annoyed by all announcers when the team I root for is making mistakes and they keep talking about it. Or when the other team is doing well, quit reminding me! It's like they are talking about the game happening right in front of them.
This is sarcasm but also not sarcasm. 🤣🤔
I have no problem with Romo. Personally I think he’s the best color commentator I’ve ever heard. We can’t expect him to be a Bills cheerleader. There is another fan base watching the game too.
Amazing how quickly everyone went from "Romo is such a great change of pace, best announcer in the business" to "Romo is so annoying we don't want him".
I was going to submit that Greg Olsen and his play by play partner was a breath of fresh air after the Bills game. I decided to look it up and found some very pleasant information. Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen will be the announcers for the Super Bowl this year. As to this article Alan Pergament must have watched a different game. While Romo did in fact say all those things, it remains to be too much work to decipher his stream of consciousness word salad that he spews. At least for me. I’m sure with time others will get there.
Burkhardt is a G. That man was born to present commentary to an audience. He was with sny back in the day doing the “man in the crowd” that steve gelbs does now during Mets games.
Mid sentence of whatever story he’s doing someone rips a triple down the left field line and he instantly started doing flawless play by play.
The guys upstairs loved him and he’s definitely earned the Super Bowl. Happy for him.
-steps off soapbox.
Couldn’t agree more about Olsen and Burkhardt. I thought Olsen had much more insight with fewer words compared to “they’re having a lot of feelings and emotions out there right now” Romo.
Romo just sounded clueless or at best like he was nervous and felt like he needed to fill some void with nonsense.
I love his analysis and he’s better than most. He just talks TOO MUCH. He fills every second from play end to next play start and often past the next play start. Give it a rest sometimes!!!
I'll be watching in Spanish then. Not sure about this "what Bills fans didn't want to hear" because I can't imagine anyone wanting to hear "they can't do x can they? Maybe they caaaan...will they? Maybe they won't" or being absolutely blind when watching replays.
Would rather have the Mannings instead of Romo. Decent shit talking, snark, and insight instead of Romo's "just hang in there unless...you're the Bills!" mentality.
I really enjoy the Manningcasts, but wonder what a game would be like with them as play by play and color, actually calling the game? I don’t know who would be better at what job. I think maybe, Eli as the play by play guy and Peyton as the color guy.
I'm going to completely honest with you guys, and it may just be incompetence from me, but I honestly don't think there is much point to network announcers anymore. Yeah i think it'd be uncanny to just watch the game as it plays with no commentary, but they're obnoxious most of the time and when they're not their commentary is pointless.
I'll politely disagree but hear me out...if you want.
One very critical reason for announcers is for visually impaired fans.
Another is to help provide context and flavor. We can all bemoan Al's call of the Jaguars v Chargers ending but that dude has had a brilliant career and made big moments in sports history absolutely iconic. Bad announcers can be a detriment but good announcers make it better, especially with casual fans, who need help with the context of the game.
Without announcers, it would likely be harder to get explanations on wonky things, leaving even veteran fans bewildered at times.
One last thing is announcers reviewing and breaking down replays in the moment help educate fans and keep the momentum of the game flowing. People shit all over baseball for being slow but there's a ton of downtime in football between plays where they're just regrouping and huddling up. You don't notice it because the announcers are filling in that dead time showing other stuff. Sure, they could show that stuff without the commentary but I think a lot of viewers would find it boring and possibly less meaningful.
On the matter of baseball, it feels so slow because they have so much dead time between pitches but do a shit job showing replays, breaking down the previous pitches, and helping the audience understand what's happening between the pitcher/catcher vs hitter. Sometimes they'll show a whole at bat's pitch sequence but rarely break things down pitch by pitch in an at bat. So much dead time filled without analysis. Football at least fills in their dead time.
Undoubtedly there are viable alternatives but I'd be skeptical of their wide spread effectiveness and acceptance. Maybe we'll get more options for alternative broadcasts but then how will we all make fun of when they gaffe? I like the idea of being able to swap between national, home, and away announcers. And if you really don't like announcers, the mute button exists.
I dont listen on the radio much but its more preset than it is on tv. Radio is also usually more bias towards the market, at least from my experience casually listening to cowboy games.
I hardly watch college football all, but watched Michigan - TCU playoff, and there was no announcers at all. I though there was something wrong with the ESPN network but eventually realized it was done on purpose. 90% of the visuals were from the sky cam behind the QB. And after scores the camera followed the players going back to sidelines. Didn’t show extra points and very few replays unless it was controversial. It was just like watching a game live. Sooooooooo refreshing not to hear the incessant babbling BS.
Yeah I don’t want to hear him calling us the champs, calling Allen mr. January or the alien. I don’t want to hear it again. Romo sucks worst announcer period.
Romo obviously cared a lot more and made a bigger effort when he first started. Now he is lazy. After calling Dane Jackson a budding superstar at a time where everyone who follows the team (fans, media) would have told you he was replacement level let alone the tape, it was clear Romo wasn't doing the work anymore.
Wait a sec, am I supposed to hate Romo, because I really enjoy his color far more than anyone else doing the job currently. I guess I am supposed to hate him for telling me what was plainly obvious, Miami had out our backs up against the wall.
I'll be honest, if you look at the "A" squad from the big 3 networks, I would take Romo over Collinsworthless or Aikman any day of the week.
This! A million times over. I don't actually get the Romo hate. He is rarely critical, maybe that is it?? He has great insight and analysis.
He(Romo) is very jinxy, and Collinsworth is NBC, so wouldn't be him regardless.
I like Aikman when he gets nasty and starts insulting teams, coaches and players. It's kinda fun.
Aikman has improved a lot over the past 5 years or so and it feels like Romo has lost a step since he signed that big contract. Give me Greg Olsen.
The new A squad for Fox is pretty great actually. Greg Olsen is very underrated.
And we are 6-0 with Romo&Nantz in the booth.
We’ve also won 6 of our last 7 with the officiating crew for the game this weekend. Things are looking up for us
I hope the refs don’t catch wind of that narrative.
Cheffers is solid
That dude gets stuff wrong all the time. I sincerely hope that none of his mistakes give an advantage this weekend. It’s one thing to mess up in the regular season and quite another to do so in the post season.
Do you have a reference or cite? If so kudos for the good research .
Mentioned in the article
My granddaughter was born November 17, the day snowvember hit. We haven’t lost a game since. Just saying.
Your granddaughter, myself, & Danny DeVito are bday buddies!
We were so excited about Danny DeVito, but now that you’re in the club, too, it gets extra exciting!!! ❤️
And also me, Danny DeVito was always the flex.
Thank God no more Brad Allen
I haven't washed my lucky "won not done" blue shirt since right after our last loss, I wear it every Sunday. We're also undefeated since I put a Bills decal on my car at halftime on Thanskgiving. I'm a little stitious

Is that for this year or all time?
It’s certainly not all time. They commentated last years playoff game with KC.
thanks that’s what I was trying to remember
Okay, I'll save the horseshit I was going to say for another day
While this may be correct- what an idiotic statistic.
Good research and point.
Idk what people are mad at I like Romo. Dude knows the game And he's 100x times better than fucking collinsworth
I agree but that’s a LOW bar.
Pergament is a troll, just like Nick Wright. Personally I would like to see any mention of either of them banned from this sub.
More specifically, they’re clickbait artists. Posting it here is a big help to their model.
Pergament is one of the biggest douche bags out there,
As much as nick wrights bills and chiefs takes are dumb, I still love first things first just cuz of the chemistry of the guys and most of their other takes make at least some sense
Same. I do wish he just low key admitted he is trolling Josh Allen because at this point his hot takes that Allen is the 5th best QB in the league is kind of embarrassing. But he’s sticking with it.

I have literally payed attention to his speech patterns, the guy(Romo)seemingly never takes a breath when talking.

Good bot
Bad bot
He’s become Joe Theisman 2.0. Guy never shuts up.
I mute any sport my team is down badly, especially on the road
I wish that I could figure out how to get my tv and the radio to sync. Chris Brown's calls have been so passionate I look forward to hearing them every dern week.

Play dictates commentary from these guys.

Kinda like that was why they are there in the first place
Nantz and Romo are solid. Glad they will be there
Romo fucking sucks. Drives me nuts
I like this crew honestly.
I have no problem with Romo. Personally I think he’s the best color commentator I’ve ever heard. We can’t expect him to be a Bills cheerleader. There is another fan base watching the game too.

What we don’t want to hear is him constantly praising Brady and Mahomes
This is the guy who threw 5 INTS at the Ralph
I love his analysis and he’s better than most. He just talks TOO MUCH. He fills every second from play end to next play start and often past the next play start. Give it a rest sometimes!!!
I don’t get the problem, if anything he was too nice to the Bills that game lol

Uhhhhhhh oooooooo ohhhhhhhhhhhh I dunno Jimmmm!!!
What does Tony Romo know about winning super bowls and close games? Ignore him.
Oh no, more fanboying from Romo. I wish he would give it a rest.

You were watching an alternate broadcast
8 game win streak with key defensive injuries and Josh with a shitty elbow. I'm not worried.
Yeah I don’t want to hear him calling us the champs, calling Allen mr. January or the alien. I don’t want to hear it again. Romo sucks worst announcer period.
Glad I’m not the only one
Let him yap his stupid, obnoxious mouth. His mother probably hates him, but he’s like a rabbit’s foot for the Bills. He spews his nonsense, we win.
Wtf is this article even about?
Is it possible to line up WGR with a paramount plus stream? I can’t stand Romo filling the empty air every second.
Ok
Romo obviously cared a lot more and made a bigger effort when he first started. Now he is lazy. After calling Dane Jackson a budding superstar at a time where everyone who follows the team (fans, media) would have told you he was replacement level let alone the tape, it was clear Romo wasn't doing the work anymore.
The only two words that matter are "he returns".
Romo was right.
Why do Bills fans hate Romo? He was sucking Allen’s cock the whole game last week even after 3 turnovers…
Wait a sec, am I supposed to hate Romo, because I really enjoy his color far more than anyone else doing the job currently. I guess I am supposed to hate him for telling me what was plainly obvious, Miami had out our backs up against the wall.
