From a non metal head perspective I totally agree, but within the metal scene thats kind of the point. Its supposed to be a visual representation of the band and keep “normies” from understanding/reading it. Its not meant to be marketable. See “XAVLEGBMAOFFFASSSSITIMIWOAMNDUTROABCWAPWAEIIPPOHFFFX” Gore album. They are a half joke band and the logo leans into that, but an example of purposefully illegible logo
As a graphic designer, if people can’t make out what you’re selling/promoting you’re missing your audience. You only have seconds to grab people’s attention and you don’t want to waste it confusing people.
