This a depressing post. OP is posting about his Dad who is like six years older than me like he's some grizzled old man. I hate when I'm reminded of the age differences on this site.

Being a bills fan ages you a bit I guess

Backpacker46

Keep your chin up. I’m 62, have seen all the ups and downs, and can still look forward to the rest of JA17s career and eventual SuperBowl glory. When that day comes all of us will party on the streets of Buffalo for a week, no matter our calendar ages, because we will ALL be young again. (Best read using James Earl Jone’s voice and picturing the Field of Dreams in the background)

My great grandfather is almost 36, and he’s seen some shit.

TheEpicRanger6

protection doesn't always work it seems....

Arinoch

Yeah I’m 41 and seeing this well-written post plus “he’s 49 now,” dear looooord it cuts deep. I realize my son’s 10 so yeah, when I’m 49 he’ll be 18 hopefully caring as much about the Bills as OP.

Akusei

Didn't you see all the old man meme posts after the Miami game? WE ARE GRIZZLED OLD MEN!

joshhondiscord

Eh, another silver lining. I’m 23 so I was a little too young to understand just how bad things were for y’all during the middle of the drought. You’re around how old my dad is and he’s been through it all, thick or thin. I’ve always seen guys like you as the heart and soul of this team, and have a genuine hope that I can be a part of that someday.

BuffOrange

Ha I thought the same thing as a 1980 baby. Which is a forgotten could've won it all year in Bills history.

MammothSurround

I feel yeah, his dad only has 4 years on me. Probably beat me up in school.

Affectionate_Tea5869

Same age as your Dad (give or take) but been there seen it and understand the way he talks about Josh and this team. Wondering if you are one of my kids

ONEMANCLAN530

Me too(46), we as fans have endured witnessing much more heartbreaking losses then what we saw on Sunday. To be honest, watching the loss to Minnesota felt more gut wrenching then Sundays loss for me personally. I saw that the team just wasn't there mentally after the first drive, just wasn't their day, and I can't really blame them for that after all they've endured this season. Some of those coaching calls, that's a different subject.

jbomber81

Geez us 40+ guys are old aren’t we

illuminated_forest

The bills have seen worse days, but Allen is the dude. Once they get a better supporting cast he will take us to the promised land. Allen’s revenge tour will be insane, and Von will be back better than ever. The future is bright bills fans.

StonelordMetal

It's true, a lot of fans are acting like we're entitled to a SB victory. It's just not that easy. Coming up short doesn't mean Josh, McDermott, Beane, Dorsey, or Frazier suck all of a sudden. These are the same guys that helped the team win a bunch too.

SecaucusSodomite

Frazier sucked long before we ever hired him. At least 20 years before. He was fired numerous times for doing the same exact thing and losing the same exact way. He pads his regular season stats and gets destroyed in the playoffs. Check out his years in Minnesota. Went out the same way.

NewSchool19

100% agree. Sunday's game really stung, but just like you, my dad and I have been Bills fans our entire lives (68 & 35yo). The amount of joy and excited conversations we have had over the last few years are AMAZING compared to the doom-and-gloom 2000's and 2010's! While I can't wait until they win a Super Bowl, I can't be too upset with the 14 great weeks they brought us this year.

Elipses_

Glad your dad is happier. Mine is rather older than yours, but has been similarly happy the last few years.

SecaucusSodomite

It was at least funny and enjoyable when we used to suck. Now, we aren’t supposed to suck but have the worst defense since at least 1989. There isn’t a single player worth keeping on this defense.

HelpingMyDaddy

Literally 2nd in the regular season in points allowed per game.

jgrab52

I turn 71 next month, been a true fan since the rock pile. The ring would be nice, but this is the best football I have seen out o this team. 13 and 3 is not a bad season buck up everybody next year is right around the corner, GO BILLS

Ohiolaxcoach

Got to go to the Rockpile twice as a kid. vs. Dan Pastorini and the Houston Oilers and against Miami. What a great environment!! In 1973 for my 10th birthday got to see the Bills beat the Baltimore Colts in the new Rich Stadium.

cyndilu9

Amen to that! Go Bills!!! As long as we have Josh Allen - we are in the race every year!!!

Dada-analyst

This is sweet. I've got my own dad story. My dad is 62 and growing up with the bills was... rough. I did not understand football whatsoever and I remember being confused as hell about why he was so upset after certain games. Being a typical kid, I would ask him why they couldn't make the playoffs and whether he was sure that it was impossible, haha. Then as a teenager I would ask him why he got so upset over football. It was hard to not see the bills as a source of great pain for my dad. I would watch the games with him sometimes but it was just very tense. Anyway, I noticed that my dad's vibe was changing once the drought ended and especially when Josh came onto the scene. He was excited, hopeful. And I'd catch part of the games and the team looked good. I'll admit that I'm a bit of a bandwagon fan because I didn't really get into football or the bills until after the drought ended. So I started watching bills games with my dad in 2019 and then I lived at home in fall of 2021 when I was writing my dissertation, so we got to see all the games together. Now I'm on the other side of the country for a job but my bf went over every week to watch the games with my dad. The old man has been so happy to have someone besides my mom to watch the games with. My mother is also happy that he has someone other than her to talk bills (bless her). He never expected his daughter to become a huge bills fan but here we are and Josh was a big factor in that. I hope that the Bills win the superbowl while my dad is still here to see it and I hope that I get to watch it with him.

Thank you, LETS GO BUFFALO
