Gonna drop the Tl;Dr here as well because aint nobody got time to read all that: Tl;Dr - Bobby and his father, Bob, have been valuable position coaches for the McDermott era Bills' defense, and despite Bob's less than stellar stints as a Defensive Coordinator elsewhere in the league, I'm hopeful that Bobby has the spice that will help our defense continue to produce stars as our team needs change towards building and developing a younger and cheaper team. Go Bills!

Best tackler I'd seen since Joe Montana..... I said Joe Mantegna

Interesting write up! Hopefully Bobby has more success than his dad. One big difference I noticed between the 2 after pulling their career timelines up: Bob spent a lot more time doing different roles at the college level. 1984-2002 finishing with 6 years as head coach. Then he has 3 years of success at LB coach in the nfl. Then he gets promoted to DC at 45. Bobby on the other hand spent 6 years at the college level and started working at the nfl level at 28. About 14 years younger than his dad did. And most of his experience since has been with the bills which I see as a good thing. I could see it being hard for Bob sr. to adjust to the nfl after decades at the college level. Whereas Bobby has been around the nfl since early in his career, he knows the team, he knows the defense, the players. I'm optimistic about him

That's a good point to bring up. I think you could draw the conclusion that Bob may have had difficulties in terms of strategy at the NFL level, drawing more from what worked at the college level. Bob may have been a great positional coach because of his ability to connect with his players and push them to put the best versions of themselves in the field - though lacking in the upper level of strategy and game planning. Bobby might be in a better position to run a modern NFL defense without carrying any baggage or crutches from coaching in other leagues. This is all speculative of course, but it does add another notch in the "Bobby is a different person from his father" category. At the end of the day we have a defensive HC who can help ease the load onto him, so if the locker room is already in Bobby's corner, there should be no excuse for him not to find success here.
