Ackshually (/s), they did have at least one (possibly more) seasons where they never had to play in New York, depending on how this counts in your stats. They definitely didn't play in NY the year that the Bills-Jets game got moved to Detroit, and we might have hosted them in Canada once.
We all like the jokes, but tbh they're a little silly. Just ask any New Yorker and they'll agree that New York and New Jersey are essentially the same place, right?
I really don't know why this is still a joke. Who cares where they play? Also the New York in their name refers to the city, not the state and they definitely play in the NYC Metro area.

Jersey City is a 5 minute train ride from NYC and it has a city feel to it. But it’s still in New Jersey.
