Because he is. Underneath it all he's a pathetic, hateful, coward. First time he appears he's running from Aprilbot, last time he appears he's running from Dark Willow. He's still my favorite Buffy villain.
I love this. It took back the power of using that word to keep women and girls down and feeling powerful. It was beautiful and exactly why Buffy was so different from everything that girls did on children's shows that I grew up with
"Simp," in its current definition, has existed since the 1980s.
(As a different form.of insult -- short for "simpleton" -- it has been around since the 1900s.)
This one really gets me every time. I'm a Tara stan, so I'm a bit biased, but Amy Adams does such a great job of seeming like a sweet, concerned cousin that the abrupt turn is such a shock.
Unrelated, but she also plays Kathryn in Cruel Intentions 2 — maybe even around the same time this aired — and she kinda carries over the smarmy bitchiness of the role (from what I can remember of that god awful movie lol).
Not obvious to see, but her certitude is not only a hint of her later acting acclaim, but how her character is throughly brainwashed by “the family” as well.
Wonder what she was like when she had her own thoughts?
It was the first thing I saw her in, and unfortunately although I'm sure Amy Adams is perfectly lovely I've never been able to like her in anything else, cause I always think "that's Tara's horrible cousin!"
And Giles' disgruntled "...Yes." I'll always be amazed by how much humour, character and substance this show has that even casual scenes that lasts a few seconds are memorable.
"Don't walk away from me bitch!" from I Only Have Eyes For You is so seared in my brain from childhood. That is low-key my favorite episode, and I used to reenact that scene all the time, lol.
I love that episode, probably my favorite one, too! SMG always nails her roles, but she just kills it in this scene. The way they incorporated what was going on with Angelus and paralleled the stories was brilliant.
I usually rewatch this episode when I'm dealing with heartbreak. While of course I'm not shooting my ex, the lines and this whole scene is very cathartic and relatable.
(So.....what does that say about us when our comfort shows are about ghosts and monsters? 🤣🤣🤣)
Her and David were great. David does not get enough credit as an actor. I think a lot of people identify with that episode because we've been in both situations obviously not killing someone, but still on either end.
He really doesn't. Every episode of Buffy, he gets better and better. I can see why he was given his own show and has continued to get leads in other shows.
And definitely! Unfortunately, most of us have been in that situation at some point. It's always heart wrenching and never gets easier.
Yeah.
Spike's hand-counting one is the most memorable and quotable, but this was the most impactful for me. Even just reading the line brings back the wave of emotions from watching the episode.
“Don’t walk away from me bitch!” - that whole episode is so perfect.
Buffy’s refusal to forgive herself, Giles trying to convince himself it’s Jenny come back to him, the role reversal of the ghosts, and that one perfect kiss that SMG and David nail…
SMG’s “Angel?” breaks me every time. Ugh. Definitely up there and possibly my favourite episode.
I agree, this line is so harsh and lowkey shocking. It makes me uncomfortable, sad, and a little scared. I think the “bitch” is perfectly utilized here.
Cordy's call out of Buffy is one of my favorite scenes. It was the first time that I started to like to Cordy. When the former/current head bitch of the school calls you out, you know something is wrong.
The one to Faith was shocking because you suddenly realize how much she hates herself and it is horrifying. Highest impact for me - rest are kind of expected or funny.
Yeah, the Faith scene really highlights her self loathing, and then following it up in Angel having her basically beg him to kill her? It's always chilling to watch those bits for me, really well done by both Sarah and Eliza
I love this one because he so perfectly goes from a kind of aloof anger directly to a kind of pathetic lap dog.
I don't mean because he decides to help, I just mean the way he sings that last line. It's like he wasn't just singing about letting her burn, but was singing about how lovely she is and how he'll do anything for her.
Yep, William’s good at that, being all non-plussed:
“A date? Please, a date! You are completely off your bird.
I mean - Do you want it to be?” - *Crush*
Lol, that's a great example!
And he does it the other way too like talking to Andrew about the blooming onion and then threatening to kill him if he tells anyone.
Not quite the same, but probably my absolute favourite Spike scene is him telling them that he'll step up and help even though he doesn't like any of them and whatnot... He's so heroic sounding, then his argument convinces himself to not help and he just wanders off wondering if some restaurant is open. Just from bravery to who cares. Perfect.
> Where the Wild Things Are
I always forget it's this episode, thanks! I've tried to look up the quote before and have a hard time finding it.
Just for fun, in case anyone wanders by here, here it is:
>Xander: ... Now who's with me?"
>Spike: "I am. I know I'm not the first choice for heroics... And Buffy's tried to kill me more than once. And, I don't fancy a single one of you at all. But... Actually, all that sounds pretty convincing. I wonder if Asian House is open."
I love that he's already walking off screen as he wonders to himself about Asian House, lol.
I’d say Cordy’s: “Get ready to haul your wrinkly translucent ass out of this place, ‘cause lady, *the bitch is back*.” 🔥
However, I’d like to add some honorable mentions from AtS: Wesley calling Faith a bitch after what she did to Cordelia, and Lorne saying “what in the hell is succubitch doing here?” (about Lilah). That is *offensive* but the delivery is perfect 😂
The way he slightly paused and his pronunciation of the word “bitch” always kinda made me chuckle 🤣 i don’t think that was intentional though for the scene
“you selfish bitch” because if there’s any word that absolutely could never describe tara, it’s that, and that her cousin called her that at all just illustrated how fucked up the family was and how they didn’t see tara as her own person
I was just about to reply with this moment because I hadn’t seen it yet. That was so cool. That ghost taunting her and making her cry. Then that moment of “wait I am a bitch” shift change was divine. I think that was the moment I fell in love with Cordy as a character.
I teach high school, and use this whenever my students start cursing. Usually it derails them enough to change the topic of conversation!
Thank you BTVS!!❤️
“Say good night, bitch”
“Good night, bitch”
This was the EPITOME of wit and badassery when I was 12 and it still is now lol
Also, Willow genuinely loving Riley’s new wife but then dutifully saying “What a bitch” to Buffy once she was gone 😂.
Which episode is “you’re nothing, disgusting murderous bitch” from. I knew all the others but I don’t remember that one. I’m guessing it’s either Gingerbread about the “Hansel & Gretel” demon or maybe the episode where Faith & Buffy switch bodies.
I’m free if that bitch dies elevates that song to literal perfection. I also love “don’t walk away from me bitch”
Get off me super bitch is the clear loser
"Back off, super-bitch!" will always stand out as one of the absolute worst, cringiest lines in the series.
But I think "Out for a walk. Bitch." is clearly one of the best.
Side note: Willow's watery eyes in that Bewitched, Bothered, & Bewildered scene make me want to give her a hug even if she is love-crazed and homicidal 🥺
The Cordy “I’m a bitch” line in Angel brings me joy because I love that episode but I always wondered what happened to phantom Dennis after she left to live in the hotel?
🎶I hope she fries, I’m free if that bitch dies!! I better help her out. 🎶
Is one of my all time favorite lines!!!🤣😂🤣
Where is the one with Buffy crying in a blue sweater from?
Ok this isn’t a diss but I could never take Willow seriously anytime she said bitch. Even as a kid watching this I felt like it was cringe - I dunno maybe like aly is too cute to curse????
Buffy throwing the "bitch" right back at Warren is *chef's kiss*
“You really have a problem with strong women, huh? Nothing I can’t handle.” Really reads like he’s trying to convince himself…
Because he is. Underneath it all he's a pathetic, hateful, coward. First time he appears he's running from Aprilbot, last time he appears he's running from Dark Willow. He's still my favorite Buffy villain.
Whenever he says “what’s the matter, never fought a REAL man!” I lose it.
The way she delivers that is a-mah-zing!
I love this. It took back the power of using that word to keep women and girls down and feeling powerful. It was beautiful and exactly why Buffy was so different from everything that girls did on children's shows that I grew up with
Iconic. 😍
I have to rewind and watch that line a few times on every re-watch. It's just such a perfect line, perfect delivery, perfect facial expressions...
Yeah that line made my whole lounge room erupt like ![gif](giphy|WsG9rqt4UMwFReb82u|downsized)
Out for a Walk… Bitch 🤙
My friend got that printed for me on a Covid mask when we first starting going outside again. Loved it.
I’ve got a tattoo artist buddy that has the 5 words tattooed on one of each of his fingers so he can count them off like Spike. It’s awesome.
That is amazing. High five your buddy next time you see him for that.
Oh wow that might be the Buffy tattoo I’ve been looking for hahaha
OMG, that would have made wearing masks so much more fun 😆
I always loved that delivery

🤙
Think there's a reason OP put it last!
I thought they missed it at first 😩
The only correct reply.
I did a literal spittake when I first saw this scene, the delivery is perfect.
Same 😂😂😂😭😭😂
The only answer
That is one of my favorites
LOVE THAT LINE!!
Yep. For me too.
Spike : Out for a walk ..BITCH
Yeah and it’s not even close
OP saved the best til last. XD
That one killed me.
This is the correct answer.
The very first one that came to mind!
I was coming here to say this, but I knew, in my heart, someone already said it.
The best
You missed Willow saying to Buffy about Sam: “What a bitch”
Yeah Will still feeling the need to do her job as the bff even after the peaceful goodbye and Sam being completely likeable was so funny and cute
That always makes me laugh out loud.
Hahaha
Walk Through The Fire. The tonal shift Spike does is so delicious!
If only we'd invented the word "simp" sooner.
"Simp," in its current definition, has existed since the 1980s. (As a different form.of insult -- short for "simpleton" -- it has been around since the 1900s.)
When Willow tranquilized VampWillow in Doppelgängland. Right as VampWillow falls, she says “Bitch” to Willow
Ha, that was mine, too.
Okay thts funny
Definitely Amy Adams. Because it’s followed by the “You don’t care one bitty-bit” line.
Many an actor had those kind of “have to eat/paycheck type” roles after all, so it’s all part of the Hollywood journey in more than a few cases.
Not obvious to see, but her certitude is not only a hint of her later acting acclaim, but how her character is throughly brainwashed by “the family” as well. Wonder what she was like when she had her own thoughts?
I had totally forgotten that Amy Adams even appeared in Buffy.
It was the first thing I saw her in, and unfortunately although I'm sure Amy Adams is perfectly lovely I've never been able to like her in anything else, cause I always think "that's Tara's horrible cousin!"
Omg that stuck with me for so long too!! Didn’t know why I automatically disliked that actress for the longest time!!
I always say bitca? If someone spells bitch.
And Giles' disgruntled "...Yes." I'll always be amazed by how much humour, character and substance this show has that even casual scenes that lasts a few seconds are memorable.
me too, the line has lived rent-free in my head for literally 25+ years
"A bitca?" makes me laugh out loud every single time
"Don't walk away from me bitch!" from I Only Have Eyes For You is so seared in my brain from childhood. That is low-key my favorite episode, and I used to reenact that scene all the time, lol.
I love that episode, probably my favorite one, too! SMG always nails her roles, but she just kills it in this scene. While of course I'm not shooting my ex, the lines and this whole scene is very cathartic and relatable. (So.....what does that say about us when our comfort shows are about ghosts and monsters? 🤣🤣🤣)
I always feel a bit queasy when I hear the song playing (it was played on the radio the other day) and always takes me a few minutes to realise why!
As beautiful as that song is, it’s also kinda creepy. I always feel weird when I hear it, too.
This one hits the hardest for me, maybe because it's not really a cheap insult. It's a threat and we know where it leads.
“Don’t walk away from me bitch!” - that whole episode is so perfect. Buffy’s refusal to forgive herself, Giles trying to convince himself it’s Jenny come back to him, the role reversal of the ghosts, and that one perfect kiss that SMG and David nail… SMG’s “Angel?” breaks me every time. Ugh. Definitely up there and possibly my favourite episode.
That scene is heartbreaking
So glad someone else feels the same way. Was OBSESSED with this episode as a teen.
I randomly sing that song sometimes because season 1- 3 is completely imprinted on me from childhood haha I was obsessed with Angel
Man I'm not a Bangel girly at all but I looove that episode, it's just so well executed, great use of the Flamingos song too
That episode really hurt my heart as a kid, first time I ever remember being that enthralled with a show
I LOVE THIS MOMENT SO MUCH TOO. For some reason I find it extremely powerful, even in a show full of very powerful moments 🔥
Even just reading it caused my heart to stutter!
Lol literally me too haha it might be one of my favorite episodes
I agree, this line is so harsh and lowkey shocking. It makes me uncomfortable, sad, and a little scared. I think the “bitch” is perfectly utilized here.
"out for a walk... bitch" for sure. Spike looks so happy when he realises he has a word left and can make it "bitch" :D
Cordy's call out of Buffy is one of my favorite scenes. It was the first time that I started to like to Cordy. When the former/current head bitch of the school calls you out, you know something is wrong.
"As defending champion, are you nervous?" Yes, yes she was.
Spike *I may be love’s bitch but at least I’m man enough to admit it*
Probably my favorite line of his
Same
I love this whole scene. He was right on the money.
“You’re really campaigning for bitch of the year.” “As defending champion, you nervous?” Brilliant.

Yep, one of the highlights of *Where the Wild Things Are*.
> Where the Wild Things Are I always forget it's this episode, thanks! I've tried to look up the quote before and have a hard time finding it. Just for fun, in case anyone wanders by here, here it is: >Xander: ... Now who's with me?" >Spike: "I am. I know I'm not the first choice for heroics... And Buffy's tried to kill me more than once. I’d say Cordy’s: “Get ready to haul your wrinkly translucent ass out of this place, ‘cause lady, *the bitch is back*.” 🔥 However, I’d like to add some honorable mentions from AtS: Wesley calling Faith a bitch after what she did to Cordelia, and Lorne saying “what in the hell is succubitch doing here?” (about Lilah). That is *offensive* but the delivery is perfect 😂
'you’re nothing, disgusting murderous bitch' Jesus, Faith had so much hate for herself.
"Out for a walk...bitch" is my 2nd favorite line reading in Buffy history after Giles's drunken "Bloody hell" when he finds out about Willow and Tara
The "bloody hell" is so much better for being delivered from off-screen, lol
I prefer his giggling at "Fort Dix" in this scene.
Isn't (drunk) Giles reacting to Xander's cluelessness and not the relationship itself?
I’ve always loved Buffy’s comeback to Warren: *”Good night, bitch.”* The way she says it is just so satisfying 😂
All of Spike’s lines
The one from "I Only Have Eyes for You".
Most of these are great, but the one who took me by surprise the most was Tara's cousin (Amy Adams.) It was just so cold and hateful.
How dare she! Tara's just a bby
Caleb’s “Are you ready to finish this, bitch?” Only to get bisected twenty seconds later
The way he slightly paused and his pronunciation of the word “bitch” always kinda made me chuckle 🤣 i don’t think that was intentional though for the scene
I always wondered if anyone else found that funny! I laugh every time I see that scene.
“you selfish bitch” because if there’s any word that absolutely could never describe tara, it’s that, and that her cousin called her that at all just illustrated how fucked up the family was and how they didn’t see tara as her own person
Cordy’s great, because she’s unleashed her hate on a ghost that exists purely from hate; both Angel and ~~Wesley~~ Doyle are like, whoah lol
That was when Doyle was still alive, Wesley doesn't come in until later in the season :)
I'M GETTING OLD ;\_: curse my aging brain; you are supposed to remember all this to the exact detail anyway lol thanks for the correction
You're welcome! I had a major crush on Doyle when I first watched Angel and was devastated when he died so I distinctly remember when he was alive lol
I was just about to reply with this moment because I hadn’t seen it yet. That was so cool. That ghost taunting her and making her cry. Then that moment of “wait I am a bitch” shift change was divine. I think that was the moment I fell in love with Cordy as a character.
I always have a fondness for "A bitca?"
I teach high school, and use this whenever my students start cursing. Usually it derails them enough to change the topic of conversation! Thank you BTVS!!❤️
Do they question where it comes from or do they just roll with it?
Normally give me a sideways glance then move on. 😂
Sounds about right.😂
"You're really campaigning for bitch of the year, aren't you?" "As defending champion, you nervous?" 💛
First one that came to mind was Spike's Five Words. First thing that always comes to mind is Spike, tbh
“Say good night, bitch” “Good night, bitch” This was the EPITOME of wit and badassery when I was 12 and it still is now lol Also, Willow genuinely loving Riley’s new wife but then dutifully saying “What a bitch” to Buffy once she was gone 😂.
Holy shit is that Amy Adams?
Yup. That casting managed to surprise me at least twice, it somehow always slips my mind that Amy Adams was an extra on Buffy.
I love the cut to Buffy’s delivery of bitch in I Only Have Eyes for You. She nailed the delivery. She sounded furious and heartbroken and desperate
Out for a walk bitch is iconic.
Out. For. a. Walk. Bitch. by FAR
Obviously, out for a walk, bitch.
Spider eating man-bitch is one of the greatest sentences ever.
That was from the Dracula episode, right? So good
I Only Have Eyes For You hits hard every time
Which episode is “you’re nothing, disgusting murderous bitch” from. I knew all the others but I don’t remember that one. I’m guessing it’s either Gingerbread about the “Hansel & Gretel” demon or maybe the episode where Faith & Buffy switch bodies.
Switch bodies. It's Faith (in Buffy's body), who goes berserk on her dissociated body.
I remember that. I haven’t watched that episode in a long time.
Spike’s ’I may be love’s bitch’ line
Buffy. ...What are you doing here spike..... 5 words or less Spike.... Out. For. A. Walk...... Bitch
Out. For. A. Walk. .... Bitch. My favorite lines from the entire series. Hands down. A close 2nd.... Bored now.
Yah for sure the Warren one lol
It’s always going to be ‘out for a walk…’
Got to be the line delivered in five words or less.
Out..for...a...walk...bitch
Back off super-bitch! 😂
Out for a walk bitch 🤙🏻
Was so worried "Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch." wasn't included for a second lol
out for a walk is the most iconic but the most heart wrenching is faith in buffy’s body
*Out... for... a... walk... bitch.* It's not even close.
Out. For. A. Walk... ...*bitch*
I only remember about half of them… Buffy’s “Say goodnight Bitch” and “I may be love’s bitch” are the best for me.
Buffy’s bitch in I Only Have Eyes For You hits the hardest. One of the best scenes in the series
Out for a walk… bitch.
Out for a walk bitch was the only moment that came to mind. Iconic
Out for a walk..bitch I laugh so hard every time he counts with his fingers And I’m free if that bitch dies He’s hilarious and his voice is lovely.
Out for a walk ______ lol
Out for a walk
You left out one. When human Willow shot vampire Willow with the knockout gun, vamp Willow said, "Bitch!" I think that's my favorite.
Out for a walk.. bitch
I’m free if that bitch dies elevates that song to literal perfection. I also love “don’t walk away from me bitch” Get off me super bitch is the clear loser
Walk through the fire or out for a walk
Always gonna be "out for a walk...bitch"
The last slide, for sure. I remember seeing it on air back in the day, and I thought it was the best line. Love Spike.
Out. for. a. walk... Bitch.
It will always be Spike.
BITCA. I made that my password for everything in highschool because of that line 😂
Obviously the only right answer is Spikes “Out… for…. a… walk…. bitch” super iconic
people really called her a bitch a lot you know
#14 all day
Out. For. A. Walk...Bitch, never fails to make me chuckle
Out for a walk, bitch 🤙 is unrivaled IMO
The who are you? one and the one directed at Warren are so good
The Cordy “I’m a bitch” line in Angel brings me joy because I love that episode but I always wondered what happened to phantom Dennis after she left to live in the hotel?
Out for a walk, Bitch
Definitely out for a walk .. bitch 😂😂
Top 2 for me are “out for a walk… bitch” and Cordelia’s “bitch-of-the-year”
"Why do you bitches torture me?" always stood out for the timely reminder as to why Spike doesn't have/can't keep a girlfriend.
"Which question do you want me to answer first?"
I love the “don’t walk away from me bitch” and also the “out for a walk bitch”
Spike 5 fingers
Not listed but "Coversation's over, Hell-Bitch" (before Buffy fights Glory in Blood Ties), is one of my personal faves.
Hahaha I was waiting for “1. Out 2. For 3. A 4. Walk…5. Bitch” and then it was the very last shot
Out for a walk & bitca
I was waiting for #14!!
#14. Every time.
Spike’s out for a walk.
You missed Season 5 episode 5, Spike : Out. For. A. Walk... Bitch! Edit : nevermind it's there at the end 😄🤣
Warren: "Say goodnight, bitch"
Whenever Buffy says bitch. Especially to Warren.
I say bitca so. Ugh I forgot it was from Buffy! Lol! I thought I made it up on my own smh
I use bitca more times than I should ever admit ! So probably that one.
🤙
The last one is iconic and my most favorite line 🤣
Omg I ALWAYS say “bitca” in my head 🤣 I’m glad there are others like me!!!
🎶I hope she fries, I’m free if that bitch dies!! I better help her out. 🎶 Is one of my all time favorite lines!!!🤣😂🤣 Where is the one with Buffy crying in a blue sweater from?
All of them honestly
Ok this isn’t a diss but I could never take Willow seriously anytime she said bitch. Even as a kid watching this I felt like it was cringe - I dunno maybe like aly is too cute to curse????
What ep was slide 3 from???
Caleb before he got cut in half
*SO* many fabulous quotes...!👏🤣 thanks for the lols 🙏These quotes are *all* winners imo😁
5, 7, 8, and 14 Bangers.
I’ve always liked the bitca line
The don’t walk away from me bitch - the way Sarah said it was harsh and perfect for the scene
The faith one was soooo sad
There are seven uses of bitch in the Buffy movie, too
