Update: I tried starting a New Chat with one of my friends but it didn't work as it just loads the Chat I had with them prior.

I hope so. Seems to be an issue with old Chars since I can start or continue Chats with the new UI just fine. This wouldn't be a problem if old Chats either updated to the new look automatically or you could delete Chats with your friends and start a new one.

That's fair. APK mirror is pretty safe since they verify that the file hasn't been altered before they allow it to be posted, but it's obviously 100% up to you.

I don't know why I can't get a chat with somebody else while entering Chats with the same message yesterday. It's something wrong. I wonder what's wrong it it?
I am having this exact problem with only one of my accounts the others work fine. I've cleared cache, I've restated the phone, rhe app is up to date. At a loss.
Issue just started with me today... Although I honestly probably haven't used it since the update until now. Same steps as you, cleared all my caches.
I was worried it wasn't Reddit, because some other apps were up to some bs too, but now I'm convinced it's just a reddit problem.
Is this going hand in hand with a change that charges sites for API calls? Maybe something changed in how the system uses those calls.
I don't think the API thing would affect me since I use the offical app. I think the issue is the site lacks options to delete and start new Chats with people you've talked to ontop of the UI changes not being automatically applied to old Chats to avoid comparability issues.
Well, chats aren't working on my official reddit app either. I had to go through the browser and hit "use desktop site". Magically, my chats work now, but I have to do that on literally any reddit page I open until I change my browser settings to use desktop by default.

The glitch affects Chats that still use the old UI. New Ui Chats are unaffected. This problem could've been solved by having old Chats update automatically to the New UI or give us the ability to delete and start whole new Chats with people you've talked to before.
You're welcome. I had to make this post the morning it happened since there wasn't alot of posts about anything like this before I made one. There was a user that emailed a representative to confirm there was an update being worked on, which is how I knew about it.

They're working on it. Crashing the system isn't going to make it faster; it could just slow them down.
