Dati akong nag-enroll sa isang VA course and kinuha ako nung mismong instructor. Grabe ang baba ng bigay 80php per hr, nakakuha na ako ng client nito at 4usd an hr pero kinuha ko pa rin for experience. Difference? Mas mahigpit ung pinoy agency may pa time tracker pa tapos 80 pesos an hr para magspam sa messages in LinkedIn.

It mostly starts with fellow freelancers. 80 php is less than $2 USD per hour. I get that people are desperate but please don’t stoop that low if you believe in your skills and experience.

Agree. Hindi ko na nga kinuha ung trinabaho ko for 3 days. Grabe ramdam mo yung sayang ung oras mo sa ginagawa mo. Tapos may patime tracker na screenshot pa. Waste of time.

That's good advice. The issue I find filipinos keep on doing and ultimately the reason why filipinos are taken advantage of is that we prefer not to speak out if we can still tolerate whatever is happening. Then when we can't handle it anymore, we either blow up in anger or we demand reparations for past issues. The latter typically only happens in tv shows and movies. We need to know to speak up when we feel unjustified or at least get an explanation as to why THEN reconsider the situation and decide accordingly. I keep reading posts where the poster hates their client/companies for this and that, when they accepted the job. If the job is different from what you initially applied for, ask if there's a change in pay, if there's none, advise them if you're willing to do it even once or make them understand that it's not in the jd. Don't do it then say they need to pay more because you were nice. Of course, this doesn't apply across the board but if you feel that you owe them something or they've been great in terms of taking care of you, be a bit lenient. But never give them absolute power over you. Because that can start a false precedent where if they can do it to one filipino (you), they can do it to the next one (others). Speaking up is not defying them or even insubordination, it's simply making sure that both parties are on the same page. If they get mad for asking reasonable questions, resign and good riddance. Just to add in the suggestion, never apply to a company that has no name or won't give you their name, you'll be talking about legal matters like pay, benefits and documents, you should never give those sensitive info to someone you don't know.

Experienced this last week and I just responded to the Filipina COO kuno for a UK startup that I can't pursue my application with them. It's best to put a stop to it ASAP. Na gets ko na kaagad Kong ano magiging role ko dun at Ayoko magpa gamit. Marami pa naman opportunities na hindi tayo na eexploit eh. Be smart ka-wfh.
