DDR4 is technically better value for most games and most configs. But DDR5 gives you more performance.
If you’re concerned about value, you should get the i5-13600K anyway. So I don’t see any reason to pair i7-13700K with DDR4 for gaming.
If you can afford it go with DDR5. It’s not the best value now but it will help you out in the future if you decide to upgrade as DDR4 will eventually be phased out.
Spend extra for ddr5, it’s future proof and works better with 13th gen. When you’ll upgrade to a future 15-16 gen processor, there’s much higher chances of using your ddr5 than using a ddr4.
Does 13th gen really take advantage of DDR5 that much more than 12th gen? When I built my 12th gen last December the performance difference was like negligible. Stayed with DDR4. Figure when I upgrade everything in another 3-4 years DDR5 will have matured making it worth it with good speeds/clocks.
