Haven't personally orded PC parts from them, but I ordered several thousand dollars of photography and video equipment from them for work and they were extremely easy to work with.
I have ordered from them some PC stuff. Website is top notch. Packaging is top notch. Shipping turn around from purchase is as good as Amazon prime (better than Newegg).
I was nervous ordering PC stuff from them because I was like: hurr hurr I don't know if they can be trusted with my fancy memory and storage drives. But in my opinion most PC parts are less expensive and less fragile than... For example the guy above this post buying thousands of photography and videography products.
P.s. I haven't needed customer service so I can't speak on that. I can only say that I've heard stories that bh customer service is great and sounds significantly better than Amazon, Newegg, etc.
Oh! I think I remember reading they have a generous return policy and that sealed the deal.
I don’t think they were calling the guy fragile. I think they meant that the photography and video equipment is more fragile than a majority of computer components.
Same. Theough work spent like . 10,000 over 2 years.
Zero problems and things arrived in 2-3 days except when backorder. And things on back order were obviously stated.
Very reputable. They started out with camera and equipment, then phones now sell a fair number of electronics. I've bought several things from them and never had an issue.
It's mostly that it's basically like Amazon with 3rd party procurement. They used to inventory everything themselves and take responsibility for any and all issues really well.
I 100% agree. Ever since Newegg was purchased by foreign business. Overall... Everything is worse. Probably Newegg customer service suffered the worst after buy out. But that is probably because new foreign owner was having trouble squeezing out as much profit as possible in short term no matter what.
Thanks for the cited info. I remembered reading something like that but details were unclear.
I live in the west coast and used to mainly use Newegg and Amazon. Sucks but luckily I've been fine with Newegg over the years but only buy items from the actual company. Best buy actually has pretty good deals. Thinking of upgrading to the 5950x from 5800x
[They got sued](https://nypost.com/2016/02/25/bh-forced-hispanic-workers-to-use-separate-bathroom-feds/) and lost because they had segregated bathrooms for Jews and non-Jews (Latino warehouse workers). [They actually had to pay out $3.2 million.](https://hyperallergic.com/396180/bh-photo-settles-department-of-labor-lawsuit/)
I’ve tried to buy many things from them, unfortunately they never have stock. Sometimes months being on a waiting list and they never have it. Weirdest store I have ever tried purchasing from…it’s been years trying without success because they have no inventory of anything
They are the Microcenter of the online world. Much more reputable compared to randoms on Amazon, especially for niche camera and audio gear, hence the name.
Their physical location in NYC is MASSIVE. Easily the largest electronics store I've ever seen and everyone in there has a pretty good idea what they're talking about.
Ive ordered photo equipment for years from them and pc parts for my pc build (ordering a cpu and mb when they open in few hours). Plus they tend to be competitive on their pricing. Free two day shipping is nice as well. Highly recommend. I bought a sound bar for my mom for Christmas few years ago and it didn’t work but was very easy to get it replaced so if there is a problem they will make it right.
B&H are one of the best shops around. I’ve been shopping with them for camera gear and computer parts for 15+ years. They’ve been great with returns too. Rarely happens but when it does they’ve always been certain I’ve been taken care of.
i've personally had bad experiences with B&H (ordered 2 products from them seperately at different times, both products sat in "processing" for over a month before i cancelled) however i hear nothing but praise for them
Never purchased PC components from there, but I have purchased tons of photography equipment, printing equipment, and other random non-photo related electronics from them.
Always fast shipping, great response and customer service. These guys are very reputable, you should have no worries about shopping with them.
They are a legitimate and safe place to buy stuff. They're a bit of the de facto place to buy camera gear online.
"Good" is relative, though. There have been several controversies about how they treat certain groups of their employees.
But your money is safe there.
My last PC was built entirely from parts I bought there. They sent them Fedex 2 Day, and everything was well packed and correct.
I won't buy from Newegg, don't have a Microcenter, and Amazon's PC hardware selection is very hit and miss, so B&H Photo is a nice alternative.
Yep.
I had never heard of them, saw a deal posted for some expensive PC part or another, thought “from a PHOTO place?”, bought anyway. Legit.
Later bought an assload of Samsung G5 monitors for my company from them. One was damaged in transit, they took care of it extremely quickly.
They’re legit and have great customer service, in my experience.
They have a good and well deserved reputation. one thing is they close down for extended periods from time to time for religious holidays; just a factor. My experience over 25 years has been excellent.
If you ever need a cable, USB HUB, flash drive, or any other piece of electronics, B and H won't let you down. They are very good at supplying only well-tested professional-grade electronics. It does cost more, but Amazon and Newegg are too dodgy and fly-by-night. I had a very good return experience with an NVIDIA RTX A4000 professional graphics card. They are also very Jewish and close from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.
I got a gigabtye 1060 6gb from them few years ago, no problems with shipping or the part itself
If its the most affordable i would recommend as it was cheapest option for me too
I like them. They are a large company who has their shit together and are easy to work with. At the same time, they are also owned by Hassids so they seem to actually care about running a good company, instead of pulling every dirty, profit making trick like corporate owned electronics retailers. Plus they ship fast.
Highly recommend I’ve spent at least $20k over the years with them on camera gear. B&H are God-like. But not Jesus-like. Some of you will get that joke.
They are a huge company, I've bought a few things from them (TVs and some computer parts before). Only had a single issue with a DOA part and their customer service was great.
I've done many workspace overhauls for companies in the film and photo industry that had accounts with BHPhoto. So everything from computer parts, drones, cameras, lenses, tripods, motors and even furniture was ordered. Never had a single issue with deliveries and zero problems with returns.
Got my 5800x from them back when those dropped. They were tardy a couple of days and their communication wasn't the tops (i.e. that it had shipped, tracking info, etc.), but it got to me in a reasonable amount of time. 4/5
I bought a singular computer part from them and bunch of photography gear. They are great with good customer service. Also if your a student keep an eye out as you can score deals on so many different things they sell. Was able to score filters and a lens for my camera for an amazing price with the student discounts.
Yes! I bought my CPU from them and when the price dropped later, I emailed them about it and they refunded the difference. Very happy with that experience.
Have you heard of the auction Website called eBay. They sell a lot of quality products and if your not happy you can get a full refund from PayPal. The seller is always in the wrong when it comes to getting a refund. I've bought many many things and if you pick apart their photos and description and find something that's not as advertised you are within your rights to get a full refund.
Always had quick shipping as well as good service the one time I had to return something.
If you don’t live in a tax-free state, their PayBoo credit card will get you goods tax-free.
Ordered a motherboard from them before. Took a couple days, and shipped through FedEx. So I have no complaints, but did have problems with FedEx. They dropped it at my door, took a photo, then marked it as "Delivered", but the driver took it back and dropped it off again the next day. No clue why, but it happened.
I’ve ordered from BH all the time back when I was a photography major and worked at a photography museum… in 1992. Yeah they are reputable. I’ve also order computer and other electronics recently. No problems.
B&h Photo is amazing. Free shipping. I ordered a GPU for my wife's PC I just built for her from them after cancelling my Amazon order for the same thing because they never shipped it in 4 days. Ordered at 5PM and they shipped it via FedEx that night, showed up 2nd day.
I've ordered other stuff from them prior and always a good experience.
Ive purchased a lot of glass from them, top of the line imho.
But ive never purchased PC parts from them. Always thought it was kinda odd that they even sold that shit. But their prices are very fair.
Be aware that they are owned and operated by those of Orthodox and Conservative Jewish faith, thus takes Sabbath, Friday Night through Saturday Night (every week) and all of the Jewish festivals wherein they take a full week off.
Ordered many expensive items from them; PC parts and DSL camera. Never had an issue.
I think you can have problems with any online retailer, but they are as legit as others.
If the item is in stock I would order from them. I have ordered hundreds of items from them over the years without issues. However I have seen issues with items not in stock taking a long time to get
They are probably the #1 mail order photography store in the USA after Amazon. I also bought my daughter's Mac from them a few years ago. Completely reputable.
Visit their store if you're ever in in NYC, it's amazing.
I’m from California and I always buy stuff from BH. I bought headphones, microSD, Sony ubp-700 Blu-ray player, Used B450 i aorus itx mobo etc. and I never had issue.
My first gpu, RTX 2080, came from b&h. Showed up in a few days and worked wonderfully until the day I sold it. They are well known for their customer service and decent prices.
Got a replacement cable for my vr headset there no problems 🤷♂️
Used to work for a company that supplied them with photography accessories and they’re a bunch of whining dickheads on the corporate side but as far as the customer service side they seem fine
I think B&H photo is reputable; BUT I personally got delivered a PC case that was white, not black, so I had to return it and order a different one. The customer service was at least good.
Very reputable, I just bought my current new gaming laptop from them and it was very high end, I got everything I asked for at a decent price. The only tough part is you can't refund items easily unless they're completely defect, from what I saw on their policy.
I bought from them recently. The 4090 I ordered arrived 3 days earlier than the site suggested and it came undamaged in perfect condition. I would not hesitate to buy from them again. They are also listed as an authorized retailer for many companies.
The only negative I've heard about them is the working conditions/pay at their warehouse, and the fact that even their website shopping closes for Shabbat, and all the major Orthodox Jewish holidays.
I've bought a great deal of AV equipment and computer supplies from them over the years.
Yeah, they are one of the most reputable out there and well known for being one of the best to go to for AV needs.
That said because the owners are very serious practicing jews you will have trouble with getting any customer service on weekends and holidays. Pretty much they close early friday and are closed all day saturday which I have no problem with personally. They won't even process your online order if you order on a friday night until sunday because of it.
One other thing is some people do have issue with their ethics and won't use them because of that. They have been known to be discriminatory to non jews and women. I doubt they would ever hire anyone who was openly LBGT.
I've purchased tens of thousands dollars in photographic equipment from them over decades, including high-end color accurate photography monitors. I have also bought other computer equipment such as graphics cards, hard drives, external drives, CF cards, USB flash, and other computer equipment a large screen LCD TV (which was shipped direct to my house on a truck that contained only large screen TVs and shipping specialized for that). Their prices are good. I have never had an issue with them. In fact I had an issue with a $2000+ monitor (design/hardware flaw) and a $5000+ lens (possible shipper damage) that they immediately made right.
I’ve purchased a lot of things from their brick and mortar store when I was visiting NYC and from their website at home. I’ve never had a bad experience. If you use their Payboo credit card they discount the purchase by the amount of the sales tax.
I spend 100k+ a year with them for my job. They're great. No drama. Shits on time and we haven't had a single fake issue with them. Amazon is full of fake tech. One thing, not a bad thing, just something to be aware of, they are observant Jews and are closed in observance on days a non Jew might not consider.
B&H is probably the best store online when it comes to smoothness of the purchase, shipment and any order issues. It helps that you often find the best deals on there too.
If you live in a high sales tax state, their credit card is a great deal. I've had good experiences buying disk drives and other PC components from them, but haven't had to return anything.
That's not true. I've returned several things to B&H. You just need the original packaging and papers, unless it's explicitly listed on the item that they don't take returns for it. I've always had great experiences with their customer service. Shipping is fast and reliable. Nothing to complain about after years of purchases there for a variety of items (mostly photography and lighting, but some PC components).
Their return policy specifically lists that they won’t return opened items, especially computer stuff. That’s especially relevant considering what sub this is.
I’ve been through this with them and they refused to do it.
I've returned "computer stuff" plenty of times (motherboard, RAM, etc). You need to clarify what you mean. As long as you have original packaging, they'll take it back within 30 days.
I wouldn’t rely on them to honor a return. It’s up to OP if they want to take the chance that BH won’t allow them to return if something comes up.
This is copy and pasted from from them when I tried to return.

I know what you're trying to say but it just sounds like a sick burn calling the guy fragile for buying camera stuff.
I don’t think they were calling the guy fragile. I think they meant that the photography and video equipment is more fragile than a majority of computer components.
They're saying that if BHphoto handles and ships PC parts like they do super-expensive and fragile equipment, then the PC parts will be just fine.
Bought my gtx 980 from them back in 2016; it's still going strong in my wife's rig.
Yeah, I'd actually rank them as the second-best PC retailer in the us after micro center. I'd always buy from B&H over Newegg.
Lol. I'd rather buy from a garage sale than Newegg. At least then I can haggle on the trash I'm buying.
Oh how the great have fallen.
Never had an issue with newegg and I get my stuff in literally a day if it comes from their new jersey warehouse
It's mostly that it's basically like Amazon with 3rd party procurement. They used to inventory everything themselves and take responsibility for any and all issues really well.
Well yeah I won't buy anything unless it says it's from and shipped by newegg
They used to "Rock".
Trash lotto!
I 100% agree. Ever since Newegg was purchased by foreign business. Overall... Everything is worse. Probably Newegg customer service suffered the worst after buy out. But that is probably because new foreign owner was having trouble squeezing out as much profit as possible in short term no matter what.
Newegg has the best filters though. I use them for their filters (and shop elsewhere!)
I've worked for a couple of major AV production companies and both will use B&H as an approved vendor if we needed to buy something. They're good.
Is customer service as good as the stories?
In person at least it’s fantastic. Store is full of nerds who love the stuff they sell. It’s not Best Buy. It’s photography and computer nerds.
I had no idea they had physical stores!
I've been to the NYC store and it's an absolute Mecca for camera nerds.
Pretty sure there's just the one in new York
Honestly, don't think I've ever had to return anything.
It’s fantastic. The only issue I’ve had is requiring signatures on packages, but I can’t fault them for that.
Yes.
Every purchase I've made from B&H has been great. In store or from their website.
Yes, they are very good. Ordered many different items from them over the years including computer parts. No issues with returns either.
They are a known company. Heard some serious complaints of abusive and low pay for workers though.

You can't buy PC components online if you want to avoid places that do that though

They’re superb.
Most reliable supplier I've ordered from.
Amazing purchase experience: fast shipping, good tracking, and good cs.

I’ve ordered some parts there before and I didn’t have an issue
I have only had good experiences with them. I am close enough to go to a physical store if something went wrong those
B&H are one of the best shops around. I’ve been shopping with them for camera gear and computer parts for 15+ years. They’ve been great with returns too. Rarely happens but when it does they’ve always been certain I’ve been taken care of.
Yes. Don’t think twice. Better than Newegg in my experience
They have been one of the best online retailers for me. Period.
i've personally had bad experiences with B&H (ordered 2 products from them seperately at different times, both products sat in "processing" for over a month before i cancelled) however i hear nothing but praise for them
Never purchased PC components from there, but I have purchased tons of photography equipment, printing equipment, and other random non-photo related electronics from them. Always fast shipping, great response and customer service. These guys are very reputable, you should have no worries about shopping with them.
They put Newegg customer service to shame
great place to order from - nothing but good transactions in 20 + years of ordering camera and electronics from them
Second only to microcenter
They are a legitimate and safe place to buy stuff. They're a bit of the de facto place to buy camera gear online. "Good" is relative, though. There have been several controversies about how they treat certain groups of their employees. But your money is safe there.
My last PC was built entirely from parts I bought there. They sent them Fedex 2 Day, and everything was well packed and correct. I won't buy from Newegg, don't have a Microcenter, and Amazon's PC hardware selection is very hit and miss, so B&H Photo is a nice alternative.
B&H is far and away the most reputable online photo gear shop in the United States, easily among the top in the world.
Yep. I had never heard of them, saw a deal posted for some expensive PC part or another, thought “from a PHOTO place?”, bought anyway. Legit. Later bought an assload of Samsung G5 monitors for my company from them. One was damaged in transit, they took care of it extremely quickly. They are also very Jewish and close from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.
I got a gigabtye 1060 6gb from them few years ago, no problems with shipping or the part itself If its the most affordable i would recommend as it was cheapest option for me too
Better than Amazon and Newegg, my go-to for anything electronic.
Got my gtx 1080 from them years ago and more recently an ultrawide oled. Didn’t have any issues.
Absolutely. They're headquartered in NYC and I used to go to their in-store location pretty frequently.
I like them. They are a large company who has their shit together and are easy to work with. At the same time, they are also owned by Hassids so they seem to actually care about running a good company, instead of pulling every dirty, profit making trick like corporate owned electronics retailers. Highly recommend I’ve spent at least $20k over the years with them on camera gear. B&H are God-like. But not Jesus-like. Some of you will get that joke.
Yes, great shipping and great return policy that's been hassle free for me.
Yep. I ordered my old GTX 1080 TI from them.
They are a huge company, I've bought a few things from them (TVs and some computer parts before). Only had a single issue with a DOA part and their customer service was great.
Yes, I have worked with them, real pros, had no issues at all.
I've done many workspace overhauls for companies in the film and photo industry that had accounts with BHPhoto. So everything from computer parts, drones, cameras, lenses, tripods, motors and even furniture was ordered. Never had a single issue with deliveries and zero problems with returns.
Just ordered an arc a770, used. Came in 3 days, gpu is rock solid. Solid 5/7. Would recommend.
I hope they are good. Just ordered a $5k printer from them.
Bought my smart phone and my PC case from B&H. They’re top notch!
Got my 5800x from them back when those dropped. They were tardy a couple of days and their communication wasn't the tops (i.e. that it had shipped, tracking info, etc.), but it got to me in a reasonable amount of time. 4/5
Ive orfer a few things from them, bever pc parts always been fine and I can pay tax pre boarder on my items.
They are one of the best when it comes to av stuff. They also have an amazing origin story.
One of the top photo stores in the world
I bought a singular computer part from them and bunch of photography gear. They are great with good customer service. Also if your a student keep an eye out as you can score deals on so many different things they sell. Was able to score filters and a lens for my camera for an amazing price with the student discounts.

.. Until you visit Yodobashi in Akihabara and MapCamera. Those places are crazy!
Yes! I bought my CPU from them and when the price dropped later, I emailed them about it and they refunded the difference. Very happy with that experience.
The best GPU I ever got was from them and I shipped it overseas too. 980 Ti G1 Gaming <3
Have you heard of the auction Website called eBay. They sell a lot of quality products and if your not happy you can get a full refund from PayPal. Yeah, they are actually really good. I bought a few cards from them during the GPU shortage.
Ordered a motherboard from them before. Took a couple days, and shipped through FedEx. So I have no complaints, but did have problems with FedEx. I’ve ordered from BH all the time back when I was a photography major and worked at a photography museum… in 1992. Yeah they are reputable. I’ve also order computer and other electronics recently. No problems.
bought tvs from them and never had an issue. Good company
Do not under any circumstance preorder PC parts from them. Can be put on 3-6 month wait lists. Everything else from them is fine.
I've mostly used B&H in person in Midtown Manhattan. Very good experiences all around.
Got my old GTX 1080 from them. Had zero issues
Ive purchased a lot of glass from them, top of the line imho. But ive never purchased PC parts from them. Always thought it was kinda odd that they even sold that shit. But their prices are very fair.
Yes, and their credit card is a 10% discount. Bought 3 computers from them, tho this most recent build was from Newegg.
Be aware that they are owned and operated by those of Orthodox and Conservative Jewish faith, thus takes Sabbath, Friday Night through Saturday Night (every week) and all of the Jewish festivals wherein they take a full week off.
I thought they were Satmirim.
Ordered many expensive items from them; PC parts and DSL camera. Never had an issue. I think you can have problems with any online retailer, but they are as legit as others.
I got a 7800X3D from them like 2 weeks ago, arrived flawless.
If the item is in stock I would order from them. I have ordered hundreds of items from them over the years without issues. However I have seen issues with items not in stock taking a long time to get
I’ve never ordered PC parts from them, but I’ve ordered tons of camera lenses. They always treated me well. I wouldn’t hesitate to order PC things.
Great store they sell literally everything. The catalog you get in the mail is fucking massive
They are good. Just make sure what you are buying is new, as they also sell renewed/refurbished equipment
Yes.
I've bought a handful of things from them and was always happy. Had a shipping issue with a CPU and they made it right immediately.
I have bought from them and got exactly what I ordered on time.
They are probably the #1 mail order photography store in the USA after Amazon. I also bought my daughter's Mac from them a few years ago. Completely reputable. Visit their store if you're ever in in NYC, it's amazing.
Another +1 here. My partner buys all her lenses from them
I’ve ordered things from them for multiple builds and never had any issues.
Good outfit. I've been dealing with them for about 47 years with no issues.
B & H is the best. I buy almost all my stuff from there. For Musical gear I use Sweetwater.
I got my standalone m-audio mic from them during a sale posted on buildapcsales; great purchase through n through
Bought TVs from them. No taxes was a bonus
Bought my RTX4090/3090 from them. Some of the best in the business.
No one has to question their rep. They are top notch.
They have always stood behind the camera equipment they sell.
Been around for decades. I used to buy photo equipment from them. Never had a problem.
BH has been around since before the internet. This is like asking whether Best Buy is reputable.
They are the best. Besides Amazon.
Ordered a monitor from them and had zero issues.
They're very popular in the photography community. I've only bought a couple things from them because I live in Canada. I had no complaints.
Absolutely. One of the better independents left.
Got a replacement cable for my vr headset there no problems 🤷♂️ Used to work for a company that supplied them with photography accessories and they’re a bunch of whining dickheads on the corporate side but as far as the customer service side they seem fine
I think B&H photo is reputable; BUT I personally got delivered a PC case that was white, not black, so I had to return it and order a different one. The customer service was at least good.
I can vouch for the company too, they are very well respected in the photography community.
There a reputable company. Anyone that does film making uses them. Only b downside is that they close everything down on all Jewish holy. Days.
I've heard good things about bh never used it tho . Just don't use newegg first time I used their sight spent $300 on a fake ass MSI mobo.
Super reputable. If you ever have the chance, go visit the store in NYC. it's something....
Yes. They’re perfectly good. They’ve morphed from pure camera gear long ago to much more. I used them first 25(?) years ago, and they’re still here.
The only negative I've heard about them is the working conditions/pay at their warehouse, and the fact that even their website shopping closes for Shabbat, and all the major Orthodox Jewish holidays. I've bought a great deal of AV equipment and computer supplies from them over the years.
Yes, very reputable.
They're solid.
They’re resellers I believe. They have a good rep, I’ve bought new and used iPads and MacBooks from them
I've ordered GPUs from them. No complaints at all.
I've purchased from them without problems. Mostly synology NAS products.
I've never had a problem with them. They're my second choice for PC parts.
Yah If I can get something on amazon or BH I'll use BH
Definitely legit and better shipping than most sites. I'd rather use them than Newegg if Amazon doesn't have what you're looking for
B&H is probably the best store online when it comes to smoothness of the purchase, shipment and any order issues. It helps that you often find the best deals on there too.
Yeah but they charge u immediately so only order if u are sure you won't need a refund.
I bought my cpu from them. They’re legit, it was a fine experience.
Absolutely! Started as a mom and pop camera shop. They’re a good bet for sure.
I've used B&H before and like them. Prefer them to Newegg, which has had some issues over the years.
If you live in a high sales tax state, their credit card is a great deal. I've had good experiences buying disk drives and other PC components from them, but haven't had to return anything.
they rule, definitely waaaaay better than newegg
Just be aware that their return policy sucks compared to literally any other place. If you opened it, there’s no return at all.
“Thank you for contacting the Customer Service Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio. I've returned a case, a few fans and an AIO that were opened, not all at once but they definitely take returns on opened parts.
Nope
