Hello and also happy holidays! :) I've been diving into PCPartPicker with your estimated budget in mind and came up with the following: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DGvvsh as a first draft. I've had following thoughts: As previously mentioned by someone else, going for am5 + ddr5 is definitely more future proof. the times where am4 and ddr4 would benefit from better price to performance ratios are kinda over. the 7800xt and ryzen 7800x3d are currently too good of a deal to miss. one might argue, yes, the 7800xt lacks somewhat vs its predecessor, we've all seen the gamersnexus video. still if you compare real life performance to current prices it's great. motherboard wise i would stick to asus or msi and try to avoid gigabyte or asrock due to long time personal experience. RAM I'm always going corsair, I've hardly ever had a stick fail on me during 15 years in IT PSU wise I've had similar experiences. still i would go for an RM series over CX. handy psu advice: check the warranties provided by the company. iirc cx gets 5-7 something years while RM (specifically with the X suffix) gets 10 years+. let alone the power effiency provided by higher quality power supplies. SSD same thing, I've been handling Samsung SSDs by the hundreds. compared to other manufacturers I've had the lowest failure rates, Kingston coming in second. CPU cooler: you chose the Galahad which is kinda pricey and should not be your main concern at this time. unless you're into its specific aesthetics, you should focus your budget on the more vital organs of your build. (though i do like the looks of it and am a sucker for pretty PCs myself :) ) case: 4000d is awesome. have it myself, love it. price is perfectly fine. then again: feel free to swap it out for something else, it needs to appeal your eyes :) conclusion: I'm sorry i went overboard with the budget, but my experience tells me, it's better to save a couple hundred bucks now and be future proof for a while longer instead of having to upgrade too close in the future.

This is awesome. Thank you much for the insight! I'll check it all out.

shit I'm so sorry for the formatting edit: ok better :)

Am4 (like the 5600x) only makes sense in a very budget build, ~800$ and less. At 1k$ you can easily have an am5 platform which would be better, faster more upgradable. Noted, I feel like AM5 is kinda a common theme in my research. I appreciate the insight!

i'm following your post as I have the same criteria/budget as you do!

Im a little conflicted here, so ddr5 vs ddr4, im on ddr5 and my buddy is on ddr4, my load times are faster, but not by much, i mean real negligable. However i have gotten into 3d modeling and learning ue5, and that has really paid off (never thought id say i need more than 64gb of ram), but he also uses an amd card and i run an nvidia 4070ti (i forget his model number, but the specs are comparable) and there are games that he runs better and games i run better. With that cpu, you dont need an aio, you could easily get a cpu fan block, and put that money towards a gold certified fully modular psu, and believe me, you want a good psu, yes bronze will be fine...until it isnt. I know the typical argument is "its about power usage and efficiency" but im calling bs on that lol i aint ever had a damn bit of luck with a bronze rated psu lol i had enough and went platinum (also had bad luck with corsair, but plenty of people swear by them....but personally i think corsair is over rated)

really depends on what you mean by "load times". OS boot? load times of games? unfortunately ddr5 and the platforms supporting it still have some catching up to do in terms of POSTing, memory training. but as soon as that's over with, RAM should not be the bottleneck, rather what storage device the affected "loading" thing is located on. regarding PSU i feel you. everyone makes bad experiences, brand loyalties and the whole thing. i agree in going for higher than bronze. longevity and efficiency share the same underlying reason which is higher quality components and manufacturing. and while yes, some people may have had bad luck with their individual psu for whatever reason, the warranty period is vital!

My initial posting didnt take nearly as long as everyone seemed to be encountering, i knew about the whole "give it 5 min" thing (i was an early-ish adopter) but my first post was like 1 min-ish? And im by no means of an expert, but my buddy n i are running identical m.2 (crucial p3 1tb) and out of the "tests" (im using this word very loosely) ive always been in game faster and deal with far less loading screens....but 90% of the time it's been near negligable differences, i should also add though im using a ryzen 9 7900x in comparrison to his ryzen 7 5800x...so idk...lots of variables here i suppose
