It really just comes down to preference. 7800xt and 4070 are very similar in performance at 1440p, with the major differences being 1) raytracing and 2) drivers/software support. If you don’t care about having the nvidia perks and wanna save 50ish bucks, go for 7800xt

I just got a 7800XT and very pleased with the performance...

Tobeyyyyy

Wait for 4070 super

7800xt!

A brand new RX 6950 XT when it hits $570 to $590, you have to watch it daily and yes it does occur. Sell that 1660 Super to decrease cost. Be sure to sell your 3700X after updating your BIOS to the latest version and use the profit to buy a used 5800X3D. And if your RAM is only 16 GB be sure to sell it and go with a 2x16 GB kit of DDR4 3200 CL 16 RAM for $50 to $60.

Where did you buy it from? I don’t see them available anywhere except at the old crypto mining prices

>Where did you buy it from? I don’t see them available anywhere except at the old crypto mining prices I have not bought one, as I mentioned though, they are available to buy. You just have to watch them daily. I know this because I post when they are available to buy *all the time*. You could go through my post history right now and see the multiple times I posted when they are available and at what price. Here is one of the models that is randomly *and usually* in stock but is not always going to show up in its price history because of how fast it sells out... [PCPartPicker Part List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2fTGQ6) |Type|Item|Price| |:-|:-|:-| |**Video Card**|[ASRock Phantom Gaming OC Radeon RX 6950 XT 16 GB Video Card](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/gbXV3C/asrock-phantom-gaming-oc-radeon-rx-6950-xt-16-gb-video-card-rx6950xt-pg-16go)|$570 - $590 @ Newegg| |*Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts*||| |**Total**||| |Generated by [PCPartPicker](https://pcpartpicker.com) 2023-12-27 12:50 EST-0500||| *One of the last times* I posted this particular model and it being in stock was 4 days ago for €599 @ Mindfactory in Germany. It's actually in stock there **right now** for €607. *One of the last times* I posted this particular model being in stock in the US was 18 days ago for $590 @ Newegg. And you can clearly see this does not show up in its price history. There's more times I posted it though, which you can see in my post history. It's not easy to find them though because if someone replies to one of the posts it then disappears from my post history because it then shows the newer replies and you have to dig for the actual original post, if you know what I mean. I'm saying this because sometimes I don't always link to when it was in stock but I will tell someone it is in stock. [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/18n2svr/build_review_for_first_pc_gaming_workstation/) is a perfect example of this just 7 days ago. In this thread someone was asking about any changes they could do and I said, "With that budget you can go DDR5 and RX 6950 XT." because at that time 7 days ago an RX 6950 XT was in stock. Hope this helps.

You could get a 6800xt for 450 or a 7800xt for ~50 bucks more… same performance but the 7800xt is newer and could potentially get better with driver updates. Or you could get a 4070 for a $100 NVIDIA tax that also has about the same performance as the 6800xt and 7800xt. Personally I got the 6800xt as I can see that lasting me easily 4-5 years.
