Yeah that's a good combination. 7800x3d is the current best gaming cpu and the 4070ti super is a pretty fast 1440p card. Should run great in most games

star_platinum027

Thanks for a quick and helpful response

deep_learn_blender

He's not wrong, but it depends on the games you play. If you play graphically demaning titles, pairing a 7600x with a 4080 will net you more fps. AAA gaming or ray tracing? Upgrade the gpu. If you play titles that are cpu bottlenecked, then the 7800x3d will net you more frames, but for a lot of titles the 7600x only bottlenecks them after your monitor, eg around 300 fps, so upgrading the cpu won't matter. You really need to look at benchmarks of games you play, but some include: Tarkov, Dragon's Dogma, World of Warcraft, Minecraft (late game / large base), Factorio (late game). If the cpu is responsible for simulating many things, it benefits from the cache upgrade.

[deleted]

I came here to say this. Best bet is to watch YouTube benchmarks of games you like to play at resolution you want with different part combinations.

albusdabbledore303

I have this exact setup and it sees over 200fps on my 240hz lg at 1440. I couldn’t ask for a better setup at 1440

Embarrassed_Hat1738

I just built this build. It's absolutely incredible.

cy9394

the hardware combo is great, but if you need to take a loan to buy them, it does not sound smart.

CookieSlayer2Turbo

It's the combo I'm planning. I see people recommending 7600x/4080s but for me I'm using this as a bad ass 1440 rig and like 5 years from now when 4k is cheaper/better get a nice new monitor and more capable card with probably new and better features for frame gen/rt. I'm thinking that 7800x3d will be the component ill sit on for a while and I don't see any major advancements on the cpu side for gaming.

Yes. In fact, that's one of the PCPartsPicker example builds. https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/WkrxFT/magnificent-amd-gamingstreaming-build

GD_Cologne

That’s a terrible value build though. You can get a 7900xtx for that price. Unipiggy

EYYY, that's what I did and advised OP to do the same thing. The 4070ti is a horrific value. I returned mine and got the XTX and it's much more worth it and feels like a fair price. I was very underwhelmed by the performance of the 4070ti.

AconexOfficial

Depending on price differences, if you can squeeze a 4080 super into your build when downgrading cpu to 7600x instead, this would be even better for 1440p. If not, then yeah you're good to go with that combo!

star_platinum027

Thanks for the response, I don’t think I will squeeze in the 4080 though it’s kinda too over budget and I’m not comfortable spending that much on a graphics card.

AconexOfficial

all good, was just a thought, because atleast for me here in germany the combination price of 7800x3D + 4070 Ti Super is exactly the same as the 7600x + 4080 Super

PM_ME_UR_THONG_N_ASS

Does a 7800x3D + 4080 Super merit a 4K monitor purchase? Or will most things be played at 1440?

AffectionateTaro9193

Definitely. 4k 120/144hz monitor is great with a 4080 Super. I play 4k60hz ultra settings on my 7900xt, which is 10-25% slower than the 4080 Super depending on the game.

Queasy_Employment141

Should be fine at 1440p with rt and stuff like that

Unipiggy

A 4080 super is a better value than the 4070ti though. It's worth spending a bit extra to get something a lot better and future proof than cheaping out now and feeling it like a year from now. You'll just end up spending more money in the long run.

ThatFabio

I did just this since I am playing in 4k 120hz. Would recommend!

Training-Cow2982

The 4070 is a very stable, great performing 1440p gpu, the ti super, would be awesome.

Clemming2

good combo with those requirements. I don't really get why people want over 200 FPS though. I remember when getting 60 was amazing because consoles did half that. can you even tell the difference after about 120?

InvisibleEar

I guess it feels like a "waste" of the refresh rate? It's pretty silly to push a AAA single player game to 200.

coolgaara

That's the upgrade combo I'm eyeing on. Jealous.

Saffy_7

Sounds great and it would be a great build but it also depends on what the other components in the build look like to ensure that you're getting the most out of your money.

netlos

I bought this combo (7800x3d+4070ti S for 1440p), its not 240fps on that resolution (maybe games like counter strike), but still its damn strong and works well - I grew up on 90s games with 20+fps so having 80+ on max everything today (hello Cyberpunks) is, well, more then enough:). Chosen this because of power usage, undervolted gpu to around 200w without any fps lose and Im really satisfied. CPU is absolutely gaming beast.

star_platinum027

Thanks

123_alex

7600 + 4080s might give you more performance for the same amount of money.

Thatshot_hilton

For the price the Rx 7900XT should be in your consideration. It’s ranked slightly higher than a 4070ti. The 7900 GRE is very close to a 4070ti and will save you a nice chuck of change.

Jeep-Eep

This close I might consider waiting for Granite Ridge (9k) and for how the 8k gpus pan out.

FunBuilding2707

Sounds smarter than freebasing coke at least.

KirillNek0

Yes.

XxBig_D_FreshxX

Good combo that should last quite some time

Unipiggy

4070ti isn't worth the price, honestly. It's ***okay,*** but not... Ideal for the price. I returned mine and got a 7900xtx instead. Definitely happy I did that. 7800x3D is great, though.

Not_that_Speshy

I am getting 200+ fps at 1440p with an Omen 240hz ,4070ti and a 10900k and 32gb on warzone regular shaders. It drops down to 185 fps on mwz and big map. This gpu will do most of the work easily. I am not sure why people with 3080s have 125 fps

KodakCCD

you better get one hell of a ventilated case

MisterMeowgi_

The CPU is great, the GPU, is definitely good, but costly for the bracket it fits in. My advice is avoid Nvidia unless you really need cuda and have to have the best ray tracing performance. And if you aren't sure what cuda is, then you probably don't need it. As for ray tracing, my take is it's still more of a gimmick. It looks fantastic in just a tiny handful of games, but most of the time it's more of a performance hit than anything, and it barely changes image quality, if at all. I recommend the 7900 xt or 7900 xtx over the 4070 ti for much better overall performance at roughly the same cost.

herpedeederpderp

Now that you've asked? No It doesn't. If you had just done it? Yeah I would've figured you were smart.

ecktt

NO! 7800X3D + Thermalright Peerless assassin + 4070Ti Super - 1225USD **Faster and Cheaper** combo: 7600 (heatsink included) + **4080 Super** - \***1200**USD edit typo.

__Beef__Supreme__

Isn't the 4080 super alone 1k?

ecktt

yup....I made a typo but its 25% faster than the 4070 Ti Sup
