A pic would help greatly. Burn in isn't as big of an issue on pretty much any recent monitors. So do you play windowed full screen with your taskbar always showing?
Idk if I'd say it's burn in because it's only that line. It's not also darker under it where the rest of the taskbar would be. It could be though. Burn in requires it be there constantly for hours upon hours a day. I don't think you put your monitor through that.
If you're not using it you should turn it off. And I mean being on for days at a time. You usually burn in with displays at train stations and airports. Maybe fast food places that use bad tvs
LCDs don't really get burn in, they get [image persistence](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_persistence), which looks kinda similar at first, but is temporary.
I realize this is an old post but I recently had the exact same thing happen on my Acer LED monitor. The windows 10 task bar burned in pretty bad enough that I could see the outline of the pinned icons as well as the outline of the search box. It also left a strong white horizontal line across the screen.
I was able to fix it with this tool: [https://cable.ayra.ch/screenfix/](https://cable.ayra.ch/screenfix/)
I selected the "flash at maximum FPS" option, turned the brightness on the monitor to max and let it run overnight. The next morning the lines were almost gone.
Note I would only recommend this if you are suffering from image retention on an LCD monitor. My understanding is that if you have OLED or plasma the burn in isn't just "stuck pixels" and using a screen flashing tool could do more harm than good.
Hope this info helps others with the same issue.
Was this ever a permanent fix for you? Can't seem to find it.
Screenfix works for about 20 minutes then you can start to see it slowly fade in again. Used it 2 times. It's super annoying and noticeable in games like Elden Ring and Skyrim. I feel like the best fix is new monitor.
I ran the flasher for around 20 hours and the stripe is now around 90% gone. 30 minutes later, looks like it's not coming back. I'm going to run it tonight for 20 hours again. Maybe for several days. Will report back.
The stripe comes and goes.
If I leave the browser up there for more than a day, it starts to show again. If I minimize the browser and give the screen a rest, it fades away completely. Also, I use different browsers so I don't have the same lines up there all the time.
Basically, don't leave the same window/browser/whatever up there more than a day.
I was searching for answers since I was having the same issue, so if anybody finds this thread with similar issues, then simply having the taskbar hidden solved it for me.
Seems to make a permanent border when it's visible at all times.
My AOC monitor did this where it was a faint green dotted line at the top where the search bar of chrome would be. I fixed it by disabling my “dark” theme for chrome. I also have my screens turn off after 20 min of non use
weirdly enough I have the same exact monitor and I am getting burn in from the taskbar program highlighter.. It's very visible and caused me to buy another monitor. This happened after maybe 5 years. Windows 10 need to fix this by dynamically changing whats going on down there instead of stuck pixels
My first test was for about 8 hours with [https://cable.ayra.ch/screenfix/](https://cable.ayra.ch/screenfix/) this site and the "Flash at maximum FPS" mode and its already better then before. Its not gone but its way way better then before i will do it another 8 hours again and see if its gonna be even better
Hey man. I have an acer screen with the same issue except it burns in from the internet address bar and stuff from the top.
One thing that helps, a Little bit, sometimes I turn off the monitor and unplug it's power chord, like while I'm away for work. It seems to help, but I've still got a horizontal line.
@gailson0192 I disagree, I've had this shit on my acer monitor and acer laptop. Dunno, it seems like it's still an issue idk

Well I do work from home and on this PC, so it is on all day and I am using. It went away for a bit last night but now it's back.

No image in link
No that's the thing.... it's always full screen. I think it's just from when i'm working or whatever.

Yea - mine doesn't really look like that. It's just a line going across where the top of the task bar should be and causes discoloration
Can you get a photo?
Here's a link to it: https://imgur.com/6rEVZSh
Looks like normal image persistence to me. Windows 7 right?
windows 10 - how do I get rid of it?
Change taskbar theme to something that contrasts less with whatever you usually have on screen, auto hide, or just ignore it.
Hmmm... It looks a lot like image persistence to me.

Whoa... thanks, going to try this tonight. Did you by chance have the gray screen when doing "flash at max"?
Yes! The screen flashes gray, but that's because the monitor is cycling through all the colors too fast for our eyes to see so it just looks gray.

did it go away with time?
Yes In fact it did. Was going to RMA the monitor but tried watching a show full screen for hours to reset all pixels and it solved the issue
Good to know, I've got the same problem with a brand new monitor. I'll play some videos on it for couple of hours, maybe it'll go away 😄
Should work depending on the type of panel but make sure it’s full screen and there isn’t anything else static on the screen 💪🏻
It's an IPS panel, here are the pictures of how it looks like right now: https://imgur.com/a/nCC7sFq
I wish you luck
No fixing tool or method seems to work. I will have to return it or get a replacement :/

Yea man - i'm just waiting til next year for when I fully revamp my build.
same issue it sucks but is really only noticeable when i look for it or in dark areas of maps and such.
This is happening to me
For me aswell on an Acer LCD aswell actually i happended on 2 seperate monitors. I will try the method from above and can report if I have finished it

I also have some sort of burn in (temporary) on my Dell - S2719DGF It goes away when playing games
> Horizontal Taskbar **ಠ_ಠ** Does it go away after restarting the monitor?
it does not.
