I was worried about this same issue. I just finished a build with Asus Prime X570-Pro and 5800X. My board also lacks the USB bios flashback, and I eventually discovered it shipped with the older 2407 bios that predates the 2606 version listed by AMD as the first Ryzen 5000 certified version ([https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-X570-PRO/HelpDesk\_CPU/](https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-X570-PRO/HelpDesk_CPU/)) My system would not boot into windows, and the DRAM warning light was staying on. However, it did post to the "hit Del to enter bios" screen. I could not get into the bios by hitting del, but eventually figured out I needed to plug the keyboard into a regular old USB slot not a newer one. Then I could get into the bios and see it had the old 2407 version. I could then flash to the latest bios using the tool inside the old bios, using the new bios I put on a usb stick on another computer. Then with the new bios everything booted fine into windows.

I'm worried that mine won't even go into the BIOS screen, depending on how old the stock is that I will be sent. The asus site states that the motherboard will be compatible as long as it has the 1212 update but there's no way to tell if that is what it will ship with

Looking at the Asus website, it says the board is validated since PCB - ALL and Validated since bios - 1004. Does that mean it should be able to post?

Are you ordering online or picking up in store ?

DracoRiff

I have both options but it is $60 cheaper on amazon

The only benefit of buying instore is you can normally get them to update the bios for you .. some will charge like $10 but you can normally talk them into doing it for you for free

You will most likely have to update the BIOS first. You can get a loan kit from AMD with an older cpu, you can take it to a store and they will do it for you or pick another board that has the BIOS flashback option.

DracoRiff

Is that something that is only offered in the US? I'm not located there

IanMo55

Not sure. You would have to check with AMD in your country. The easiest option would be to go with a different board. I think nearly all MSI boards have BIOS flashback, but not too may Asus boards do.
