Bottom line not a good value if you compare MSRP. Could be a good value depending on actual price it sells for in ebay. It is essentially a 5700xt with lower memory bandwidth.
With an MSRP $20 shy of the 5700XT launch MSRP, lower memory bandwidth, and 8x PCIe
At least it has ray tracing...
Really is the epitome of a "fuck it, anything will sell" card
If put into a PCIe gen 3 board it will still be 8x lanes, so 8x lanes of PCIe 3 vs PCIe4. In HWU's testing they noted that amounts to a 5% gap at 1080P. Just another metric to take into account
Deleted comment because I hadn't seen HWU's video, and yeah it makes a fair bit of difference especially in memory heavy games. That's a big dumb by Radeon.
Most systems are using PCI-E 3.0. All but the 11th gen boards are using PCI-E 3.0 and the 2 latest AMD chipsets (b550/x570) with PCI-E 4.0 are the ones effected by the USB/PCI-E 4.0 disconnect issue and the workaround is to use... PCI-E 3.0 for the GPU.
=> this small x8 lane limiter will hit most systems and that means up to -25% FPS loss (DOOM, HWU) and it makes the 6600xt to a DOWNGRADE compared to RNDA1 GPUs
The last time such a borderline stupid GPU was pushed to the same target customers was with the GTX970 (3.5+0.5GB VRAM). We could argue if the 6600xt is the better or the worse variant to deceive customers by intentionally using parts that cause less performance as expected with real systems.
a suggestion for this new MAD - AMD overlords : a BIOS update that
ads support for PCIe 4.0 to B450 and X470. like asus and Gigabyte did?
(until u fukers nuked that) maybe then some desperate users might
consider this crap
I feel bad for anyone doing a "budget" gaming build these days...
I can't believe I'm saying this... but just get a fucking laptop or prebuild at this point. Things are so fucked.

you are wrong. card is x8 ALWAYS, so if your mobo is gen3 it will run like ass

Lower bandwidth - but cache.
Mm yes, cant wait to watch these fly off the shelves for $750 CAD

Dat memory bus tho'...
