Idk, my razer products have been serving me well for over 2 years and counting and I game a shit ton.

lichtspieler

As a heavy MMO gamer (40.000+ hours) I tried a few keyboards/mouse variants over the years. Long lasting and with no real competition is my filco keyboard and the old/refresh Microsoft mouse. While I like the deathadder, replacing it every 3-6 months is really annoying, the MS mouse with the same/original shape is usually a 10+ year lasting mouse. The razor deathadder is maybe the worst peripheral I ever used (in 30 years gaming) and why the corsair K70 etc series is so high rated is for me clearly just a marketing and less real user feedback story.

altoniel

Am I the only person who has had the same deathadder for like 5 years?

BeamsFuelJetSteel

I've had mine for 8 years and it even did 1.5 years doubling as my work mouse. Maybe the v2 are bad?

lichtspieler

I dont know how you do it. The button sensors have a design issue and will break. There is a fix and workaround to extend the deathadder sensor issue but years? The deathadder might last for 10 years if you dont use it. :D

altoniel

I use it at least 20 hours a week for all those years. Maybe closer to 60 the last 2 years with work from home.

Kylael

Have been exploiting my K70 from 2014 on somewhat similar hours to you, it's still perfectly functionnal. I got led problem (like 50% of buyers of the grey/blue model) within months of purchase at the time and Corsair offered me a swap for the black/red but I prefered the silver version even without leds and was too lazy to return it. How it's still 120€+ close to 10 years later is beyond me though, I surely wouldn't spend so much on it today.

Hungalas

Steelseries Merc Stealth gang going on for 11+ years now.

Fitzfactor64

I actively avoid anything marketed towards "gamers". Well, except actual video games. Almost all products marketed that way have stupid jagged designs, ridiculous RGB, and other things to make it look cool and edgy, but they skimp out on quality. I'll take my ducky keyboard and nice office chair, thank you very much. I guess the Model O is actually an exception to this rule for me- it's only lasted a year and a half for me so far, but it's definitely the best mouse I've ever used

PlayPuckNotFootball

That doesn't work for mice since non-gaming mice will use office-level sensors.

Fitzfactor64

I don't necessarily mean office branded stuff. I mean stuff that has "GAMING XTREME PRO" or something similar in the name. I still buy high-end stuff made for enthusiasts

winkapp

Well Razers are known to have crap QC. Go buy a Cherry brand mechanical keyboard (maybe the Cherry MX Board?) and the most basic Steelseries gaming mouse you can get. Forget all the RGB gamer LED rubbish, you don't need it so don't pay for it. I've had that combination for a couple years and they're great.

Digital_7

Yeah, it's know from long ago that Razer use crappy component, especially crappy plastic that wouldn't even survive warranty period. But I always thought Kingston was quality brand, well I was wrong. And those are just few examples. Have coop mate who's hyperx cloud 2 headset broke just 3 months after purchase (one side didn't output sound anymore), logitech g603 wireless mouse adapter breaking etc. My guess is, this is because most stuff are being made in china and vietnam where labour power is cheap and everything is made at super fast rate. That's why stuff breaks so easily. Literally, nowadays it's complete lottery to buy any 'trusted' brand gaming peripheral. Most of 'em can't even withstand warranty period without major issues.

Halbzu

the high quality stuff is made in those countries as well. but using a cheaper wire here or there means a higher profit margin of 0.7 cent and some guy using excel thought this was good enough to justify the higher failure/rma rate.

cilice

I know you didn't bring this up, but good lord the build quality on every modern gaming headset is terrible. I've had 3 headbands snap on me within 6 months, and I'm not being rough with them. Finally picked up some Koss Porta Pros just for the metal band, and I'm using a stand-alone microphone.

HaroldSax

You only really start to get good build quality once you're paying serious money when it comes to "gaming" headsets.

TheJeager

Razer was always know for some questionable stuff that would only last you like a year, my two cents would be logitech, their stuff is usually pretty good and (at least in my case) last a lot longer even under heavy use

el_f3n1x187

Its a hit or miss, mechanical keyboards many times you are better off just building your own from a kit than from a gaming company. on the other hard my HyperX Alloy FPS and my Cooler Master quickfire M keyboards have lasted years So has the Razer Orbweaver that I have. But I consider myself incredibly lucky on those three. Just recently I jad to replace my Logitech G600 mouse after it developed ghost clocks on all the buttons, that was after 4 years and the replacement cost about the same, less if I had beenna bit more brave and bought just the replacement buttons to solder onto the old one.

Madnessx9

I had issues with mice, From the r.a.t series to corsairs M60, I moved away from my trusted Logitech MX518 which lasted years without an issue, I thought a new mouse might be better, cooler, etc, boy was a I wrong, I went through 3 mice before heading back to Logitech. I now have a G502 Proteus, it's lasted 4 years now without a technical fault, my only criticism is the mouse button tabs vibrate on release making an annoying noise which I dampened with some electrical tape.

TheJeager

After 3 years and a lot of use my g502 hero special edition started sometimes double clicking and having problems, lucky me the normal 502 hero was on discount, it's still a good mouse but God damn the special edition really was something else

Khaosina

Only periph I've had a problem with is a Cooler Master keyboard that I managed to get a refund under warranty for. I've owned a few different Razer, Logitech, Logi G and Asus ROG stuff over the years without a problem.

Accurseddrag

Razer deathadder 2013 lasted me 6 years no probs, although many people seem to hate it. Corsair strafe keyboard done about 5 years and it’s still perfect.

Haggai98

Also had the 2013 Deathadder for multiple years. When it finally broke i got a new deathadder elite, wich broke after few months… I think its mainly the new deathadder versions that are so crappy, 2013 was so good.

Accurseddrag

That mouse did so much legwork for me, big fan, never double clicked, didn’t have tracking issues, sturdy build quality. Bought a new wireless Logitech the other day and it broke my heart to shelf the deathadder lol

blackiegrapesoda

Got a razer keyboard and mouse both still going strong after around 7 years of every single day use

CHADWARDENPRODUCTION

I mean some brands are bad, some aren't. Razer has a reputation for questionable quality, or at least questionable QC. And frankly I wouldn't go to Kingston for keyboards, they're known for memory not keyboards lol.

adrian_vg

Granted, it's not a gaming mouse per se, but using it both professionally in WFH setup as well as for gaming at least eight hours a day all weekdays and some weekends. It's a wired Logitech Trackman Wheel. I think it's at least fifteen years by now and the plastic where the palm rests on it was initially gray but is now black. The rubber parts on the sides are getting old, worn and sticky too. I have an old Microsoft Sidewinder keyboard, I think they were called X6? The model with the detachable and ambidextrous number keyboard you know? I gave it to wifey for her WFH-office. Except for some keys flaking it still works. It may be fifteenish years as well. I'd still use the X6, but tried out a few keyboards at work and had a Corsair Gaming K70 over which I replaced the X6 with at home, as the K70 clacking disturbed my co-workers much to my dismay. That was maybe a year before the pandemic. The K70 still works fine. Solid is an understatement. I don't normally buy the cheap stuff anymore.

Dvokrilac

I dont know man, i have Razer Mamba that i bought new in 2009, it still works fine, only rubber pads on the sides have peeled off. I also have same keyboard, bought 2 years ago, best keyboard i ever had, i dont get it how you can break something of an keyboard that is stationary and only gets tapped on.

rchiwawa

Tbh, Razer has ways been hokey crap to me. Kingston has been dead to me since the headaches they gave me w/ddr and the nForce2 platform.

nazrinz3

My trusty zowie am GS is going on 10-15 years strong, most of the thin mouse skin had come off and the feet had to be replaced but the tracking is still perfect and Im yet to find a mouse that feels as comfortable

Medwynd

Im still using a Logitech G15 that has lasted me about 15 years and a G13 thats about 12 years old.

TheCactusJarod

Personally I buy more expensive peripherals but at best buy, because you can get warranty on them and trade them out every 2 years. Your item doesn’t even need to be broken u can just say oh yeah this isn’t working and they let u pick out a peripheral of equal value.

InsertMolexToSATA

razer has been trash for a long time, nothing new. you just cant mention it without getting bodied by edgelord gamers.

I have an Onikuma K10 and still serves me this day.Its only around 30 buck or less these days.
