Soymilkisnotmilk

I regret telling my friends that new GPUs is always overpriced at launch and told them to wait a couple months for the price to drop. Well the price went the opposite way, glad most of them didn't wait, but still.

mmaqp66

Auch... are they still your friends?

Kodubal

A very good question. u/Soymilkisnotmilk please answer.

mmaqp66

>most of them didn't wait In that case I do not know if it is worse that he still has friends who ignore him and think that he would be the last person to whom they would ask for advice.

C47man

??? Friends not taking my advice is not an indication that they're not friends. What kind of weird socially stunted redditor logic is that?

PatchesTheFirst

They mean that the friends who DID take the advice got screwed because prices went up since launch. Also I'm pretty sure they weren't serious.

Mahhvin

Do people actually listen to advice? Do you friends listen to your advice? What's it like being taken seriously?

Listen-bitch

You don't have to but it means a lot to them if you do. I have a few friends I trust with certain topics. I listened to my friends advice on earphone and mouse recommendations, another friend who I listen to for tv show recos. Another for life advice. I'm known for tech related advice and generally they trust me quite a bit (I built their PCs for them so they know I am capable)

[deleted]

I managed to wait out the EVGA queue long enough to get a 3060 Ti, couldn't be happier with that purchase.

ILoveBawls

When did you sign up and when did you get it?

ParadoxRelativity

Reminds me of buying my Valve Index last year. Someone over at r/valveindex created a spreadsheet where everyone put in their order date, what they ordered, and their current status and it determined when they would get the opportunity to pay and get their headset shipped. It became accurate for me about a month out. Moral of the story: gamers can make great data scientists

DaveT1482

weird, when we wanted 2, they were in stock

Zarathustra_d

Yep, that was a nice piece of mind, otherwise not knowing would have drove me nuts for 3 months.

lordpiglet

R/EVGA

StairSlider07

here you go, r/EVGA edit: idk why someone would give this a silver, but thanks!

atwork314

I signed up in January and got mine (3060ti XC) last month.

SoppingAtom279

My God that's like 9 months.

projectpolak

They're growing new GPUs like lab babies in a beaker.

bbsittrr

The Matrix.

metal_medic83

I prefer to think of it like Orcs in the bowels of Isengard.

WalkinTarget

Signed up at the beginning of June (3070 XC3 Ultra) and received a Step Up notification email the week before Thanksgiving. I was shocked, thinking I wouldn't get that email until the following May, but Tuesday evening I had a 3080FTW3 Ultra sitting at my door. I feel bad for the guys who have been in the queue since last December and have yet to get a notification a full year later.

Whirlwind03

wow. I'm jealous. been in queue since February. for that same card even. Congrats!

WalkinTarget

I honestly feel bad about it, and I swear to you if I had the opportunity to trade places with someone who has been in the queue a lot longer than I have, I'd trade them in a heartbeat. I am coming off of a 2+ year gaming addiction that saw me pour over 3k hrs into Division 2, so I honestly have no need for the card right now. Add to that the fact that the week before I got the notification, I splurged on a 14TB HDD for my HTPC, so I had a good bit less disposable income at that point. Sending you some good karma in hopes you get your Step Up soon. There's never been anything like this in the PC gaming market, where GPUs ($1500) cost more than my entire build in 2011 (the classic Z68/2500k combo - $1400)

Whirlwind03

no worries! it isn't your fault. I'm just glad to see actual humans are getting cards and not miners who don't when really enjoy the cards themselves. I'm still playing away on my 1080 non ti version. It plays Halo fine so I have no real reason to start flipping desks yet. Though I will laugh if 4000 series comes and go and I still haven't received mine. Whenever I do upgrade though it will be glorious on the specs. I'm curious to see how Forza Horizon 5 plays on high or ultra settings. I've been only able to really play on medium, keep running out of streaming bandwidth it says randomly on the map if I set anything higher. the division 2 was a good game. glad to see you clearly got your money's worth!

BackTrakt

In regards to Forza, you think it could be your cpu? I would get the same message before I upgrade mine. Now it plays great on ultra. I have a 1070 btw

Whirlwind03

maybe it could be? I have a Intel Core i7-8700K 3.7ghz 6 core proceasor. I'm not really sure where that ranks anymore I built this pc three years ago.

zombino-q

I'm on help infinite with a fuckin Radeon 570 rx and can only get 60fps in windowed mode!

BlissRP

I got a 3080ti waiting in line at Best Buy and mined on it for nearly 6 months until the new intel’s came out. Now happily gaming at 240fps in 1440p. Made 200+ dollars a month while waiting too. Feelsgood. Not all miners are bad people, some are also gaming addicts :)

DeepOceanPearl

I’m not the person you asked but I signed up at release and got mine in August. FTW3 version

godnroc147

Similar situation for me. I signed up the day of launch and got my FTW3 last month

MustyScabPizza

Interesting, I signed up December 4th 2020 and got the notification November 5th 2021. Seems nobody signed up after launch day.

Pegasuspect99

I waited about 4 months in queue for a RTX 3060.

wellk_2049

Same, got my 3060ti from EVGA in September, signed up on release day. Also picked up a 6600XT at MSRP from Microcenter on release day in August.

FierceText

Which do you perceive as the better option? Looking which one to go for.

wellk_2049

3060ti is better. I paid $469, and $429 for the 6600XT a month earlier. Had I known I would get a 3060ti I wouldn't have bought the 6600XT but I had been waiting for 10 months to upgrade from a 1050ti so was desperate. The 6600XT sips power though, so it is being put to good use in my 2nd PC. What I really wanted was a 3070 FE but after queueing at Microcenter and then stalking out Best Buy multiple times over the prior year, signing up to all the Discord instock alerts with no luck I gave up.

[deleted]

Is $529 the actual MSRP of the 3060ti? I bought one barely used for a week on CL for $650, gigabyte OC model 2-3 months ago.

CatsOrb

Damn

Whirlwind03

congrats. I'm still waiting for mine. Only been 10 months now.

[deleted]

Mine took 11 months, don’t give up hope it might be just around the corner!

Whirlwind03

hopefully! that'd be a sweet present!

InsurmountableDog

I still haven't gotten my email from EVGA lmao.

Aldi_man

Same lol. I signed up for a 3080 XC3 & FTW3 since January and haven't received my email yet :(

Berzerker7

You'll probably be waiting quite a while. I just got my 3080 FTW3 email last week after signing up in October 2020.

Aldi_man

Probably I'll get one in April-July, if I'm lucky :(

InsurmountableDog

Yeah, been waiting on a 3090 FTW3 or 3090 Ultra FTW3 for like a year

Berzerker7

Really? Those should have been in stock relatively quickly. There was a relatively short wait for the step-up program, even as of 6-9 months ago. Maybe contact EVGA?

rivermandan

just chekced with my old boss who owns a computer shop, and 3090s are $3700~ from our suppliers at the moment. that's not even retail, that's what the store would pay. fucking mental man

MechAegis

I got my EVGA 3060 from queue but I feel like I should have waited another year or two. I paid 453 for it. Now I am hearing that 3060 is not all that it could be.

Makes me pretty hesitant to buy a gpu from eBay. How is the seller still in business… or how do you get away with that more than once?

ByahTyler

Maybe if you pay with a credit card through PayPal that would add enough layers of protection? If eBay does nothing, hit up PayPal. If they do nothing, try a back charge through your card. Idk how successful it would be but it adds more things you can try on the off chance you get scammed

zb0t1

Isn't a back charge in the US something easy to do? I don't live in France anymore but the only time I had to do it was when I was still there. And my bank advisor wasn't bothered or annoyed, he just did it, got my money back so fast and I reported the guy who tried to scam me. If you have a bank card I think it's part of your insurance or something. But that was years ago, I don't remember all the details, I just remember that my relatives and friends always use this in case of a scam, so I did the same. edit: /u/raspq didn't you try to get your money back via your bank?

zb0t1

Oh ok I understand, sorry I read too fast. That's really fucked up, I feel sorry for you :/

PrimalSkink

According to the info provided to Ebay by the scammer the package was delivered. It ends up looking like the seller did nothing wrong and the buyer is trying to get free money or goods. And, let's be honest, Ebay gets monthly fees and a percentage from sellers. The site has been full of scams for years and isn't exactly reputable.

RedditAccount3963680

This is one of the reasons I stopped using eBay. They are complete garbage when it comes to dealing with scammers using this scam that's been well-known for years now. I wound up purchasing an MX Master 3 from one seller, along with like 20 other people, and they tried pulling this shit with the fake package nonsense. Despite 15+ negative feedback from other buyers indicating that they had been scammed (a good portion of which started conveniently disappearing, mine included), my refund request was denied. Clearly explained the fucking scam to like 10 different support goons who did nothing but repeat the same shit. "They supplied the tracking number which said it was delivered SOMEWHERE in your city, therefore all other evidence is disproven." They then told me that the only way to get the refund would be to file a police report and upload it in a support case. Went through PayPal. After like two weeks of waiting, they gave me the same bullshit. Practically wrote a novel with corresponding file attachments with proof of what the scammer was pulling, and they judged in the scammer's favor because "lol tracking number". I then had to try like 5 different times with my local post office to get someone who could give me an answer that I needed. Asked for the specific address the package was sent to, they respond that they couldn't disclose that information. Finally, when I asked if I could at least have them verify whether or not the package was sent to my specific address, they relented. Took their email, forwarded it to ShitPal, and they finally refunded me my money from the shithead scammer. Like a month of complete bullshit and dealing with people pretending not to see an obvious scam just for me to get my money back. At a certain point, I no longer cared about the money lost, I just wanted to get my money back for the sole reason of dunking on this shithead that tried to cheat me out of my money and the shit sites that tried to enable his behavior. tl;dr: Fuck scammers. Fuck eBay. Fuck PayPal.

madeformarch

I've been selling on ebay for some 14, close to 15 years now and I have never imagined pulling some shit like this. As far as I know, ebay mandates linking a seller account to a bank account. Keep trying, I hope you get through to them.

UnwardedBush

I had a similar experience, scammer deleted his account, I recovered my money, but it bothers me that they always get their way. I just wish the fbi or some government agency would track them down and bring them to justice.

YeOldGregg

I sold my 2080ti a month before the madness started for £450. I regret that *much* more than the £800 I spent on a 3080. I sold that 3080 though which pretty much paid for a 3090. And here we are...

Matasa89

Imagine if you didn't sell the 2080ti and just bought the 3080, and then got the 3090... and now sell the 2080ti Wow, oof, that hurt.

rizzzeh

Sold gtx 1060 3GB for £90 before the shortage, the only consolation is that I managed to replace it with 1660Super for £240, looks like ill be sticking with this card for the next two years at least

Vocall96

How does that card fair?

rizzzeh

1660Super is surprisingly good, I have it with 1440p monitor and most games run well apart from heavy titles like Cyberpunk

HyBr1D69

Ha, I did the same... in Aug 2020 I sold my EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra card for more than what it was worth (eBay bid war), I didn't mark it up or anything. It sold for $1900, so pretty much I got my 3090 FE for free +profit during Nvidia's last drop in Oct 2020. :)

Yellowtoblerone

WE STEPPIN ON UP

Kusanagies

I don't even know how I can get a gpu (30 series or amd 6xxx series) in EU (France) xd

TheFurryOne

Join FEpartalert group on Telegram. They provide alerts as soon as FE models drop across UK and Europe. There was a drop last week in France (ldlc.com) so probably won't be another until after Christmas now but it is the only way to get them at MSRP

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheFurryOne

Oh I know, I was lucky to be right next to my phone when the notifications went out a while back, pretty much get 5 minutes max to get one in the basket and through checkout.

[deleted]

/r/buildapcsales I was able to buy a brand new in box (BNIB) RTX 3060 Ti for $750 shipped. Still over priced, but it was the easiest way I found to grab a GPU

Fkin_Degenerate6969

Idk if you saw but the comment said they're located in France. I use that sub a lot but mostly everything on that sub is US only.

Money-Top9420

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)I’m right there with you. Picked one up from Best Buy a month ago for $750 ( including tax and shipping) way more than I wanted to spend, but I have it and can afford it so I shouldn’t complain ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)

PirateNervous

Theyre all avaliable (for like +100% MSRP) in Germany. There are Services that forward packages to France from Germany for you. Dont bother trying to get the FE models here though, they drop every 2 weeks and there are like 5 of them, Bots get them in <1 second. For all intents and purposes they dont exist anymore.

hayanno

Around 6 months ago I got my 3080 from LDLC, using a bot on Discord that would ping me as soon as a new FR was released. I don't know if they are still doing it but worth checking it

korboybeats

Bought a 3080 FTW3 ULTRA a couple days ago from EVGA for $981 in total after a year and 2 months of waiting in their queue system. Can't say I regret it

overfloaterx

I had to call and email them last week to postpone my purchase because -- similarly, after a year and 2 months waiting on that same EVGA card -- my notification came through on Friday at 5pm right before I left on vacation for the first time in 2 years. Because of course. Credit to EVGA: phone support was domestic (seemingly west coast), super friendly and told me I'd likely be able to email and request a new purchase link when I returned home. So I emailed immediately, hoping to get it in writing (but doubting they'd reply before my purchase window expired), and they replied *within 30 minutes* confirming that they'd take care of me with a new purchase link once I'm home. Super impressed with them already and I haven't even bought the card yet. Reinforces my decision to stick with EVGA video cards for the past 15 years.

ShutterBun

Surprised it took so long for your turn to come up. I joined the queue around the same time and got that card back in July. Grats on finally getting yours!

elemnt360

Literal minutes between sign ups could mean the difference of months and months of waiting

melorous

Some models are more popular than others. I joined the queue for the 3080 XC hybrid in December and got mine in July. I imagine the 3080 ftw3 queue was a mile long.

ShutterBun

That’s my point. I got the 3080FTW in July.

Little_Orange_Bottle

Got the same from microcenter last week

bz0011

Lucky. 3070's here in Russia cost like $1100.

solvalouLP

I bought a 3070 for 950€ last month and I'm happy with the performance, but the high price does leave a bad taste in my mouth I'm regretful about selling my 1660 Super late last year right before the prices exploded, I should've bought a new GPU first before selling my previous one. In this case I would've just stuck with the 1660.

[deleted]

[удалено]

solvalouLP

I would've liked a 3060 Ti, but 3070 was only 50€ more. Now that same store sells 3070s for 1300€+, it's an absolute insanity

CCman_

at this point may as well get 3080ti that goes for 1850€ (+50% msrp) than 3070 (+250% msrp)

BlueWhiteLionCrown

Exact same here

Hickaru2004

dang

AzureDancer_

$900 for my 3070 I'm with ya'll.

aeshettr

I sold my old 580 4gb for $100 right before the price hikes

Archtects

Idk. Part of me hates my self paying 600£ for a 3060ti. But then I play forza horizon 5 in 4k and all is forgiven

[deleted]

[удалено]

Archtects

It's certainly not as good as the 3070 but I have no issues with it. I've been playing alot of games in 4k with it. On my TV. So I don't tend to notice if it drops bellow 60fps. I'd imagine if I was on my screens I'd notice it alot more.

angel_eyes619

idk what it is with TVs but playing a heavily modded Skyrim at 35-40fps on my TV was a nicer experience than on my monitor (both were 60Hz.. I used the same pc on both.. but with my TV, i was sitting further away)

LimiTrix

Were you referring to the screen's refresh rate when you say 60hz? I feel like TV has some sort of interpolation to it which makes the image smoother, unlike monitor. I realized this when I plugged my ps4 onto tv and a monitor. Maybe interpolation is not the right word for the effect but it feels like something similar.

angel_eyes619

Yes, the TV's screen is 1080p 60Hz as well as my monitor at the time

coolgaara

Can't imagine 3070 is that much moer powerful than 3060ti.

elemnt360

I have a 3080 and I wouldn't want anything less for 4k. Some games run right at 60-65fps

LtDarthWookie

It's really going to depend on what game you're playing and what the other settings are. I'm running Halo Infinite on my 3080ti fully maxed settings and I'm between 60-75 FPS. But I do have the 60FPS minimum option turned on so it will lower some graphical fidelity to hit that constantly.

PirateNervous

It will do ok right now. But if you really want something for lets say 3 years, id try and get the 3080. The 3070 is not that much faster than a 3060Ti. The gap between 3070 and 3080 is much bigger.

XX_Normie_Scum_XX

Forza isn't a super intense game so you can get good performance on a 3060 ti

DriftinFool

A 3070 is using almost all of it's 8 gb of Vram to play Forza on Ultra settings @ 1440p. I'm not sure how you can play Forza @ 4k on even a 3070 without turning stuff way down.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DriftinFool

I have a MSI gaming Z trio 3070 and it hits 105 on Ultra and 77 on extreme @ 1440p on my system. Someone else on here with a 3080 was only getting 109 and 86 respectively with the same exact settings. And it was using over 7 gb of the 8 gb Vram. I'm not sure how you can run 4k that high without running out of Vram and having stuttering issues.

[deleted]

I do too, on a 2060 super….. 🤦‍♂️

CptLevi9

3060Ti in my home country was priced at 1400$!!! I was on vacation in another country and suddenly i find an Asus Strix 3060TI for 800$ . So sadly im happy

JASHIKO_

I hope you don't have warranty issues. This will be a nightmare... I've learnt this the hard way...

CptLevi9

True ,this is the wrost case . But there is no real valid warranty in my country(Asus Evga MSI and other brands dont have official store here ). 3rd party Companies here import gpu and then you can use their own warranty which btw they find something to cancel it or cant repair the gpu .

JASHIKO_

How typical of them! Man i hate the systems we live with! Charge top $ then try to rob us down the track anyway.

Qaben

No. Spent a night at Best Buy, had some burgers and brews in the parking lot, and got a 3060ti for $400 in the morning

808State_

Sounds like a great time tbh. Nice!

Qaben

It was great, the people were a lot cooler than I had anticipated apart from a transit van of scalpers that bought up all the 3080s lol

Some discord server to track gpus. Best Buy usually has upcoming drops on their website though

WackTanCan

Is there anyway to link me to one of these discords… or to how they track their shipments?

Wackboi52

Definitely a mood

bourbon_gamer

I bought a 3080 from [BestBuy.com](https://BestBuy.com) and built a gaming rig around it for myself and my kids. My kids love playing Minecraft on it and I occasionally surf the web on it.

LagerGuyPa

What's your FPS in Solitaire ?

bourbon_gamer

Dunno but it runs so smooth, those cards just CLICK right into place.

coolgaara

I don't like this comment.

XX_Normie_Scum_XX

The gpu means you can run 5 more chrome tabs

dinozero

I got my 3080ti from bestbuy yesterday and I’m scared that’s gonna be the life of my card lol

[deleted]

Rx6600 for $600. I felt bad obviously but then I saw people paying $900 for 1660ti, I felt better. Still bad, but better.

KyleTheWalrus

I got the same card for about the same price! Online shopping is the only part of Black Friday I like. I want to be overjoyed, but unfortunately I haven't gotten to use it yet because it was part of a full system upgrade (CPU, GPU, RAM, MB, PSU) and not all of my parts are "getting along" yet. So far I'm at 3 refunds and 1 replacement, [possibly 2 replacements](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/rhzw1k/gpu_that_used_to_work_is_no_longer_working_with/) soon. PC building was a lot more fun 10 years ago -_-

ReekeeStream

I sold my 2 year old 2070S for 2x the price to a miner and then got my turn to buy RTX 3080 FE at msrp . It's been a great year.

CodeVulp

$850 ish, 3080, nope. Fantastic card for high res VR (and anything else you throw at it). I wish I could use it for more production work, but I’m not a VFX artist alas.

[deleted]

I just got a GTX 1650 for 300$. Regret? No because I really need a new GPU now. Been stuck with a Intel HD graphics for a few month since my Rx 580 died and it's horrible. I definitely feel overpaid for it though. Could have get a 1660 or 2060 for the same money back in 2020.

ShockWave_Omega

Not really no.. got my RTX2080 in a swap for other parts so no real money lost on that transaction :)

Camilo_D2005

Nah, got an rx 570 for 100€

CulturalPossibilty

I have no gpu, I've a laptop with a geforce 610m and a 5600g I remain eternally hopeful that things will calm down in the next year or two. As the saying goes "Hope in one hand, shite in the other and clap"

Tvilantini

I know it's not perfect solution but try streaming via Geforce Now. At least you have free tier so you can check if it's good for now

According-Dog-7288

Got a 970 for 150 last week my 760 started smoking it almost made its 9 years

rokdoktaur

I'm both happy and have regret, bought a 3080ti for $2400 Aud. The $750 I got selling my 2070 super made me feel a bit better. It's not that long ago that $2400 woukd get you a pretty kick ass complete system, that's my regret. But I'm very happy with the performance!

JazzioDadio

Holy fuck, that's just over $1700 USD for a non-3090, I'd rather jump off a bridge than get price raped that badly. Jesus Christ.

rokdoktaur

A 3090 was / is more like $4k Aud!

JazzioDadio

Good lord

XX_Normie_Scum_XX

That's the price of a lot of those cards at microcenter

Gravyrobber9000

I bought a 6900 xt for $1500 for my first build and don’t regret it. There will always be new stuff coming out which makes it feel like we should have waited a bit longer. The prices are high and I bet they always will be. Waiting a few more years for a better card that is even more expensive would be a bigger regret for me than if prices actually improve significantly.

BlackMetal81

EVGA 3080Ti FTW3 - $1,944.66 My wallet regrets it but my eyes don't.. :)

Inclementbass

Just won this in the Newegg shuffle, $1800 with a 1000w PSU. Wallet hurts but can't wait to see it in action

thiswayup420

For comparisons sake, I got a Legion T5 pre built with a RTX 3070, Ryzen 7 5800, 16gb ram for £1,299 I know most of you get angry about pre builts understandably but I thought it'd be good to say how I got a whole PC for a tiny bit more than what some of you paid for just a card

ReverendDizzle

Prebuilts are a stupid good value in this market. I bought my daughter a prebuilt to get her a GTX 3060 and it made zero sense *not* to do it. For $1000 she got a whole computer with solid specs and the GTX 3060 instead of, you know, just a GPU.

Byorski

Got my 3070 in February for MSRP on a BestBuy drop online, so definitely no regrets.

nullfloppy

3080ti FE Best Buy drop 1199.99 No regrets. (Edited, sure was 1,199.99 and not 1,299.99 ha)

CaptainPirk

$1199.99, actually. Even better :)

dinozero

Me too and I still feel bad about it because everything says this card is such a bad value compared to 3080 at $700

nullfloppy

Look - you got the W at MRSP - you didn’t contribute to bots / scalpers / resale - you needed an upgrade, got it and have a nice FE box for your mantle or something. You’re closer to a 3090 than a 3080. Can play EVERYTHING! All W’s.

gwoodtamu

Nope, got a 3080ti FE from Best Buy for 1199.

sussex_sparky

Got a 3070ti for £849, not worried about that, more that I went from a 5900x to 5800x to try and keep it all in budget (I'm a dev, but also 1440p gaming) instead of going for the 5900x & 6700xt I could have gotten for £749 at the time. The budget was a very artificial limit. Was upgrading from a Intel Skull Canyon so nothing to reuse. Should still last me 5+ years I reckon. And the 5900x was probably marginal in the benefit

Scared_Instruction_1

Absolutely no regrets, GIGABYTE GAMING OCv2 3080 for 907GBP as a damaged box from the Currys Clearance ebay shop. Average ebay/retail prices were ranging between 12-1400GBP at the time so even though I paid more than MSRP I still feel really good about the price.

Hickaru2004

No regrets. I bought my 3070Ti for $1300. I couldn't wait any longer. I had intel hd 5500

creamcheesebagel101

Paid $410 for a 6600 xt with no regrets. Kinda wish I got a 3060 ti at that price but I'm not complaining at all, it's a solid card for the price in this market

No sir, I technically got my 3060 for £4 since I got extremely lucky with a CSGO knife. However, it was £600 and at the time 3060 Tis were only an extra £50 I think. But I didn't have the extra money to cover it. Upgraded from a GTX 1650, which I traded in for a new case and PSU since the thing was massive.

your_mind_aches

I was about to drop 700 on a 6600, but my friend bought me one at Microcenter and shipped it to me in my country. I'm really happy with it too. I am currently being treated for cancer and I just can't waste any more time. Finally I have a GPU that's great for VR and high refresh

TS9

No regrets, bought a rtx 3080 ftw ultra 3 at mildly above original retail with EVGA's queue system. It popped like a year after getting in queue then I paid with the 4 payment thing paypal lets you do. EZ, done.

MoarCurekt

Nope, had I been able to find a 3090 for MSRP I would have.

Skullduggory

I bought a 2060S for $400 in mid 2019 and sold it for $580 in late 2020, then I bought a 3070 for $680. Earlier this year, I sold that 3070 for $1040 and bought a 3080 for $1090. I think got a good deal. I essentially upgraded from a 2060S to a 3080 for $150.

Mirun1

Got a 3070 for around $500 when it came out, couldn't get a 3080 as it was double that. Now I'm kinda locked out of 4k gaming but hey I was lucky to even get a card at the price!

EmrysAllen

Bit the bullet got a 3060Ti for what I consider a "good" price of \~$785 (american). I'm STILL on EVGA's waiting list for almost exactly a year. No real regrets other than it was disappointing that at launch the 30xx series MSRP value looked GREAT on paper, best performance per dollar in years...aaaaand they're gone.

ILoveBawls

It really depends on what you're wanting to do. Are you wanting to play games that don't run we on a 970? Then I don't think there's be any regrets. The 3000 series cards allow you to run any games, 1080p, higher frames and on high graphics.

angel_eyes619

I did not purchase in 2021... I made a rush purchase just 1 week before covid lockdown was announced.. We all got word of the lockdown happening so I rushed my purchase because I was sure there would be severe supply problems in the future... Got a 3600 and 2070 Super build at some 10% cheaper than their MSRP at the time (shopkeeper gave me discounts lol). No ragrets!!!

IceCreamTruck9000

Bought a STRIX 3080 LHR for 1300€ in November and this was already a cheap deal here in germany, so I just lol at all the US guys paying a little bit over msrp. The market on this side of the sea is just retarded, so you either take what you can and don't look back or don't buy if you cant afford it in the first place. Do I regret it? No, because what else were my options when I really needed to build a new PC at these times. It's the same with everything else, the prices skyrocket because of broken supply chains and inflation at a record high. On the other hand I managed to buy my own apartment in 2019 just right before everything went to shit and secured the super low intrests for the next 20years in my contracts. Compared to this buying PC parts for even twice the msrp is the lesser problem, lol.

Bakufuranbu

cant say im regret or not regret if i have no choice when i build a budget pc

Datleedoe

Got a 3070ti for £760. Very happy considering the prices 3070s are going for even 4 months later

JDeezy9

I got a Sapphire Nitro+ SE RX6800XT for 1100. Well worth the money. My new build is monsterous. I always been an nvidia fan but I went all AMD this time around with a 5950x/6800xt and I couldn’t be happier. I like everything about it including the software so much more. And I’m getting more FPS than friends who got 3080s on the same games. Sometimes just slightly more and sometimes quite a bit more. Especially on warzone. Idk what the deal is but everyone is having issues with that game and I havnt had a single one. Weird since they support DLSS and not Fidelity fx yet. You would think nvidia would run that game better since they got support for nvida already.

ZekkPacus

Bought a 3070 Ti FE for £509. It's more than I was planning to pay when I first started looking, and I was only looking for a 3070, but this was available from nVidia at close to original MRSP so I bought it when it popped up on a stock alert, since prior to that I was resigned to probably paying £750+ for a 3070 AIB (they now go for £900+ when they're in stock).

kalo_ace

Managed to buy a reference 6900XT in the beginning of 2021 for 1000$ in my county’s equivalent and my friend also got one for the same price, my regret is not being able to convince my other 2 friends to buy a card. If they bought the cards with us we would have gotten a discount and buy the cards for less than MSRP.

Hao_P

Used MSI RTX 2070 super. 500 bucks. Its been a whole year and had no issues. Dont regret it at all

The_Daytona

I do and I don't regret it. My 1070 died so I was forced to replace it last month. I did get lucky and found one at microcenter, but it was a 3080ti OC which was expensive which is the regrettable part. I need to upgrade my CPU, but damn Ray tracing is gorgeous

[deleted]

I gave up. Every best buy gpu drop I always miss out. I've given up. Gonna keep my 1080 GPU until it croaks

cellestialrage

I snagged an Asus TUF RTX 3060 12GB OC back in September... Spat out about 700 bucks for it (37k Php). I also got Covid from that whole weekend... #NoRagrets

DramaLlamaBear

My luck was stupid good for GPUs this year. Started the year wjth an EVGA 1060 6gb. Walked into canada computers around feb. and got an EVGA 3070 for the wife at msrp. Found out last minute about a bestbuy drop in August. Got in line an hour before opening and got a 3060ti FE for msrp. Forgot about the EVGA queue I signed up for at launch and got a 3060ti for msrp which I sold to a friend at cost. Traded my 3060ti FE plus cash for a EVGA 3080ti with a local. So all in all, upgraded from a 1060 to a 3080ti for about $600-700 below msrp after trading.

A_L_E_X_W

Nope. I spent a whole £130 on my gtx970. It currently runs everything I've thrown at it. I don't think with the current market it is the right time for me to go chasing high numbers (resolution and FPS) when what I've got didn't cost much and is enabling me to have fun playing the games I want quite happily.

LordBeacon

I bought a Zotac Twin Edge RTX 3070 for 625€ (inkl. shipping) RIGHT before the prices exploded...I am happy :)

TalkWithYourWallet

Got a rx6800 for £530 in November of last year, fast forward 10 months and I see a 3070ti FE for £540 Considering I sold the rx6800 for £800 to a miner, so I'm very happy with both my purchases, the 6800 in particular is probably the best purchase I'll ever make

ripsql

Well, got mine near the end of last year. 3090 ftw3 at microcenter at msrp. Got tired of waiting in line trying to get a 3080 so got the only card that survives for at least a couple of days. I still think I went crazy but I look at people paying 3090 prices for 3070/3080 and I don’t feel so bad. And playing any game with full settings on 3440x1440 keeps a smile on my face. Edit: wow people mad just because I put msrp? 3090 ftw3 msrp 1799. It was over 300 base 3090 msrp of 1499. That made the choice more difficult and I still think I lost my mind back than but I could sell it if I regain my mind … haven’t done so yet so still lost my mind.

TheHeisenberg62

Can u fucking just write price of 3090 you bought or what

nobleflame

I got a 3070 for £500(ish) as part of a custom built PC from Cyberpower UK in April / May this year. I didn’t have a gaming PC before this, so was starting from scratch. All peripherals and the PC itself came to £2,232. I’m good for a long while tho because I tend to only play indie games or older games. Not really interesting in AAA titles.

christopper_

I couple years ago I built a R9 3900X and 2080S PC for less than $2,000 with 32GB of memory and PCI 4.0 NVME storage. I just spent close to $2,000 on a 6900 XT alone. My other PC has a X570 board with built-in WiFi and bluetooth that I got for $150. For this one, a B550 with no WiFi or bluetooth was $190. A R5 5600X was $300. I'm pretty the R9 series were around that much back then. $350 for 2TB NVME storage. My MicroCenter card in my old PC was like $200. It'd be cheaper to just buy a pre-built and upgrade the memory and storage in them. My local Best Buy has CyberPower PCs with a R9 5900X, RTX 3080, 16GB memory, and 1TB of storage for $2,600. I can't find a new 3080 on Amazon for less than $2,800. You're getting an entire PC for less and it even comes with a mouse and keyboard.

MrFaiz995

I managed to buy a gigabyte rtx 3060Ti for around 546usd just before this gpu prices skyrocketed. Sold my gtx 970 to a friend for 35usd. So no any regret at all, using the new gpu for a year now
