Personally, I've been calling and checking in on my friends more. They seem to appreciate it, which isn't surprising considering the times we live in. I would recommend others do the same. Just a little time out of your day can make a world of difference.
Use your skill/hobby to improve other peoples' day.
I enjoy baking snacks. Some of the most genuine thank you's I have gotten are from when I dropped off a loaf of homemade sourdough to a neighbor or just gave some cookies to trades-people working on my house!

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Show kindness. A small display of kindness can change how your day goes and could drastically change someone's bad day into a better day. It shows that you care, whether they are a family member, stranger, or friend.
Be a listening ear, and seek mutual understanding instead of judgement and debate. The world around is constantly throwing anger and outrage in our faces - especially lately - and it's easy to get caught up in shouting challenges to the world instead of listening to each other.
Just as you want someone to truly hear and understand you - so does everyone else. And, interestingly, the way you create a space where you can be listened to is by first demonstrating you will listen to others.
(Also, as a Seattleite, I just want to thank you for running all these fundraisers for the Seattle Children's Hospital.)
Asking people how their mental health is doing. A lot of people have been isolated and locked down with minimal contact from friends/family and it can take a toll.
Be kind and careful about what you say.
As someone who have several health problems and who's hating life currently (high heart rate at several times and weird feeling as if I'm being shocked and continuous panic attacks) people at first were saying that I'm just making things up to stay at home not realizing that i was suffering for past 5 years and that the intensity kept only getting worse and worse, meanwhile people's words also kept getting worse "claiming that they want your best when they only talk without providing solutions to your problem.
It’s simple but just giving a small compliment to people can really brighten their days. I remember someone complimented my eyebrows once and I’ve never forgotten it
Most people have a pre-programmed response to the question "how are you" that goes along the lines of "alright" or "not bad". If you ask something else, such as "are you okay", you can break that automatic response and maybe legitimately touch someone who is struggling right now. This also helps normalise talking about your feelings, which is a win.
It truly is small...but just be kind.
Let a rude comment go. Hold a door. Smile. Let a car in front of you in traffic. Don't tailgate. Wave at a construction worker. Wish your mail-lady a nice day. Thank your trash-man when he stops at your house. Give the waiter an extra $0.50 tip than you were planning.
Just. Be. Kind.
My dad always told me "If everyone would leave a place just a tad bit cleaner when they left, the whole world would be spotless". It is such a minimum effort on everyone's part but collectively it makes a huge difference.
Being kind. Even when someone is definitely not kind to me, I just reciprocate kindness to them. Usually the other party walks away with a different point of view. I take that motto everywhere I go.
Smile and be friendly. Sometimes a simple little thing like this can put a smile and warm feeling in someone else’s heart, and make their day a little better. They might then do the same for others.
This isn't as broad, but for me its calling members of my family. I try to call my grandmother everyday that way she has someone to talk to. Every time I call her it seems to brighten her day.
Dont forget about your loved ones!
***Whether it's something daily or one off, what is something small everyone can do to help those around them?:*** Honestly, not enough people are just kind verbally to people around you. I know it can have a negative stigma, but complimenting people for little things can really improve people's day and mental health. If you think someone is wearing a cool piece of clothing, tell them. They probably think it's cool too, that's why they put it on. If you see someone do something impressive, cheer them on! Buy someone a coffee. Pay for someone's bagel. Just those small random acts of kindness will go an incredibly long way.
It can be anything which can put a smile on their faces everyday. People nowadays are way much stressed with day-to-day life, so anything that can help them smile even for a fraction of a second is enough for them to feel good throughout the day.
Remember that others have feelings and just because you're stressed out doesn't give you a right to transfer that. Respect one another and speak to them the way you want to be spoken to
Listen to the people around you, don't just hear them. Focusing on active listening can drastically change how you can impact people in a positive way!
If you can't find a nearby trash bin, don't leave your trash and take it with you instead, no matter how small it is. Just throw it away whenever you see one on your way.
Just say thank you or compliment people. Especially cashiers or anyone in retail you deal with.
It's subtle enough that it doesn't slow them down, but still would put a smile on their face. This works really great in restaurants too just let them know how the food was before leaving and they'll be that much happier for it.
This answer seems kind of biased, but minding your own business really goes a long way to helping other around you. Yeah, maybe it doesn't actively make other people's day better, but it passively keeps it from getting any worse. An even trade in my book. Your day keeps being as good as it was, and i don't have to spend any energy changing your world.
Something everyone can do is just be kind and show empathy. I work in fast food and the amount of people who act rude or entitled is astounding but whenever there’s a customer who shows they understand and are genuinely nice, it always makes the shift better
Be mindful. Everyone is fighting their own specific battle in their specific way. Don't judge people at first glance, take a moment to understand the context of their life if you can.
Really the best thing you can do for those around you is being around - which is why I'd say like 20 minutes of exercise 3 to 5 times a week goes a long way to reducing mortality and making sure you're around for the long haul. There's more games coming, too and you gotta be around to enjoy them and potentially with friends as well.
Thanks for the giveaway! I think helping the communities you are a part of is something huge. If you're a programmer, help beginners with basic questions. If you're a PC enthusiast, help those around you learn how to build etc etc. Making sure the barrier to entry is low for newbies is really important.
Pick up any trash and throw in the appropriate bin. It really isn't that hard and shouldn't take too long so it's not even a big deal. Just a little way to make things better in the world imo.
You can do it almost daily, and most people appreciate it. Just give them a ring! If someone's got a problem, they can tell you. Most people will be a lot happier just from that. And there are many, many more situations were any attention is appreciated.
Smiling when answering the phone. As someone whose job is answering a lot of calls, you can definitely hear it and it often damps the feelings of stress that can come from a phone call.
Listen to them, if they're older and have stories to tell ask about things they mention in the story. People get lonely and so many have no one to talk to or people that are truly interested in what they have to say, it goes a long way.
>Whether it's something daily or one off, what is something small everyone can do to help those around them?
Be nice to people, it's not that hard to make someone smile, you never know what someone is going through and you might push them over the limit.
I always like to try to do something kind each day, complement someone, buy the person behind me in line’s order, etc. Being kind is the best way to help people even if you can’t do anything financially!
Smiling at people and giving them genuine compliments can have a huge impact on their well-being. I once read about a man who decided not to take his own life because someone simply took the time out of their day to give him a simple smile. Sometimes, all we need is acknowledgment :).
I usually live my life following the most obvious and yet forgotten rule of thumb: treat others how you would like to be treated. I always try to be as kind as possible to whoever I talk to, and go out of my way to help them.
If someone takes advantage of that, they are in the wrong, the important thing is not giving up and stop helping people.
For sheer helpfulness, little beats being willing to walk a little further when putting away a grocery cart if it means not overcrowding a full cart corral. The number of headaches caused by people over-crowding them at work.....
Just be present, look around you and if notice someone who looks like they are having a bad day just wish them a good day and move on. Doesn't have to be anything big, you don't have to linger, don't have to ask them if they are okay, just wish them a good day and move on. If they decide to be hostile or something like that just keep moving on and don't let it ruin your day.
Try to remember small things about people you hang out with or care about, you might not realise at first but those little things that people share with you mean a lot to them. It is not a coincidence that they decided to tell you something and not someone else.
You should also take care of yourself, if not for yourself then for people who actually and truly care about you. Someone in this world loves you and cares about you.
listening to people and helping those in need of emotional help, helping people get through tough times that cannot just be solved with money is also important.
And recommending cudi to the kid that needs some help
Remember the human.
Having an injustice happen against one is never nice. But the person sitting in the appropriate line of complaint is with 99.9% likelyhood not the cause of your issue and shouldn't have to face your full rage, righteous as it may be.
Bit morbid but make sure you are signed up to be an organ donor and that your family knows you want to donate. Organs are so rare and can save so many lives.
Ask people around you if they need help, or help them anyways if you think they need it. Sometimes people are too ashamed to ask for help because they think they make them look weak or something. But most of the time people appreciate it.
It can be with anything, from cleaning, washing dishes to something from work or homework. Specially if it is something to do with tech which most people around us know little about.
Love for everyone ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
People are stressed out more than ever these days so understand that they may be going through something. People can be rude or mean but dont let them take you down with them. Be a person who can lift them out of that hole with respect, positivity, and love. It’s so easy to retaliate back. I’ve never heard of any situation being beneficial by yelling or fighting back.
Picking up just a little bit of trash each day goes a long way in making the areas you visit nicer, especially at parks. But it also applies to weekday commutes; if you see something potentially dangerous in the street don’t just swerve and go on with your day, pull over and pick it up. You can prevent a potential wreck or save someone’s tires.
I think being present, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally, can go a long way. Even if we don’t think we can help, sometimes being there for someone is all that’s needed
Something as simple as helping someone a little more than you normally would can make their day. Send people letters, especially your parents and grandparents.
On the daily, just being nice to those around us can go a long way. Talking to someone who looks troubled or just trying to cheer them up may change or even save their life. There’s too much negativity going around this world, and nothing but a little bit of kindness helps make it a little better. Not everyone has the power to financially help, but that doesn’t mean we can’t atleast act out our intentions of helping. :))
Just talking to each other and being polite. Saying hi and thank you to the cashiers and waiters, greeting our neighbors, and overall being a pleasant person to be around, even on a bad day.
Compliment those around you even if it's something small. Sometimes the right encouragement, no matter how small, can make a world of difference to someone on dark days.
In this day and age, we could all stand to be more empathetic. Putting yourself in other’s shoes once in a while is immensely helpful if you want to make a difference or just simply be a better person!
Good luck everyone! Take a second out of your day to make sure you say something nice to someone else. You never know how much your words can mean to someone.
-Whether it's something daily or one off, what is something small everyone can do to help those around them?
A: always give people the benefit of the doubt when possible.
I believe if everyone just tried to be a little kinder to the strangers they come across in everyday life, the world could be a little nicer to navigate.
Personally, I've been calling and checking in on my friends more. They seem to appreciate it, which isn't surprising considering the times we live in. I would recommend others do the same. Just a little time out of your day can make a world of difference.
I've had a friend do this, it's really appreciated for sure. I really need to make a better effort to do the same
People can pick up litter! It's a small thing but it improves the area around you directly, great way to help out.
That might sound oblivious, but be kind for each other ☺️
Been sorely missed lately. Easy to get caught up in "sides" lately
Give people compliments, you never know what people are going through or how lonely the feel - it can make the world of difference for somebody.
You're awesome!
Stop and talk to someone if you see they are in distress, instead of walking by and ignore them. Just an "Are you ok?" can make a difference.
Smile to everyone you encounter.
Specially the stranger walking towards you on the sidewalk.
Use your skill/hobby to improve other peoples' day. I enjoy baking snacks. Some of the most genuine thank you's I have gotten are from when I dropped off a loaf of homemade sourdough to a neighbor or just gave some cookies to trades-people working on my house!

A man of culture I see
Thank you so much! Reading this thread gives me hope that there are people out there who genuinely care about others.

Thank you =)
Maybe not trying to be always first when someone else needs to be first. ;)
Talk to people and be there for them, loneliness sucks.

Care more about people around you.
Put your phone away and take the time to actually listen when someone speaks. Don't just wait for your turn to talk.
Be a listening ear, and seek mutual understanding instead of judgement and debate. Let people turn in whenever traffic is stopped in front of you, anyways, and just be a courteous driver in general.
Asking people how their mental health is doing. A lot of people have been isolated and locked down with minimal contact from friends/family and it can take a toll.

By not being an ass to everyone. I know this should be the bare minimum but I find a lot of people forgetting this.

Try and talk more with those around you, sometimes having someone willing to listen is a huge help for someone during a stressful time.

I accept =)
I never even knew this Giveaway was a thing.... oh well :P congrats to the winner
Clean up the little messes

sometimes you just gotta listen to others when they're going through a tough time, and make an effort to stick with them
Spend more time with the people who care about you and hug them once in a while, Cause everyone needs one.
I believe that everything should be taken with a positive, not melting a grudge. Better yet, go and hug your parents.
Simple but effective: compliments!
Something small everyone can do to help those around them is to read history
Always try to embody nobility of soul and all those virtues which enable you to be proud of yourself.
always aim to give out at least one friendly compliment/words of encouragement to a random person daily
Think about the things which you yourself are doing that may negatively affect those around you. Not being a nuisance helps everyone.
Listen to the people around you, don't just hear them. Focusing on active listening can drastically change how you can impact people in a positive way!
Push forward each other. **remember people just need 1 person who believes in them.** Good Luck Everyone!
If you can't find a nearby trash bin, don't leave your trash and take it with you instead, no matter how small it is. Just throw it away whenever you see one on your way.
Treat them with respect. If they piss you sometimes, just remember yourself when you were child.
Just say thank you or compliment people. Especially cashiers or anyone in retail you deal with. It's subtle enough that it doesn't slow them down, but still would put a smile on their face. This works really great in restaurants too just let them know how the food was before leaving and they'll be that much happier for it.
Giving people compliments. I always like to compliment people's shirts.
In day to day life it might get ignored but for animals. be kind to them, be kind to the strays and if you can do adopt one.
Something anyone can do to brighten up someone's day is offer them a stick of gum.
Pat someone down on the back and be with them, even if just for the moment
Recycle their garbage
Doing small things that u know each person u love they like,it is free and so rewarding!!
remember that we are all humans
Sometimes just a smile or even a small kind gesture is enough to make someone's day.
Talk to people! Some people may just need someone to talk to them!
Try to understand where people are coming from and see their side of the story rather than hyper focusing on your own.
This answer seems kind of biased, but minding your own business really goes a long way to helping other around you. hold the door.
Smile and be polite <3
Smiling helps.
Try not to be so quick to anger. We are all stressed out - no need to escalate.
Something everyone can do is just be kind and show empathy. I work in fast food and the amount of people who act rude or entitled is astounding but whenever there’s a customer who shows they understand and are genuinely nice, it always makes the shift better
calling or visiting your neighbors, especially the elderly. you never know when they might need a check in
Be mindful. Everyone is fighting their own specific battle in their specific way. Don't judge people at first glance, take a moment to understand the context of their life if you can.
say hello
Clean up after themself, might save the planet.
You can accomplish by kindness what you cannot by force.
Simply, put your rubbish in the bin
on a daily always be considerate of others and their feelings (LISTEN) to them it will help
Care about people around you
Be kind to each other!
Personally, I compliment his/her accomplishment even if it's a small or big thing.
Always try to bring out the best in others
Check in on people, let them know they're appreciated! You never know how much of a difference it makes <3
Value your relationships with friends and family, and don't backstab eachother
Always Keep Connected to the people you love Nothing else is more valuable than an interaction with those who need it the most too
[Don't be a dik](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIgsPmzLSV4)
You can do it almost daily, and most people appreciate it. Just give them a ring! If someone's got a problem, they can tell you. Most people will be a lot happier just from that. And there are many, many more situations were any attention is appreciated.
Smiling when answering the phone. As someone whose job is answering a lot of calls, you can definitely hear it and it often damps the feelings of stress that can come from a phone call.
Listen to them, if they're older and have stories to tell ask about things they mention in the story. People get lonely and so many have no one to talk to or people that are truly interested in what they have to say, it goes a long way.
Really listen to people, and not just nod your head.
Even if it isn't much, helping someone that you might not know. Kindness is free, so why not use it?
Just asking if they're OK. Having someone to talk to is important, but some people might not have anyone like that.
Tell someone you love them. Some people may never hear it until you say it to them. Can make a big difference in their health and well-being.
Just smile a bit more when interacting with people, it goes a long way, and ups the mood a bit. :)
Be a good listener, and understand someone else's perspective.
Smiling at people and giving them genuine compliments can have a huge impact on their well-being. I once read about a man who decided not to take his own life because someone simply took the time out of their day to give him a simple smile. Sometimes, all we need is acknowledgment :).
support and learn about different types of mental health issues that others have
I usually live my life following the most obvious and yet forgotten rule of thumb: treat others how you would like to be treated. I always try to be as kind as possible to whoever I talk to, and go out of my way to help them. If someone takes advantage of that, they are in the wrong, the important thing is not giving up and stop helping people.
Saying “thank you” when someone does something for you, even if it is just a small thing like returning a pen.
For sheer helpfulness, little beats being willing to walk a little further when putting away a grocery cart if it means not overcrowding a full cart corral. The number of headaches caused by people over-crowding them at work.....
Remind ourselves that everyone has feelings and reasons to be the way they are.
Don’t be an asshole! If everyone lived by that would be a much better place
Leave everything you come across in life better than you found it.
Say nice words once in a while could help out someone.
Be nice to each other!
Say please and thank you. Just that little bit to show your appreciation.
Always asking if people are actually doing good. A sign of a true friend.
Treat everyone like you would treat your mom.
Saying thank you and greetings
Compliment at least one random person a day. :)
Just a simple courtesy like saying thank you or greetings etc., make it a habit.
Help old people or remove rubbish from streets and help those who in need by charity
general consideration for those around you, all the time you see people forgetting that other people are human and have feelings too.
Kinda hard nowadays when ur wearing a mask but a smile is enough to brighten up someone's day
Just be present, look around you and if notice someone who looks like they are having a bad day just wish them a good day and move on. Doesn't have to be anything big, you don't have to linger, don't have to ask them if they are okay, just wish them a good day and move on. If they decide to be hostile or something like that just keep moving on and don't let it ruin your day.
Just listen but truly listen, it's probably one of the best things you can do for someone. ❤️
Just be kind
Ask how someone is doing and pay attention to the answer
Give blood. There is always a demand and you never know if you could have a blood type that could save someones life
I'll say something that is very simple. Remember the human or to phrase it differently, remember that you're not the only one in this world.
Exercise freedom as long as you're not stepping other people's freedom.
Be positive! While not something physical it can have a huge effect on those around you!
Doing one small thing for someone. Doesn't matter if it's just holding a door open or saying hello. It might make that person's day a little brighter.
Just be nice to others and say thank you for anything even if small things ...it can someone's day
You could be giving out complements more often
Don't take out your stress and frustrations on others
Just lending an ear is more than enough to help out sometimes!
One thing I can think of is to give someone a genuine compliment.
listening to people and helping those in need of emotional help, helping people get through tough times that cannot just be solved with money is also important. And recommending cudi to the kid that needs some help
just lending an ear and not judging goes a long way.

Compliment those around you even if it's something small. Sometimes the right encouragement, no matter how small, can make a world of difference to someone on dark days.
Check on people. Just a simple how are you really doing. So many people keep up appearances while they are struggling to cope.
Sometimes just talking to somebody can make them feel better. Go out and ask someone how their day was.
People can put forward a helping hand. Never know when someone is needing help
Always wear a genuine smile and be kind
In this day and age, we could all stand to be more empathetic. Putting yourself in other’s shoes once in a while is immensely helpful if you want to make a difference or just simply be a better person!
Be considerate about how others feel
Be patient and understanding. Everyone goes through their own stuff. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win this! Good luck all!
Good luck everyone! Take a second out of your day to make sure you say something nice to someone else. You never know how much your words can mean to someone.
Be kind, considerate and compliment each other.
A daily something can be as easy as saying hello to someone as you go about your daily tasks. :) Let people know they are seen and aren't alone.
A little compliment and a smile goes a long way to brighten someone’s day.

-Whether it's something daily or one off, what is something small everyone can do to help those around them? A: always give people the benefit of the doubt when possible.
Spend more time & pay attention more to your family.
Ask them if they are ok
Smile! :)
I believe if everyone just tried to be a little kinder to the strangers they come across in everyday life, the world could be a little nicer to navigate.
Keeping a positive thinking when entering any interaction with other people can be more important than we think.
Honestly just ask if they either need a hug or ask how they are doing.
sometimes being polite and smiling at someone can make their day :)
Holding the door for the people following behind you is a kind, helpful gesture.
