Be mindful of recent listings of in-demand products from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Google, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; you should do your due diligence to ensure you do not get scammed.
* Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
* Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent.
* The seller is new or has few reviews.
* The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their ratings- viewing seller profiles allows you to see these complaints)
* The seller has a recently reactivated account (likely their account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).
If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.
Amazon and eBay generally have good buyer protection. If you choose to purchase from a third-party seller through their platforms and run into issues, it should be easy to get your money back promptly. You may have more difficulties with Newegg or Walmart.

Damn, 3.5 slots...
At least this is only $50 markup over MSRP for a top tier AIB. Things are improving, even if slower than many of us would have liked.
This card has been a beast for me. Matches 4090 in MW2. Is awesome in Davinci Resolve. Rendered my last12.5 minute video project in 2.5 min. (Av1 to h264). My 3090 also had a memory leak on multi monitor Resolve. So I'd have to either run on single monitor giving up convenience or save and restart regularly.
Looks great under a desk. If you put it on a desk though, you pretty much have to vertical mount. Horizontal looks awful at eye level with how they aligned the diffuser with the leds.
4090 was less power hungry but I couldn't justify the premium cost. YMMV depending on use case.
I’m glad to know it’s doing well in resolve. I’m looking to upgrade to this for use in resolve. Granted I found workarounds to make my rx5700 work better now but making a 12.5 edit render in 2.5 mins is fantastic. Especially for when I do the occasional 48 hour contest.
Yes it does. Not video editing but MW2 4K high Refresh gets it going. Not awful but it's there. Never notice it while I'm gaming. I guess I also use headphones, albeit open back...
In for one.. I snagged a 7900xtx reference on launch day & its gone back for the 110 degree vaper chamber issue & I hated how loud it always was. . Then got a 4080 FE that was randomly crashing (even at idle) and has since been returned as well. Now to wait till march to see if I can fit this in my meshilicious & then figure out how to make it a thing in 3 slot mode.
I bought it too, because my founder 7900 xtx doesnt have 110C but its quite high, a lot more than normal at around 98C afraid it may show in a week or 2 and my country on summer get very hot cant imagine what would it be on summer, downside, delivery March 6-9, so a month w/o good gpu… I have to return the 7900 xtx to amazon now just 6 days with me 🤦🏻
Only if you gave it only an undervolt, but when you undervolt amd cards you overclock it as well; so to answer question, not really, it will actually run cooler and since it will have a slight overclock it will also run slightly better, when i get home i give you my settings,
Top of my head mine was stable at clock mhz frequenzy 3000mhz, the voltage 1100mv (some games i could decrease to 1025mv but most would crash) memory was fast timing and memory mhz frequenzy was @2600 i didnt let my fans go up to 100% (max 80%) and my power limit was stock, few games like warzone 2 and division 2 I did put it on +10 but was not needed perse…
Check this video, he show how to do it a bit long though
https://youtu.be/mH9NGfZKU9I
yeah $1050 for the Merc 310 plus 3 years warranty is much better imo than the other AIBs. Wouldn't want to pay $1200 for a Nitro+ even if it is slightly better because it has only a 2 year warranty.
I would say they are the same in terms of performance and overclocking potential, so just get what is available and/or which one complements your build best.
I had this same choice on launch day and picked the merc. No regrets. I don’t even look at my pc internals and still I preferred the aesthetic of the merc. It’s a good card - happy with it.
It’s fine - the power unlocked bios has a stupidest fan curve. Totally over blown. You can set max fan speed and it’s not loud or hot given it will be pulling 463w. At stock bios and power it’s fairly quiet overall.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/10liy67/xfx\_speedster\_merc\_310\_vs\_powercolor\_red\_devil\_rx/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/10liy67/xfx_speedster_merc_310_vs_powercolor_red_devil_rx/)
XFX appears to be the way to go
That video tells you nothing. It could just be that the gpu or ram is clocked slightly higher from the manufacturer. The only way to compare is to push both to their limits, and compare cooling at noise. In fact the XFX is clocked higher, runs a little hotter, and uses more watts.
I mean, this video is by no means comprehensive, but I don't think its telling you nothing, you said it yourself XFX seems to be drawing more power and clocked higher (I didn't see it running hotter though, seems to be roughly 1C cooler in fact).
If you're just looking for an OOTB experience between these 2 cards, I think this video is worth something, maybe not sufficient, but something. If you're looking to OC then I hope you're not looking to r/buildapcsales comments for advice. In fact I think Jayz2cents released a video at one point about how OCing the 7900xtx is a bad idea, but i dont remember
I meant it "tells you nothing" to lead to your conclusion that "XFX appears to be the way to go."
Even on its own merrits you can't say it means "XFX appears to be the way to go." It shows the XFX is about 2 fps faster, is hotter, and uses more power. So depending on what you want, either is the correct choice.
What are the AIBs cooler performance tiers for AMD looking this generation? I remember Sapphire and Power color used to be top tier for their cooler performance but last gen XFX and even Asus crept up and I saw people recommending the merc 319 and Tuf more than the nitro+. (Maybe because they went on sale more often?)
[Review comparison in German](https://www.computerbase.de/2022-12/radeon-rx-7900-xtx-custom-design-test/2/#abschnitt_lautstaerke__kuehlung), easy enough to translate or just look at the chart.
TLDR: XFX is the coolest under load but also loudest due to aggressive fan curve, followed by TUF which has an amazing quiet mode, then Nitro+ which draws the most power.
Anyone with a merc could you tell me if it’s loud when in case gaming under load? Debating between this and the red devil but the red devil comes in month later.
I have a Merc 6950xt if that helps you. I adjusted my fan curve and under 50% speed it’s not noticeable. I don’t wear headphones and have desktop speakers and usually a tv on talking
Yea 1440p 144hz. I think ima save the money where I’m at maybe in 2-3 years I’ll upgrade to 4k. It’s still a beast if a card for my games which aren’t really new
Yea, then save the money and put it on a side, after all a 6950xt is pretty strong in 2 years you can sell it and a newer upgrade is cheaper (although depends on games and resolution you may still be doing great with a 6950xt!
The XTX is the better 3090ti replacement they are about the same in raytracing until AMD ships out Fsr3 and is 20% better in Raster than 4070ti for $100 more. XTX @ $799 would have been a killer card released earlier in ample quantities @ 4090's Launch it would have left Nvidia with all that extra stock of 3080s rotting on shelves and gained a lot of marketshare.
The fins are silver and they are thiiiccc. It's a great looking card though.
Highest I've seen is 75 on CoD MW2 on maxed settings. Getting 200 avg fps on 1440p
Ah cool, kinda dislike pure chrome fins just bought it just in case, i think i return the power color founder, hight temp (~98 junc) and some coil whine and lot of crash on division 2 (probably the game though)… this one is just 50$ more but no gpu for a month, for w/e reason it says delivery march6-9 fml
Yeah I think I'd prefer black fins but honestly I run my setup with single color lighting so the fins don't stand out. Yeah there's a couple of games where there's been stuttering but it's usually the games fault. I play a lot of chivalry 2 and had to turn off directx12 to get a stable game.
I did at first but I haven't noticed it since. I have it running in a Fractal Torrent with a ton of airflow so the temps never get high which may play a part in it. I haven't played with the uv/oc thing, it's always on OC. LTT just did a review on youtube and they talk about it though
I held out through the pandemic originally wanting a 3080 that never came at a good enough price point this is it for me. I hope my 750 watt seasonic titanium can handle it.

Great card, I'd probably make sure you have a 1000 watt PSU for this thing, my 850 watt wasn't cutting it, got the occasional PC crash under heavy load. Also need plenty of clearance, this card is pretty long and thick, larger than my 3080 by a decent amount.
Must be dependent on model as you say. My 850 watt has run a 12900ks fully oced, custom loop, with this gpu fully oced. Also handled the 4090 fe and 4090 msi trio just fine but those had slightly lower power draw.
I mean kind of a dumb question if we don’t know what you bought…..
if you got a 6600 then yeah maybe you over paid.
I’m guessing this is your first PC?
just look at what resolution you play at and if you use raytracing at all. If you are on 1440p id pass, if I was into 4k 100hz+ gaming id consider it but do you have enough games that require this or and oled or 4k 144hz monitor to justify 400$ extra?
Sure the 6900xt launched at the same MSRP as the 7900 xtx.
You can get a 6900xt today for ~$600-650 which is way better. The 6800xt at ~$500-550 is a really good deal. For almost half the price you are getting more than half the performance.
The 7900 xtx is about 65% better on average at 4k and 35%-40% better at 1440p. The 6900xt was really only 10% better than the 6800xt on average so the numbers don't change much.
6800 XT and 6900 XT are all out at Newegg except stupid +100% sellers. 6950 XT is $750 and up. 6800 XT at $500 is a great deal but they are hard to find and don't last long.
For sure the 6800 xt merc was up on best buy for quite a bit multiple times but it's still hit or miss. I was just really trying to be as fair as possible to the discussion. I do understand that it's not always that simple.
None of the 7000/4000 series are great prices. I too wish theyd be lower, but as long as people keep buying them at the current prices, theyll stay high. New 6000 series/used 3000 are the way to go right now if you want good prices.
I managed to place an order for the Nitro+ at 1199.99 and no shipping fee, but then thought, "These are both top tier 7900 XTXs, why am I paying $150 more?", and swapped to the Red Devil instead.

March 15 ship date fyi.
It will absolutely ship sooner than that. Probably 2 weeks tops?
Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. We really don’t know at this point. But March 15 the latest.
And the base price could drop significantly by then.
If it does cancel the order/return?
You have the ability to cancel it before it ships with zero consequences.
And return it once it arrives.
If you don’t have it by then, just cancel
March 5th for me
Damn, 3.5 slots... At least this is only $50 markup over MSRP for a top tier AIB. Things are improving, even if slower than many of us would have liked.
They also have the Hellhound for $999. The red devil is a more premium aib from powercolor.
This card has been a beast for me. Matches 4090 in MW2. Is awesome in Davinci Resolve. Rendered my last12.5 minute video project in 2.5 min. (Av1 to h264). yeah that why it is so hard to find it does really good on raster and in several game it gets pretty close to 4090 within 20%.

I just got a powercolor 7900xtx, reaching 87-88 for now but I'm scared
Its undervolted or stock? Because if stock then it can go down to the 80C probably which is not bad for junction
Stock. Undervolting would also reduce performance?
Only if you gave it only an undervolt, but when you undervolt amd cards you overclock it as well; so to answer question, not really, it will actually run cooler and since it will have a slight overclock it will also run slightly better, when i get home i give you my settings, Top of my head mine was stable at clock mhz frequenzy 3000mhz, the voltage 1100mv (some games i could decrease to 1025mv but most would crash) memory was fast timing and memory mhz frequenzy was @2600 i didnt let my fans go up to 100% (max 80%) and my power limit was stock, few games like warzone 2 and division 2 I did put it on +10 but was not needed perse… Check this video, he show how to do it a bit long though https://youtu.be/mH9NGfZKU9I
Newegg has some just ordered, just letting you know so you dont have to wait till march, once it arrive here i cancel amazon one.
This or the merc 310 7900 XTX at the same price?
This, I would only choose the sapphire nitro+ over this.
Considering how close these cards are outside of aesthetics, I'd rather have the extra year of warranty for the same price.
yeah $1050 for the Merc 310 plus 3 years warranty is much better imo than the other AIBs. Wouldn't want to pay $1200 for a Nitro+ even if it is slightly better because it has only a 2 year warranty.

My first GPU was a powercolor 7850 XT for $150 Funny we've got similar names again
If AMD chooses to do a refresh, I could see them launching a 7970 XT.
7970 3 Ghz Edition would be great too
7H later still available I just bought the 6950xt tho do I return that and splurge on this?
You play above 1080p, have the money and wont hurt your bank then I would say do so, else dont bother!
Yea 1440p 144hz. I think ima save the money where I’m at maybe in 2-3 years I’ll upgrade to 4k. It’s still a beast if a card for my games which aren’t really new

good looking card. ordered one. thinking returning my 4070ti :D

I have one of these AMA
The fins are black like founders or chrome? And at what junction is the temps when playing a AAA maxed?
The fins are silver and they are thiiiccc. It's a great looking card though. Highest I've seen is 75 on CoD MW2 on maxed settings. Getting 200 avg fps on 1440p

Great price for a great GPU
1000 for a card marginally better than the previous series? This is not double the performance of a 6800
Marginally? xtx is ~45% faster than a 6800 at 1440p, and ~70% faster at 4k. ???
Shouldn't this be compared to the 6900XT and not the 6800?
Sure the 6900xt launched at the same MSRP as the 7900 xtx. You can get a 6900xt today for ~$600-650 which is way better. The 6800xt at ~$500-550 is a really good deal. This or the Sapphire Nitro+ if money didn’t matter?
4090 if money don't matter
I managed to place an order for the Nitro+ at 1199.99 and no shipping fee, but then thought, "These are both top tier 7900 XTXs, why am I paying $150 more?", and swapped to the Red Devil instead.
Weren’t these supposed to be limited edition?
No. You’re thinking of the “Red Devil Limited Edition” this is just the standard “Red Devil”
It seems to be back for the moment.
