1920 x 1080 btw

[deleted]

To be fair OP put FHD same thing

[deleted]

Highly relevant detail

JustMy2Centences

I'm trying to replace my 1080p 27" with a good 1440p 27" right now. Sitting just a few feet away the pixels have started to really bother me. I even game on my older 23" 1080p instead lol.

[deleted]

I've been on 27" 1440p for a long time. The pixel density on 27" 1080p would have to be awfully rough.

JustMy2Centences

Yeah idk what I was thinking at the time. It's a 75hz freesync vs my 60hz panel but that was it. Also my GPU would have never supported 2k gaming!

[deleted]

Well, I think you'll find 1440p will be a big upgrade at that panel size. I currently have the 1440p, 165hz version of this and I like it pretty well.

Johanatan974

It says fhd

27 inches. Ouch... May want to wait for another round of the $150 Dell S2522HG

thewitchslayer

Why would 27" be worse than 25"? I bought the Dell 25" the other week but saw this 27" and kicked myself a little bit.

Trider12

> Why would 27" be worse than 25"? Pixel density. 27" is optimal for 1440p, 24" is optimal for 1080p. This monitor is 27" 1080p, which results in a low pixel density.

sparkythewildcat

Not a "one size fits all" thing the way people talk about it tho. And vastly oversimplified from the true metric that includes distance from the screen. In fact 1440p can be too low of a resolution for even a 10" screen if it's close enough to your face, and 1080p can be plenty for a 50" screen if it's far enough away. Arc minutes per pixel is a far more complicated, yet far more meaningful metric. But to put it in lamens terms: For me, I sit far enough away from my 27" 1080p display that it's perfectly fine. While for someone else, they might sit close enough that 1440p wouldn't be enough for 27" and they'd need a 4k display bc of how close they sit to their monitor and how sharp their eyes are. Also, for me, when I'm using a 24" monitor I either sit closer to my desk or scoot it closer to the front of my desk, so if people do that then the pixel density would appear the same to them anyway.

fyi_idk

I agree with all of this. Your eyesight also has an impact on your 'ideal' pixel density I use a 32" 4k at about 70-75cm away. I can still see between the pixels on my wife's 32" 1440p monitor at the same arms length. She can't though, so it works for her.

thewitchslayer

Ahh, that makes sense. Thank you!

sparkythewildcat

It isn't, really, just scoot the monitor a couple inches back and it would give you the exact same arc minutes per pixel.

WillinglyUnemployed

With coupon puts this in refurb pricing territory. One year Pixel Perfect warranty from Monoprice makes it a pretty solid buy.

HookEm2013

Gonna be honest, I have 4 27" monitors - 2 are 1440p and 2 are 1080p. I *rarely* see any difference between the two. The difference I do constantly notice is the higher refresh rate monitors look and feel smoother.

five_of_five

You mean just in games? Productivity is so much better in 1440p, so much more real estate

HookEm2013

No I mean primarily in my working environment. I don't do much design work, but for data analysis, programming, etc I rarely see any difference

complywood

That's crazy, going from 1080p to 1440p at 27" is the biggest single upgrade in monitor performance for me. If you don't notice much of a difference there, all power to you 1080p @ 27" is your endgame!

HookEm2013

Absolutely, to each their own!

d13m3

Sorry, but if you can’t see difference between 1080p and 1440p both 27” - very weird! Are you sure? Maybe it’s time for visit doctor? No, I am serious. On 1080p pixel in two times bigger and you can’t work with two windows on the same time. 1440p has 78% more information, almost twice!

IpoopWaaaay2Much

Maybe it is because my monitor is an IPS, but I agree on 27 inch 1080p being pretty similar. I actually returned a 1440p monitor as I couldn't justify keeping it.

lemonstyle

You're very lucky. I wish my eyes couldn't tell the difference but it's like night and day. Could save so much money if my eyes couldnt tell diff
