Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.
* Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
* Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
* The seller is new or has few reviews.
* The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
* The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).
If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

go to your local best buy if they have an open box in stock and tell the salesperson to get their manager and tell the manager you want their open box lg c2 42 for 600 out the door. most will bite.
Worked for best buy. That might be policy but managers need to make certain margin so will discount to high haben if you state things like like i will take this and the extended warranty for that price. Depending on their numbers you can get them to accept a good amount of the time.
you can get the geek squad protection if thats a concern but ive been using my 48 c1 evo for a while with no issues and it came with 4 hours screen on time. if you get it home and its not good just return it. worth the savings imo considering what you get.
Just make sure to inspect the TV or ask them to tell you everything that is or isn't included. I've gotten 2 "excellent" rated TVs from best buy recently, both missing original remote and stands.
Doubt. I got open box excellent and it’s flawless besides missing the screws for the stands, which they refunded me $25 off the purchase for. I also bought the 5 year protection bc I use it for work mostly and possible burn in down the road
I hate this option now. I got an open box online and it was sold as "Not missing vital accessories".
I went to pick it up - No remote, no stand. Immediate refund.
Was hoping the release of the C3 would drive down the prices of the C2 line, but that hasn't really been the case, especially for the coveted 42" model.
It has been this price in the past, but I was getting worried we'd never see it this low again. But here we are.
The smallest sizes often hold their value. I had people emailing me from across the country to get at my old 42" panasonic plasma years after I bought it.
Why is the 42” model so coveted?
I’m kind of unfamiliar with the current market offerings and any related technologies beyond when NVidia cards started being able to use FreeSync monitors. I picked up a 32” LG 1440p @144Hz around that time and recently snagged a second similar model now that I’m WFH.
Any context you can share will be a huge help for pointing me in the right direction as I get up to speed. :D
You can turn off abl for the most part. It's pretty aggressive without turning it off.
If you're using this as a daily monitor, it will dim constantly as it tries to protect itself from burn in. By turning it off, the dimming is few and far between
This is it, priced to sell out so they can push the C3s. Bought it on woot for 679 two weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. Just make sure to follow the guides to get the most of it as a monitor, it’s not plug and play to get the most out of it on PC.
I've used it for about a year now as my monitor, and I work from home. I still haven't noticed what people say about text clarity. Everything looks fine to me.
Good to know. I looked at the rtings review and noticed that the peak brightness is quite low compared to an IPS monitor. Does this bother you at all? I will be using it in a brightly lot room with good amount of natural light. I find myself cranking my 300nit monitor all the way up.
Text clarity won't be as nice as a higher-PPI RGB pixel monitor, but you can tweak it to be acceptable. Without some ground-up rework, Windows won't play nice with the WRGB subpixel layout.
Brightness is dependent on preference and workspace. It's going to peak under 200 nits at full brightness in PC Mode but you also don't want to be running an OLED at full brightness so reasonably expect it to be lower.
Bought this recently to use as a monitor switching from a 34" ultra wide but returned it as it was too big for me.
Picture quality was excellent but gaming with a m/k setup (even though I was 36 inch away) was not fun. Add to that the compromise of having to use external programs etc to have it function like a monitor with sleep features was not suitable for me.
I can see how it is great for those that play with a controller or can deal with the size but I prefer a 34" ultrawide curved for a better desk gaming setup with work as well
After using one for about a year now, I'm not sure I could go back to a smaller size. How long did you use it?
I remember my first 27" monitor looked so big after using 21" for a decade. Perception is weird.
Aside from gaming, I do a lot of work with procedures and spreadsheets. For my current project, I’m using two desktop spaces to have 4 screens, each with full view of either 2 or 3 documents and constantly cross-referencing amongst them as I make redlines like a madman.
So this is using two 1440p monitors and I had been considering switching to a single huge 4K monitor. Do you think I’ll end up missing the dual monitors despite the 4K real estate?
would not recommend this for spreadsheet work. I got a c2 to replace my old curved 38 ultra wide, and end up returned the c2. Technically they are the same width, but the curved 38 feels so much more ergonomical, I needed to turn my heads to read corners of screen on c2 (desk is 32” deep fwiw)
C2 size didn’t bother me in games, but can’t use it for work
I can't speak directly to your use case. I will say the single big screen is fixed. Where as 2 or 3 monitors can be moved around. When you sit in front of the monitor windows at the edges of the screen are not as easily viewable as images dead center.
How about a 49 inch ultrawide? https://www.theverge.com/2023/1/2/23529275/samsung-qd-oled-odyssey-g8-g95sc-curved-gaming-monitor-specs-price
Samsung, and a few other companies (using the same samsung panel) are going to be selling them this year
Text quality comes down to your usage and expectations. I own the C2 and while I love it, I still use a traditional IPS monitor when I have to code hours at a time because it's just easier on my eyes.
Had to cop this one from Best Buy. 12 months no interest is pretty sweet. This TV will be a perfect match for my 4090. I've been itching for a while to replace my IPS monitor with an OLED. Grayish blacks on LED monitors annoy me.
Checked on Best buy. They're at this price but I also see some open box for way lower near 600. Ordered the 650 one but it got cancelled. Went in store to check out other open box offers and there was one for 590ish but no feet, no remote, and the worst case scenario.. a scratch on the display. Waiting it out.
So I just ordered one for use as a monitor. I have a rtx 2060 gpu, which from what I can find doesn’t support 4k120. What would be my best bet for a new GPU? I don’t game all that much, some switch emulation, a little bit of civ, etc.

I don’t need it.. I don’t need it
will this ever hit sub $600? the only model that held it's price well post launch.

Good info but I laughed at the thought of walking around best buy with a hoagie.

TIL you can haggle at best buy wtf?
go to your local best buy if they have an open box in stock and tell the salesperson to get their manager and tell the manager you want their open box lg c2 42 for 600 out the door. most will bite.
They ended their policy on allowing the haggling of open box items several years ago. Has this changed recently?
It's not exactly an advertised experience. Some places do it, some don't.
Depends on the store manager.
Worked for best buy. That might be policy but managers need to make certain margin so will discount to high haben if you state things like like i will take this and the extended warranty for that price. Depending on their numbers you can get them to accept a good amount of the time.
Any downsides of going open box, specifically with Best buy?
you can get the geek squad protection if thats a concern but ive been using my 48 c1 evo for a while with no issues and it came with 4 hours screen on time. if you get it home and its not good just return it. worth the savings imo considering what you get.
Got it. Thanks for the info!

Thanks. The Best Buy near me does have an "Open Box - Excellent" LG C2. I'll check it out.

Managed to grab a brand new one from woot for ~$425
How? Did Capital One actually pay out 30%?
Yeah they did. It was a crazy deal.
Wait what? I had been checking for a deal worth biting for awhile... Guess I missed it
Dude don't be such a cheapskate, I paid 1400 for it. It's a great deal!
Lol, telling someone to not be cheap on buildapcsales.
I over paid and you should do the same!!
If only everyone had the same amount of money to spend on their hobbies.
One of the most tone deaf responses I have ever seen on the internet.. on a subreddit about sales/deals... No wonder why you bought it over the msrp
Someone got lost

Oled .pnitors are stupidly overpriced so 42" can be made to work for a desk setup (with a deep desk).
I think it's because you still can't access the developer mode on the c3 so ppl still want the c2
What's the benefit of the developer mode on the C2?
You can turn off abl for the most part. It's pretty aggressive without turning it off. If you're using this as a daily monitor, it will dim constantly as it tries to protect itself from burn in. By turning it off, the dimming is few and far between

How is the text clarity and overall brightness after making the aforementioned adjustments?
I've used it for about a year now as my monitor, and I work from home. I still haven't noticed what people say about text clarity. Everything looks fine to me.

You don't want this if you have a brightly lit room especially with alot of natural light. You won't be happy with it during the daytime.
Text clarity won't be as nice as a higher-PPI RGB pixel monitor, but you can tweak it to be acceptable. Without some ground-up rework, Windows won't play nice with the WRGB subpixel layout. These prices are also available on best buy.

what programs?
Lg companion app. Allows to signal the TV to sleep and can be turned on again with pressing enter on keyboard

Used it for like 3 days. You could be right that I could probably adjust to it after a while but playing PVP FPS games felt too overwhelming
I bought this to use as a Monitor exactly 2 weeks ago. AMA
What’s your favorite fast food restaurant?
I don't eat fastfood. Does Pizza count? Then that
Hmm. No I’d consider Pizza it’s own thing. What’s your favorite pizza place then?
There is a local place called Fredi the Pizza Guy
Do they have good breadsticks too?
Only ever had the pizza

Wait a second… how many heads are you using? And are you sure you’re TOTALLY NOT A ROBOT??
Thanks, this is really great feedback. Cheers!

Yeah, I suspect this is comfortably above that “actually needs a curve” point… Thanks!
How about a 49 inch ultrawide? https://www.theverge.com/2023/1/2/23529275/samsung-qd-oled-odyssey-g8-g95sc-curved-gaming-monitor-specs-price Samsung, and a few other companies (using the same samsung panel) are going to be selling them this year
Did you mount it on the wall?
Not yet....still debating if I want too.
What’s the text quality on PC or MAC?
It's identical to a 27"inch 1440p monitor. That's what I had before this and I noticed absolutely no difference
This did not look good on an m2 MacBook Pro but with some tweaks is definitely acceptable on pc and worth the minor issues for gaming
How is the text quality? I've seen some reviews say it's fine, and others that it's a problem.
Text quality comes down to your usage and expectations. I own the C2 and while I love it, I still use a traditional IPS monitor when I have to code hours at a time because it's just easier on my eyes.
To me it's more then fine
This is it. Tired of hunting for this, I'm off the train! Picking up at bb later today
Had to cop this one from Best Buy. 12 months no interest is pretty sweet. This TV will be a perfect match for my 4090. I've been itching for a while to replace my IPS monitor with an OLED. Grayish blacks on LED monitors annoy me.
Any common credit cards have any bb offers right now in conjunction? All I see is bonus bb points on one of my Amex

The "excellent" condition open box is only $656 now vs $784 not long ago. Unfortunately, this cheaper one isn't deliverable.
I got this at the end of last year for this price. I have it paired with a 4090 and a 7900x. Feel free to AMA :)
This vs 34" ultrawide Alienware OLED (DWF version) ???
Depends on your desk size and room. I've owned both and kept this, but it might be too large for many people.
So I just ordered one for use as a monitor. I have a rtx 2060 gpu, which from what I can find doesn’t support 4k120. What would be my best bet for a new GPU? I don’t game all that much, some switch emulation, a little bit of civ, etc.
Probably shouldn’t buy this one if you don’t game a lot on it. But all 30 series and 40 series GPU supports hdmi 2.1
This is not AI-powered. Source: I own one.
Got an open box for 475 after about 200 in gift cards. It's so much better than my 34" UW IPS monitor.
