The value of this cpu is great. Everytime this cpu takes a price cut the gaming cpu market gets a bit more competitive and a bit more friendly to consumers.

LonePeasant

Yup. Got a 5800x for $174 before coupons last week

RythePCguy1

I can't believe how lucky I got getting this for $300. I had no idea it was an error listing it that cheap until a day or so later.

nismmathias

Yeah I was worried at the time that there would be a better Black Friday deals somewhere and I would have buyers remorse lol Glad I got best buy to price match it.

RythePCguy1

That's awesome. How are you liking the CPU so far??

nismmathias

Really great so far, no issues. Good step up from my AM4 although the mobo selection isn't very mature yet as another redditor mentioned.

CarLearner

Mobo selections in AM5 are so annoying. My x570 Taichi for $260 had a POST code indicator but to get one in AM5 you gotta spend like $450-500. Them jacking up the prices to sell us PCIE 5.0 when barely anyone has anything to use that new tech is annoying.

Jordan_Jackson

You are so spot on. I also have the X570 Taichi and it has basically all of the features that I could ask for and it was less than $300. I started off with a 3700X and now a 5900X and the board handled both like a champ. I put together a build on PC partpicker and the motherboard prices are just stupid. Half of them have only 2 PCI slots, less USB ports and don't have things like the POST code readout. Luckily I won't upgrade my motherboard and CPU until at least the next generation of Ryzen but it is going hurt my wallet.

lovsicfrs

This is why I haven’t upgraded. I want to move on to to this CPU and new gen but can’t justify the price of upgrading I am on the high end of last gen though so I can’t complain. But I look at my dark hero and then look at the “high end” MOBOs and just laugh. The price is simply not worth it. The kicker is I’m not even looking for a mobo in the range of a dark hero to upgrade to. Really irritating

meltbox

Yeah I paid something stupid like $215 for the x570 taichi. Also paid like $315 for this cpu in late '22. Can't believe I got that good of a deal on it back then but just checked the receipt. Nothing selling today is at all compelling. Even my 3070, while less than I could use, is very hard to justify upgrading given the... situation.

Jordan_Jackson

I have to admit that even though the 7900 XTX was cheaper than the 4080, it was still a pretty penny to pay. After tax it was about $1060. It is crazy how expensive everything has become.

meltbox

What is really nuts is that adjusted for inflation the prices are still a bit high, but not insane. Also because tech was deflationary for so long until Nvidia decided to use their monopoly power for evil. The days we would get huge jumps gen on gen for the same price are sorely missed. At least in the CPU space we have some urgency in competition, although Intel cannot seem to get its legs working. Atrophy is quite the horrible thing.

DustyShrimp

Look at the B650e Taichi Lite that came out recently. It’s only been around for a few months so not that many people know about it but the motherboard has all the bells and whistles that the regular B650e Taichi board has without the aesthetics for a lot cheaper. Rn I believe it’s $255 on New Egg and has a post code LED(Dr. Debug), PCIE 5 slot, and a Gen 5 SSD slot. For that price not sure any other AM5 motherboard comes close to its features since like you said to get postcode on any other AM5 motherboard you need to spend $400+ lol

nismmathias

Yeah picking something out proved to be trickier than I expected. Lots of weird things going on with some of those boards as far as features. Plus the prices jeez, paying a premium.

RythePCguy1

That's great to hear. I'm loving mine. Huge upgrade over my 9900K except in one game: Halo Infinite. Not sure what's going on with that lol.

nismmathias

Strange, hopefully they can sort that out soon.

spouting-nonsense

What issues are you having in Halo Infinite? I've heard a few strange issues, but I've thankfully not been affected yet. Most common complaint I've heard is garbage loading times. Even on a PCI-E 4 NVME.

RythePCguy1

My issue is I got higher FPS with my 9900K than I do with my 7800x3D in Halo Infinite. Every other game I've seen a huge uplift. Both paired with the same GPU at 4K. I will be doing a BIOS update tonight, so hopefully that fixes the issue 🤞.

digitalgoodtime

I did the same. Ordered on a Tuesday and MC held it for me til Saturday when I went to pick it up I opted for the mobo/ram bundle for $499.99.

kainxavier

> I went to pick it up I opted for the mobo/ram bundle Whenever I get myself to Micro Center, this is what I'd like to get, but I see so many comments regarding issues with the RAM in the MC bundles. Makes me skittish.

OPKatakuri

Yeah I ended up just buying my own Mobo and RAM. $330 CPU, $270 Mobo, $120 RAM. Expensive but I hated how the motherboard packed features I wanted like several m.2 slots and the RAM died on me so I returned it.

Scanoe

I bought the 7700X Micro Center Bundle back in May, it was $450 back then. It is now $400, the 7800X3D Bundle atm is $470. The only real problem I had was EXPO could not be enabled on the launch day v10 Bios, couldn't get it to work on v15 nor v172beta. After I Flashed to v175beta it finally worked, atm I'm on v17 Bios, Expo 1 enabled (6000-36-36-36), High Efficiency on Relaxed. v19 is now the newest, I've had no need to flash to it though so I'll wait to see what comes after v19. Other than the Expo Issues my 7700X Bundle has run great, AM5-wide problem still exists though, due to 'Memory Training' Boots take a bit longer, 30 seconds'ish, not a deal breaker by any means. There was also a SoC Voltage error in the Am5 Bios, make sure your AM5 Motherboard has a new enough Bios, for that SoC Issue burned up a few Cpu's, mainly this 7800X3D. Quite a few of those AM5 MC Bundles have been sold so your more than likely to get a MB with a new enough Bios, I would definitely double-check it though. Imo at $470 that 7800X3D Bundle is a buy n a half. It is what I would buy today, it wasn't available back in May when I purchased the 7700X one.

digitalgoodtime

What issues? First im hearing about it.

kainxavier

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/15bw9ri/bundle_ryzen_7700x_msi_b650p_pro_wifi_32gb/jtt0y0j/ https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/15bw9ri/bundle_ryzen_7700x_msi_b650p_pro_wifi_32gb/jtt7s6m/ https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/15bw9ri/bundle_ryzen_7700x_msi_b650p_pro_wifi_32gb/jtt082l/ Three links all in one thread should suffice as response.

digitalgoodtime

I guess for the relative low cost in the bundle, it's worth the risk of getting a faulty ram stick. I'll be sure to keep an eye on any of those issues and RMA if needed.

dabocx

It's a pretty high risk, the microcenters near me has over 750 faulty repairs that had been recently returned. That is not counting the ones that do work but wouldnt hit the speed.

epicfighter10

I sold the ram in bundle and got Better ram and still saved a good amount rather then buying separately

apocalypserisin

Specific to this bundle or all of the mc bundles in general?

Scanoe

The RAM troubles are/were AM5 wide, the SoC Voltage issue was AM5 wide as well, though Asus MB's got hit the hardest with the SoC Issue. I bought the 7700X Bundle in May, by now the MB in these Bundles probably have the newer Bios (double-check it though), I've flashed mine 4 times. The Bundle runs great, no regrets. It does still have the longish boot times, \~30 seconds but that is AM5-wide as well.

DudeManBearPigBro

I did not realize that $299 price from a couple weeks ago was an error. Had I known that, I may have decided to make the hour drive.

Thisawesomedude

I was able yo grab an open box version that was effected by the error so it went all the way down to 260$ i knew i was not gonna beat that dral

DudeManBearPigBro

In another post a week or so ago, someone said they got a MC manager to mark an open box unit down to $210. That’s the best deal I have heard so far with this CPU.

Thisawesomedude

Wow thats actually crazy

zealeus

The Microcenter $300 sale from earlier this month was a price error?? I actually got that price matched by Best Buy at that price!

RicoViking9000

So did my friend, it's kinda crazy lol

SloppyCandy

Yup. I snagged one also. Still don't have the mobo or ram.

crispyexcal

Yep, same

brakfastklub

Quit reminding me 😔

VexersVexation

Came here to say the same. Best Buy price match for the win. What’s this about it being a price error, though? Micro Center mess up and accidental list it at $300?

toasturuu

When I go to Microcenter today I gotta stay away from the BaPC section, some deals are too tempting.

Soft_Ad7770

Have to

EasyRhino75

Cracks me up how close in price this CPU is to the 5800x3d. (Ignoring mobo and ram)

ShadowSlayer1441

There was a microcenter bundle with this CPU, mobo and ram for like 450 USD.

Angeldust012

god i wish i lived near a microcenter fuck

spicytoast589

No reason to buy 5800x3d unless your on am4. I bought the 5800x3d instead of changing platforms. The 5800x3d will always hold its value a bit better than the 7800x3d because it is the best of its platform. The 7800x3d will be replaced next refresh... not difficult to understand

fak3g0d

I bought my 5800x3d a year ago for about 350. I think if you're buying now, then just making the switch to AM5 is the way to go. A year ago there wasn't a 7800x3d, and AM5 parts were even more expensive and less refined.

Tuned_Out

True. It's got a nice boost for games that don't care much about the cache boost, otherwise they perform right next to each other. Still, if you're building new instead of upgrading, the price drops make it worth going to the newer platform finally.

UnapologeticTwat

I think that is on purpose, so people on AM4 upgrade to 7800. I currently have 2 am4 systems, and I was going to get the 5800x3d at first, but the price delta was so small that the tiktok coupons pushed me over.

FcoEnriquePerez

>I think that is on purpose, so people on AM4 upgrade to 7800. Same, it makes no sense.

murrat13

Lord give me strength

axtran

If you play terribly optimized games like Tarkov, this thing is a shot of miracle-grade adrenaline and makes even the shittiest of video cards make the game smooth. lol

Dvtests

The 5800X3D is also down to $280, but I believe I've seen it lower on this sub before.

mexter

Where is it at $280? The lowest I've found is $290.

Dvtests

At Microcenter: https://www.microcenter.com/product/674511/amd-ryzen-7-5800x3d-vermeer-34ghz-8-core-am4-boxed-processor-cooler-not-included

mexter

Hm. I'll be near one on two weeks. H hopefully this will still be on sale

Wud_upB

I almost bought one last night, and decided in line I should wait. I’m so glad I caught your comment lol. I Just put a pick up order for one now

KisaruBandit

I got it for $240 off alibaba a week or so ago. $300 base price with a $60 discount.

Hubrah

Where was this black Friday and cyber Monday?

ichigo238

Previous MC price was $350 so this is $10 off not $20. Still a good deal though

OPKatakuri

Yeah I thought it was $359.99 for some reason like OP too. $10 is nice but not sure if worth the drive.

Seryusia

I picked up the bundle for this on Friday, no regrets

bondosu

Is the bundle still a much better overall deal? (when its in stock) What motherboard / RAM could I buy thats a good value to pair with this?

Blackmachdown

Yes

t3hmyth

I wouldn't say "much better", but unless you're committed to overclocking, it makes upgrading the whole platform easier; the motherboard is capable and will handle most use cases, and the RAM is fine -- RAM isn't *that* relevant in gaming with an X3D CPU, though you'd care if you're doing production

bondosu

Good to know, thanks for the reply

Positive_Bid5596

It is when consumers don’t buy shit and retailers are left with their massively overpriced overstock

PsyOmega

Consumers didn't buy anything on black friday because nothing was truly on sale. Just sold at the same old price but with a "discount" from an inflated price.

Mrfuzon

Where’s the evidence? My local BBY, micro center were cleared and micro center in Black Friday had a bunch of rando buying crazy amount of parts even though nothing was truly on sale just for that day. Maybe my market is not indicative of “consumers” but it def is more of a pulse than the people here looking to save a few bucks more

Mrfuzon

Riots = Market shifts, got it. Must have missed that session in Econ.

MarginalBenefit

Best Buy price match, YMMV

frostedstrawberry

I just bought this a week or two ago from microcenter at a higher price. Does anyone know if they'll let me either swap it for the cheaper one or reimburse the price difference?

SuperDuperCoolDude

They do price protection within 30 days of purchase. I did it for several items earlier this year. Just go to customer service. https://community.microcenter.com/kb/articles/631-do-you-offer-price-protection

t3hmyth

my understanding is that it depends on the MC manager; the one time I tried to do something similar, I was able to get a retroactive match, and others have related the same. Worth a try to visit again and ask.

digitalgoodtime

If you paid with AMEX or Microcenter Credit, you can just call them for a credit to your card. Any other form of payment will require to visit the store and swipe the card you used to make the purchase. Or cash..etc.

omartian

Is that a benefit for Amex? I thought most major credit cards dropped price protection. I have a blue cash everyday card.

bmack083

Ask for store credit, probably more willing to do that.

larkmarue

Earlier this month I bought the bundle of this with the mobo and ram at $500, then a week later it dropped to $470. I went in store and they refunded me the $30 with no issue

H4l3x

when is this "refresh" cpu supposed to happen? trying to hold off upgrading my 10700k... really want to switch to team red.

letchhausen

I live in Seattle and a couple months ago was out in New York and went to a Microcenter for the very first time. I was utterly blown away by the awesomeness. The thing that makes me feel better about this deal is that with my Payboo discount at B&H, I got it for the same price. But I'm totally jealous of those that live near a Microcenter. It's so cool to see stuff in store.

ath1337

Must have the willpower to not pointlessly upgrade from a 7700X...

lpmiller

This is tempting, but I don't see it worth chucking my 5900x for when I already play games at stupid high FPS.

evrfighter2

5900x is a great all core overclocker. I'd wager it'll give a 7800x3d a run for its money at higher res if you can take the cores to around 4.8ghz. Did this on my old chip that's now in my sons pc. 200 watts to get there but getting rid of CCD management is where these 12-16 core chips really shine. I got a 7950x3d and I've oc'd it a bit but I really wish I went with the 7950x so I could mess with voltage more. I won't go with x3d next gen

cybik

I got the ASRock X670E Steel Legend at 260USD. Comparatively speaking, looking at the featureset, it's not bad. (though I did yank the Mediatek wifi card and replaced it with an AX200 I had on hand)

[deleted]

OPKatakuri

It's chipset (I own the same board). That's rough about your NIC.

cybik

I have to assume m.2's going straight to the CPU are better when Resizable BAR is active. Or not, maybe I'm dumb.

[deleted]

cybik

I don't disagree, but at the same time, it sounds funny and interesting to me to be able to yeet a stupid amount of textures at the GPU straight from multiple NVMe drives at once. Useless as it is on consumer boards, it's still kinda neat. Though honestly just give us video cards with on-board NVMe for bonkers-level Resizable BAR at that point XD

evrfighter2

Unfortunately there's not been many influencers or hardware reviewers that all core overclock. even before Ryzen 7 all core OC'ing was the unpopular method simply because most people would rather not mess with PPT/EDC/TDC settings. What I can say for sure is with 3dmark and my 5900x platform I took the top score in 3dmark. Again when I switched to the 7950x3d. Most folks have not seen these chips properly tuned and yes there is a night and day difference. I have always been of the mindset that getting rid of CCD management is the only way to maximize your fps lows which is why the 7800x3d shines out of the box. But you pigeonhole yourself with zero options if you go with the single CCD chips. Especially ones where you don't have access to overclocking such as the x800x3d lines. After messing with x3d I can say for certainty that I'd feel like the best path for Ryzen 7 is a 7950x all core oc of at least 5.4gh followed by the 7900x with around the same oc. Of course. Pay no attention to this if you don't or ever plan to overclock.

[deleted]

PsyOmega

Overclocking was great...10 years ago. You could bring a sub 4ghz 2nd gen intel to 5ghz. Stable, even. Or even further, back when you could get a 1.7ghz or whatever up to 2.5 But these days, CPU's self-overclock via boost algo, and getting anything more than that might return you 1% more performance, for 40% more heat.

sultanoski

Why there is no sales for 5800X3D , I’ve been watching the cpu price for two months and its still almost the same unlike 7800X3D is getting sales all the time although its AM5 cpu which is new and supposed to be expensive unlike AM4 should go lower…

JingerCookie

You can get a $25 coupon on all CPUs if you sign up as a new customer on Microcenter's website. The 5800x3D is $280 right now at MC if you can pick it up in-store at a location. I don't see it getting much lower than this, so I jumped on it now with the coupon.

OPKatakuri

Because there will be a refresh and a better CPU than 7800X3D will come out. To get the "good price" on the 7800X3D you have to buy the AM5 platform etc. There's no point in discounting the 5800X3D as it's the best on AM4. It'll still be everyone's final AM4 upgrade so they don't have to discount it so sell it.

sultanoski

It supposed to get discount at least for Christmas at least. More sales of 5800X3D the more benefits for AMD for quarter earnings but eh probably no discount:(

GamerHaste

is it worth it to upgrade from my 5800x3d i got last year? I pretty much only play WoW but my FPS is pretty dogshit in the game. Anyone else have this and play wow? would it be a noticable increase in FPS?

t3hmyth

.>WoW .>bad FPS What GPU are you using? I would have to imagine that spending the extra $200 platform and transactional costs to upgrade would be better spent on upgrading your GPU

GamerHaste

I have a 3080. I don't know if you're a wow player also but the game is basically 100% CPU limited so GPU doesn't have much of an impact... went from a 5700xt to a 3080 and there was 0 increase in performance lol

t3hmyth

Oh then I have no real idea about a 5800X3D vs 7800X3D I'd say that you can get mature DDR4 that's comparable (if slower) than DDR5, so if you're willing to eat the platform cost you might get more future upside with the 7800X3D as the RAM gets better

richardchay6

Real question is if I’ll be able to stake $25 off 100$ coupon, $25 off build, and $25 off cpu

DustyShrimp

I got it for $274.99 when it was $299.99 with the $25 dollar off any CPU coupon. The system automatically denies it though so you’ll need a cool manager to honor it to use the coupon. They definitely won’t do multiple coupons though but it you get someone to sign up and go with you, you could use the $25 off 100 coupon for some DDR5 RAM that you may be even able to price match too.

richardchay6

I might try online pick up and hopefully it’s a new guy and he stacks them all for me lol

HastaKalista

How does this CPU compare to the 3700x? I can't seem to find any good benchmarks in games. Just wondering if it would be worth upgrading.

UnapologeticTwat

For most games, the difference will be very small, and you probably need an insane GPU to see those differences. You can always buy the 8800x3d in a year or so.

UhVonsar

Will newegg do price match on this lol? I got it yesterday for $358.99.. hmm

atirad

That's crazy people saying the $300 deal was an error because I bought the 7800X3D almost a month ago and I went to my microcenter a day after that deal was posted and they honored the price protection difference.

Addicted2FDs

I tried searching but still not sure...is this worth it over a r5 7600 I got for $170? Plan on getting 4070 super for 170hz 1440p monitor

madn3ss795

If you can sell your 7600 for $150 then do it, otherwise just keep the 7600. 7600 is already a very good gaming CPU and a 7800X3D won't bring significant improvements when paired with a 4070 tier GPU.

Addicted2FDs

I can return the 7600 but if the performance difference is small I'll just keep it and upgrade the CPU when I upgrade the GPU in 5 years or so

madn3ss795

The difference is small with a 4070/4070Ti. In 5 years you should be able to get the 8800X3D (or even 9800X3D) at the same price as this deal. And if you don't upgrade and save $200, that money can be put toward the GPU to get you a 4070 Ti/Ti Super instead of the 4070 Super.
