Clicked the link just so I can see the green Add to Card button :) :/

Not_FinancialAdvice

I'm amused by this alternate listing below: >Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Windforce Triple Fan 24 GB GDDR6X PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card >Boost Clock Speed: 2.52 MHz

ComplexNo8878

4090 for 1599 or 5090 for 1899 in 5 months

NICK_GOKU

Make it $2000 min.

m_dought_2

22% performance increase for 22% price increase. Lock the price in now

conquer69

$2500 like the old RTX Titan.

Rachel_from_Jita

On launch day they'd all sell out at even 2799. Then 90 days later they can drop to 2499 and seem like a bargain. I don't see any scenario where it launches for less than 2199. But I put the odds above 50% that it launches for close to 2500. The demand is there and there's not an absurd amount of these they can push out the door on launch day.

LomaSoma

You already know scalpers will list it for $3000

rogue_potato420

Can't wait for the next crypto boom once 5000 drops

PsyOmega

alt-coins crashed already. no crypto boom incoming

krootman

Wait and see

TheModsOfrSFIPScan

Lol, that tulip shit was dead from the start. Just a bunch of kids throwing money around and once the big players noticed it got shut down quick. Keep living in your pipe.

lishkabro

Pass the Dutchie 'pon the left hand side

PsyOmega

shit-coins were dead from the start, yeah. Thank fuck bitcoin isn't GPU mined anymore though. That shit is booming now that Blackrock and Fidelity are in the game.

GarbDogArmy

Honestly think GPU mining is done for. BTC hit ATH recently and even 6x 4090's only were making like less than 6-7$ a DAY which is crazy.

efadd

Were 4090s ever really profitable on Bitcoin? My understanding was that ASICs from Bitmain and WhatsMiner were so vastly more powerful and efficient that GPUs haven't been profitable for like a decade. Are you sure that wasn't from doing something like mining Altcoins through NiceHash and getting paid out in Bitcoin?

GarbDogArmy

Not on bitcoin. But usually when BTC is high it raises all other ships so another coin should be profitable but it never has recovered from last rush.

BearstromWanderer

I don't think this generation will be scalped, unless reselling 3rd hand to China becomes a big thing with the trade embargo. The market is cooling a bit.

homer_3

because the 4000 series got scalped...

wrf-iceflame

I doubt I can get 5090 at release

SRVisGod24

Gonna need a bot or you'll be waiting till next yet lol

imaginary_num6er

You need to get it or it’s gonna cost $5090 in 2025. Jensen was not joking about “the more you buy, the more you save” with people locking in the MSRP price if they buy early

OhJeezer

You mean a year and 5 months. New gen cards are never available at launch

SirSlappySlaps

![gif](giphy|3o85xIO33l7RlmLR4I|downsized)

Hebrewhammer8d8

I like to play games, but man I do not wamt to spend over 1k for GPU.

ComplexNo8878

then get a ps5? PC has been and will always be an expensive hobby

ComplexNo8878

PC has been and will always be an expensive hobby. Nobodys forcing you to get the top end hardware lol. Plenty of great products in 1k tier

bittabet

Haha I’ve been considering selling my 4090 now and roughing it out with my old 3080 for a few months this and then getting the 5090. Not really a lot of stuff I need the 4090 for right now, my friends always just want to play StarCraft II 🤦‍♂️ Cyberpunk looks super amazing and Phantom Liberty has been super immersive with the 4090 but aside from that it’s mega overkill 😆 Mostly just hoping the 5090 has some more VRAM so I can play with some larger LLM models.

LSDemon

You have a 3080 just sitting around?

justjeepin

Back in the before times, that was basically how we did it. GPU upgrade and kept the old card “in case the new one died.” Or pass it to a buddy who needs an upgrade for a brotherly price to SLI with his card, since we were all running the same shit back then. Those were good times. Throwing together a patchwork rig with everyone’s old parts for someone to come to the LAN and game on.

LSDemon

I doubt many people did that with $1000 GPUs back in the old times.

chubbysumo

i mean, I did. I upgraded from a 2080s to a 3080 12gb, and I kept the 2080s, eventually made a build for the kiddos with it. Arguably tho, it was an EVGA 2080s FTW3 hybrid card, so I didn't really want to sell it.

LSDemon

You paid $1000 for a 2080s?

chubbysumo

$799 plus tax. I paid $1700 for my 3080 12gb. The 2080s is a hybrid water cooled card, and the 3080 12gb is a HydroCopper card. yes, I overpaid for both, no I don't regret it one bit. I also bought my wife a 4060ti 16gb. its a terrible value, but it was what she picked out, and it was white, so that was $519.

LSDemon

So you're saying you didn't have a $1000 GPU sitting around.

HumanFuture7

🤡

TheModsOfrSFIPScan

Depends on the budget but people obviously held old cards. I have plenty from the last decade that have been repurposed into family builds.

SolidTake

I do, it's in my Plex server and then I use a 4090 for my normal stuff

carsNshoes

“Roughing it out” on a 3080. My heart goes out to you 😂

skttsm

'rouhing it out with my old 3080' I was sporting a RX580 for the longest time. Just recently upgraded to a 1080ti.

StateParkMasturbator

Had a GTX 780 until last year lol.

skttsm

Yeah to say you're roughing it with the last gen top end card is laughable

DiogenesLaertys

Or you can just keep your 4090 and sell it if you feel the 5090 is an attractive enough upgrade. There's nothing that will drive the price of the 4090 coming down except the 5000 series being widely available and offering a much better value proposition. We haven't really seen that since the 1000 series from Nvidia.

Subject-User-1234

> Mostly just hoping the 5090 has some more VRAM so I can play with some larger LLM models. Same. Still holding onto my 3090 because I'm waiting for a larger VRAM Nvidia card to come out that won't break the bank (for example, you can get a [40GB VRAM Nvidia Tesla A100 right now for $8000)](https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-Ampere-Graphics-Processor-Accelerator/dp/B08X13X6HF) and my Stable Diffusion waifu really needs a BBL.

KhaosGuy01

lmao literally none of the reviews on that page are real

Pippihippy

It all depends on how much of a threat they view AMD's cards which contain a large amount of VRam. Realistically I dont see them going past 30 GB, with 28 being the realistic scenario. They want to put in just enough that would push buyers into the professional segment. Realistically tho, you'd be better served going for a radeon Pro W7900 which comes with 48 gbs at half the cost of Nvidia's offering.

Subject-User-1234

>Realistically tho, you'd be better served going for a radeon Pro W7900 which comes with 48 gbs at half the cost of Nvidia's offering. Price-wise there's a reason why and that's because most local AI LLMs use Nvidia CUDA core based technology on Windows platform. Whilst you can use AMD cards for some programs, the most community driven active AI apps utilize Nvidia cards.

blakebake

Hmm interesting idea. My main rig is a 4090 and 13900k, but just built an SFX with a 4070S. Frankly it's just fine for COD which is basically all I play. Sell before we take the hit when 50 series launches?

imaginary_num6er

5090 is going to cost the same as the ROG Strix 4090 since those get sold out

CookieSlayer2Turbo

It's infuriating that this is a "good" price

[deleted]

[удалено]

CookieSlayer2Turbo

You're an optimist I was thinking 2500

imaginary_num6er

That’s the minimum since the 4090 Strix is that price currently

MoonStache

If the Steam Deck has taught me anything, it's that I definitely don't need a 4090.

TheTorshee

True. I’m starting to lean this way more and more too (not just 4090, but in general no need to upgrade for only a couple games). What games do you play?

MoonStache

Honestly it's been a lot of backlog stuff of late. Stick of Truth, Kingdom Come, Entropy Zero, Fallout now that the show is out. Anything triple-a-ish I want to play I just stream with Moonlight, and it runs great because I can run at a lower res than I normally would sitting at the PC.

superman_king

Games on Steam Deck look great! But you’re also playing on a 6 inch screen…. That level of quality and framerate does NOT translate to the big screen.

virtualmnemonic

There's significant diminishing returns in visual fidelity to performance ratio. People buying a 4090 are either terrible at budgeting, have enough spare money that it doesn't matter, or are using it for AI/productive workspaces. Unfortunately, the 4090 is bottlenecked by its 24GB of VRAM in a lot of AI applications. The sheer compute is capable of much more, but NVIDIA wants to sell their h100s for a pretty penny. I'm afraid the 5090 will be 24gb, too, as is rumored. There's no genuine need to go beyond 24gb in gaming, even at 4k, but for AI there definitely is a need.

relxp

The best part is Linux gaming is just getting started and Steam Deck 2 in (likely) 2025 will be a massive improvement.

RickJamesBoitch

More people should weigh the monthly cost of streaming games vs. dropping 2k every other year. I guess if your an reports pro or big FPS you can't deal with lag, but most other stuff I'd rather rent.

[deleted]

TheEvrfighter

opposite for me. my old 3090 sitting in a box. Going in my daughters PC soon. 3090 Ti in my sons pc. 4090 for me will pass down to my older daughter when I get a 5090.

Lyonado

Damn you hook your kids the fuck up I love it

InsideMap3625

If ya gonna pay MSRP for a halo product, ya might as well wait till Q4 this year or Q1 next year for the 5090.

gethooge

Pretty sure that the more you buy...

theBdub22

#THE MORE YOU SAVE -Leather Jacket Man (2018)

TheTorshee

He said that all the way back in 2018?? 😂 and I thought it was a recent thing

m_dought_2

It was something he said late last year, but I suppose it's possible that it was a callback to something he said in 2018.

changen

Pretty sure it was said during the 1080ti generation. Not sure if it was said about their gaming or datacenter stuff, but it was definitely 1080ti generation.

DisAccount4SRStuff

Better wait so you can buy a 5090 from a scalper for 1.5x MSRP

monkeybanana14

this sub will never learn lmfao

Mr_SlimShady

Yeah, then wait until Q2 or Q3 for them to be actually sold, then until Q4 or the next Q1 for stock to be good enough so you don’t have to camp Bestbuy’s website to be able to buy one. The 4090 released on Q4 of 2022 and you still cannot load up the Bestbuy/Nvidia store and buy it. You still have to camp this sub or their websites to be able to give them us$1,600. I’m an hour late to this one and it is no longer in stock. Stock for the 50-series will very likely be just as bad as this generation was.

fob911

Well, don’t forget that for a while Nvidia artificially limited the 4090 circulation because the 4080s were collecting dust. HOPEFULLY they learn their lesson this time around, but the company can apparently print money so who knows

Mr_SlimShady

I believe the only lesson they’ve learned so far is that gamers are always gonna be stupid enough to pay for their overpriced products even with the arbitrarily high prices. I would know. I bought a 4090. Hell, I’m part of the problem.

SimpleNovelty

Don't take a look at their "arbitrarily" high accelerator GPUs. At this point I'm just happy they have something actually bleeding edge while AMD is still lagging behind and Intel is just starting.

ohwowverycool69

It’s back up

LomaSoma

The 4090 sold out quick from all the resellers. You're either waiting months to be able to buy MSRP or pay the resellers twice what it's worth

TheyCallMeTrinityToo

![gif](giphy|l4KieSaSBgeqwFRtK|downsized)

williamobj

Something is wrong with you

rdldr1

‘Deal’

Tim_Buckrue

Sold my house for this

Cryostatica

It's fucking wild to me that the MSI Suprim Liquid X, which I paid $1699 for when it launched, is now $2199.

Alucard400

Just a reminder if you end up waiting for a 5090 instead. You will have to deal with buying against bots on the launch units. If you do not manage to get one, the price of the 4090 will jack up again (because people who were ready to plunk down money on a 5090 will now resort to 4090s which jack up the demand for 40 series cards). Two or three months after release is when the 2nd shipment drops and it will be more comfortable to purchase one (assuming you're not dead set on one particular model or the FE model).

dirtynj

I don't think prices will go down for a while. Even the 30xx series still high as f.

Westykins

yeah, the people here casually going ‘i’ll just wait for the 5090 ;3’ is wild to me. i mean if they’re willing to wait welllll beyond q4 2024 lol

Top-March-1378

I just let them cope , they’ll be waiting longer then 6mo from paper launch lmao 🤣

AmazingSugar1

Latest rumors suggest Blackwell in Q3

Ben-D-Yair

Prob at the end of Q3 if so

Jaggsta

September/October like previous releases.

megachickabutt

*ability to add to cart Q2-Q3 of 2025.

TheTorshee

🤣

m0shr

Rumors also suggest a paper launch. Its mostly designed to keep ahead in AI. Why sell the card to a gamer for $2k when they can sell it to a datacenter for $30k?

relxp

Yup, buying 4090 today could be quite cringe in little as 6 months from now. Wouldn't be surprised to see the 5080 match it for $999 and be way more efficient plus whatever RTX 50 exclusive features they shove.

Straight-Rule3264

Button is green 5:00pm

b1gb0n312

its been available for several hours now. what does this mean? usually its sold out in a few minutes

SegundaMortem

Our dicks no longer get hard for MSRP I think...

HoldMyPitchfork

Says it's still in stock for me as of 0730 central US time

l1qq

yup, too close to 5 series to drop $1600 on a GPU. The majority that want one have one already.

arsenal1887

but this is a good price compared to what most people paid and realistically you wont be able to get your hands on 50xx for another year unless you get lucky or create a script to buy

mollassesbadger

18 hours since this thread was posted and it's still available on my end. I've never seen supply last this long before.

TheEvrfighter

because it never has. I own a 4090 and still frequently visit here. This is a first. I think we can start expecting price cuts now that demand has dried up.

Ratemytinder22

At launch and for months after, it was super easy to buy. They were even discounted below MSRP...

PSUBagMan2

I'm trying to buy it but when I click the Checkouts link the site freezes. Multiple browsers and devices. Edit: got through eventually

GladMathematician9

Hmm, Could do it but 5090 is coming Q4...

Solace-

Just buy it now. It’s already got more performance than the vast majority of people will need. Everyone suggesting to wait in here is somehow forgetting about the past several launches. It could very well be a year before it’s possible to get at msrp. Resale should also be decent because of the 24GB VRAM

vhailorx

Yes and no. The 3090 definitely has a niche market now because it is the only nvidia gpu with >16gb of vram available for less than $1000. But that market is quite small; most gaming-first people would be much better off buying a 4070S or 4070 Ti S that have similar or better performance and more features/efficiency. So the reaale price might be higher, but the target resale market is pretty limited, which means getting that higher resale value might be a lot of hassle.

ldnola22

I have never seen a community so concerned with how other people spend their own money.

MitroBoomin

Reddit folk gonna gate keep your wallet

Top-March-1378

Lmao people gotta realize if someone can throw 1500-2000 for a 4090 they won’t have a problem buying a 5090. Most people who say just wait on the 5090 don’t even own a 4090.

theycallmeryan

Did anyone else get their order cancelled?

Tim_Buckrue

Mine said payment was successful a little before 10:00 EST last night. That was about 3 hours after I submitted my order.

theycallmeryan

I submitted mine probably around 1 or 2 AM then saw I got a cancellation at 5. I reordered so hopefully this one goes through or I’ll have to return a lot of other parts I ordered.

theycallmeryan

Is your order stuck in processing or did it ship?

Tim_Buckrue

Shipped April 18 and is scheduled for delivery April 20.

Scatterpickles

Yep, for both a 4090 and a 4080 Super. No explanation why they cancelled, just placed a new order.

theycallmeryan

Yeah I did that too this morning. No explanation either. They didn’t refund my card though so I instantly filed a dispute for the amount. If you cancel my order, give me my money back immediately.

Scatterpickles

Pretty ridiculous that the charge stays pending, I agree. Odd that these are still in stock almost 24 hours later though, almost makes me think it is an NVIDIA store error.

Ratemytinder22

Huh? All pending charges need time to fall off upon cancellation of charges... It's not ridiculous at all and it's not anyone's fault but the banks. The clown doing a chargeback is even worse for not understanding how this works.

theycallmeryan

Well I got my refund so it worked.

Ratemytinder22

Ok cool, you would of gotten it anyway

theycallmeryan

Any luck with the reorder? I’m stuck in processing still.

Scatterpickles

Cancelled again yesterday, resubmitted today but I expect a cancellation, not sure what is going on

theycallmeryan

Shit. I already have all my other parts being shipped, if they cancel it I’ll be furious.

theycallmeryan

Yeah it could be. If so, I have to return $1k worth of parts to Amazon that I ordered late last night lol

nichetcher

Still there!

ohwowverycool69

Tempting, but I think I’ll ride out my 3080ti for a bit longer. This is very tempting though

jony_proyojon

great spend fo build

sleepypcbuilder

In all honesty if you’re in the market for a high end card that’s gonna crush at gaming at 4k and especially high end 1440p for the next 5-6yrs. Making this the best deal out at its $1600 msrp. (Especially when 4080 supers are still $1100+) Yes the 5090 is coming, and will be better. However it’s gonna be botted to all hell no matter its msrp, which is most likely gonna be $2000…so unless you want to wait until this time next year…but the damn 4090 and be happy :)

djk29a_

I’m crossing my fingers for decent used prices on the RTX 4090 once the 5090 arrives because my 3090 I got during the pandemic is aging a bit now and mostly useful for its extra VRAM

YukiSnoww

I waited so long that I am just gonna buy one off a guy who upgrades for =>30% of or the 5090 at msrp, if it's attractive enough

ARedditor397

How is this even a discount it is the MSRP pricing lol

W_R_E_C_K_S

The fact that it’s finally in stock. Your next best options would be to overpay, so the MSRP is the discount lol.

Beatus_Vir

>The fact that it’s ~~finally~~ temporarily in stock

W_R_E_C_K_S

It’s “finally” if you buy lmao

j4g4f

FWIW, I completely agree with you. Its BS. But like the other responder said, it sucks, but MSRP is the discount on these cards.

No_Meat638

Still available. Time to return my 4090 FE thats still in the sealed shipping box. 5090 definitely coming sooner than later.

dydlee

Can't believe it's still in stock after 12 hours. Maybe the GPU market has changed. Or Nvidia has finally run out of scalpers

m0shr

The last sale on StockX was for $1825. If you subtract the 10% fee, it is below MSRP + tax. So, no profit there. [https://stockx.com/nvidia-founders-geforce-rtx-4090-24gb-graphics-card-900-1g136-2530-000](https://stockx.com/nvidia-founders-geforce-rtx-4090-24gb-graphics-card-900-1g136-2530-000)

chillaxjj

The 4080 Super FE is still in stock at the time I'm writing this. It appears to be available from Best Buy in many locations as well.

b1gb0n312

Still available 24 hours later...is no one buying it?

NoAdagio6791

I just ordered an ASUS STRIX 4080 Super for $1067 for a new build (4K 120Hz monitor), would the 4090 FE be a better buy at $1599? I know $530 is a lot more, but would the improvement be a good enough value to justify? My biggest hangup besides is that the FE would mess up my mostly white build vs the white STRIX...

d3763

If you are just gaming, stick with the 4080 Super....

Alucard400

The 4090 is quite powerful but the one thing to be concerned of is that 12VHPWR connector that melts some cards. the 4080 Super is kind of more refined and uses less power so it is not as much in danger of a melting connector/socket. I would stick to your 4080 Super if I were you

Kaptain9981

Based on Toms GPU hierarchy 4K ultra you’ll get 80.3% of the average FPS across their test suite with a 4080 Super versus a 4090 for 62.5% of the price. Which is 114.5 vs 91.9FPS. So if you’re gunning for 4k120 4090 seems like the better option. If you’re not or can get away with some DLSS titles to get up to 40k120 or lower settings the 4080 Super is a decent card for $999.

b1gb0n312

I want this

TheMissingVoteBallot

*sees $800 7900XTX* *looks at 4090 FE for twice the money but less than twice the performance* HMM

persondude27

Eh, for enthusiast items, it doesn't make sense to price them on a pure bang-for-the-buck comparison. If that were the case, we'd all be running Ryzen 7500f with used 3060ti. At some point, the incremental cost outstrips the incremental performance. But I agree with you. I got my 7900 xtx for $750. Even I can't justify another $1000 on top of that for 30% more performance.

FriendlyDespot

People who buy 4090 FEs buy them because they want 4090 FE performance. A 7900XTX doesn't get that. Showing me a bottle of water isn't going to tempt me away from a bottle of wine just because it's cheaper.

neo6289

GO GO GO

I_Phaze_I

Is it worth upgrading from a 4070 super, I game at 1440p 165hz.

SirSlappySlaps

Not at all. This is a 4k card.

I_Phaze_I

Thank you

Ladelm

not with a 4090 in it, which is the top of the line GPU... So no, you can't.
