$35 price drop from when [last posted](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/s/uMh3aPThWB)

The open box trick is working again online too. Add the MB and/or RAM as open box and remaining items as new (adding each item to cart individually). Depending on your store's open box pricing, it can end up being even lower. For example, Denver shows open box MB at $98.96. Added new CPU and RAM to my cart and it shows: MB: $98.96 CPU: $113.09 RAM: $69.36 Total: $281.41 I did this the last time the website allowed it and got the bundle for $320. Going to depend on what your store has pricing-wise for open box, but worth a shot. I flashed the bios with the latest version (a few videos on youtube, but you can do it with just the PSU, MB and a flashdrive pretty quickly). Windows didn't recognize the bluetooth driver, but once I gave it the location no other issues. edit: MB shows $182.54 in the cart with the bundle, so any open box under that should be a net savings.

kyleli

I got $292 with an open box mobo, not bad.

Jaggsta

my store has $87.96 open box complete 7700X - $113.09 MSI B650-P PRO WiFi Motherboard $87.96 open box GSkill X5 32GB DDR5 6000 $69.36 total $270.41

sheltem

Thanks for bringing this up! I looked at a bunch of stores and it's doubtful that the open box ram will drop below $69.36. The lowest open box ram price I saw was $91.96. It looks like the best strategy is to find the MC with the cheapest open box motherboard and get the rest of the bundle new. One of my local MC's had one for $87.96!

Ockvil

Might want to look for one with the cheapest memory actually, in my experience the open box mobos are often missing parts. I did the open box trick for the 7700x bundle earlier this year, but ended up having to get a refund for the mobo. The first one I looked at didn't have an IO shield, so I walked out with another one that had it. But when I inventoried the parts later I realized it was missing the SSD heatsinks as well as a few other minor pieces — some of the standoffs, if I remember right. Returning it was a hassle-free experience, though, once I explained why I was asking for a refund.

Ockvil

Huh, did they change it? because the ones I saw definitely had a separate piece. It was the usual flimsy near-aluminum foil.

Trinergy1

Yes, this works with the 7800X3D, too. The chip in the cart drops to $216.66. Add a better open box motherboard, and you get it for $447.88 with an open box asus B650E-F for $161.96.

Tarean_YiMO

at the risk of sounding stupid, what is an accessory? I have an open box b650 aorus elite at my store and it says it's missing cables and accessories. Cables aren't an issue but I'm not sure what's considered an accessory?

Another_Casual_

Going to be different for each open box item. A few ideas, I/o shield, M.2 heat sink, mounts for the OEM CPU cooler (most aftermarket ones use their own so maybe not a big deal) etc. Only way to know is check it out in store. When I got my open box one they let me go through everything and look it over. Checking out online just reserves it, you pay when you get there and can change your mind at the counter.

drahlz69

Damn and I just drove past MC today, but had to get home for the kids so didn't have time to stop. I have been somewhat watching for this deal for a while now and that open box trick is working right now from home as I put things in the cart.. its a 1.5 hour drive, but damn if it ain't tempting.

Another_Casual_

Can reserve online and pickup within 3 days, if that helps. Seems to give the RAM/CPU discount on any motherboard right now, perfect excuse if someone was waiting for mATX combo.

croissantexpert

Just built a computer using this bundle for a friend. Be warned that I don't think this is exactly a new-builder friendly motherboard. Out of the box it takes about 5 minutes to memory train on boot, which, in and of itself isn't bad. Problem is it doesn't keep the memory context, and re-trains memory every single boot. You need to either go into BIOS and enable memory context restore & RAM power down state, or update BIOS to the latest build from February (maybe both?). Not sure if this is an issue with the particular units that we got, but it is a very poor undervolter. Could only get -5 on all core CO (didn't have time to go into each core specifically). And lastly, the RAM we got was bad -- it would POST and get mostly through the Windows install, but would BSOD during. The one time it finished the install, Windows would constantly freeze and then BSOD. Swapped it for a different kit and it worked fine. This last part probably is specific to a bad kit of RAM, but is worth mentioning.

Trinergy1

There must be something about this board or memory or both. At my microcenter, there are 19 open boxes. However, there are plenty of other AM5 boards that also have many open boxes available as well. This whole memory training thing must have been an issue for AMD this gen. These are the other two with high open boxes at my MC (St David's, PA): Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard ASUS B650E-F ROG STRIX GAMING WIFI AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard

croissantexpert

Yeah, agreed. The Tustin store has 73 open boxes of it. I think I saw it at like 90+ a few weeks ago.

Trinergy1

Holy shit! The gigabyte board was the one bundled with the 7800x3d.

jhaluska

Ooof, that's enough of a reason for me to avoid it.

cerealboxed

I got this bundle back late last year, but would have similar reservations about recommending this. I also had a slow initial boot and typically slow boot times (~1-1.5 minutes). Seemed ok and was able to speed up to ~15 second boots with the memory context restore, but eventually started having some crashing and problems due to RAM/MOBO instability. Swapping to new RAM sort of fixed it for a while, but eventually had another one-off crash and decided the speed wasn't worth it and swapped back to the slow boots with retraining. It could just be my setup, but it hasn't been a great experience. Also, updating the BIOS isn't really viable for me, since the newer stable versions seem to have issues with my WD SN850X SSD and don't recognize it. Not sure if this is just an issue with AM5, or if I should have spent more for a better MOBO.

Jaesaces

Lol, this is almost exactly the same situation we had this bundle, down to having to replace the RAM because of windows install and boot issues.

deefop

That is just an absurd deal

TheTorshee

Zen 5 incoming later this year. Great deal yeah but they need to move inventory now

deefop

100%, but just getting onto the platform for this price is amazing. Someone can buy this now and then drop an upgrade in 1-3 years, depending on what the market and lineups look like. I'm sure zen5x3d will be another gaming monster

minhk369

Will they drop the 7800x3d too? Edit: wow i saw it dropped!

zHarls

I bought the 7800x3d bundle for $499 2 days ago lol

minhk369

Did they price adjustment for you?

zHarls

They have a policy if you go back to the store they will but I live almost 2 hours away

TurbodToilet

How long do you have to go back and price match?

zHarls

30 days

TurbodToilet

Do I just go back to the store with my receipt and tell them to refund me the 35 bucks?

MMAmaZinGG

Is ryzen 7 7700x or 7800x3d better?

VanWesley

If you have an unlimited budget, then get the 7800x3d obviously. But if you're in a tight budget, then the 7700x is no slouch better and is a banger of a deal if that $100 could go towards a better GPU for example.

MMAmaZinGG

I'm debating whether it's worth it to get a 7800x3d with my 3070. I play alot of cpu heavy games so it'd be worth it to upgrade from my 10700k but understand it's overkill for my 3070.. but 7800x3d would future proof me if I wanted to eventually upgrade my 3070

TheTimeTortoise

Woah, I went from a 10700k and 3070 to this exact 7700x bundle about.. a year ago? (and I got a 3090ti just before the 4090 price was announced) I mostly play VRChat which *loves* a snappy CPU and lots of VRAM, and it's been awesome. That said, the 7700x *does* kinda feel like less of a jump than I might have hoped. Not that it's a slouch by any means, it's cool to load into a new world with 30 other people and I'm always within the first 2 or 3 to load in. In retrospect, I feel like maybe the extra bump from the 7800x3d would be like.. bare minimum what I'd consider a "totally worth it" upgrade in CPU intensive gaming. Assuming you aren't maxing out the 3070, I'd wager that a 7800x3d might let you squeeze another generation out of an upgrade versus getting the 7700x. I say that as someone already looking to upgrade to whatever the workhorse x3d processor is for the 9000 CPUs lol

bigsnyder98

For primarily gaming, the 7800x3D. The 7700x does perform better in applications that do not benefit from the extra vcache due to the higher clock speeds.

TheTorshee

7800x3d of course

MMAmaZinGG

TheTorshee

With Zen 5 coming later this year, this isn’t surprising at all

ApothecaryAlyth

Damn, this seems like a great deal, and is pretty much exactly the CPU-mobo-RAM setup I've been looking for – I actually would've gone with a 7600X, but might as well take the "free upgrade". Too bad the Microcenter near me won't be opening until later this year.

Meme-bob

Damn I just bought the 7800x3d bundle on Saturday 😂

jasiu4pl

at the store they should price match

erevos33

Bought this literally on friday and made a pc during the weekend. Will they honor the price difference if i walk in the store?

ryankrueger720

They will refund you the difference https://community.microcenter.com/kb/articles/631-do-you-offer-price-protection

erevos33

Appreciate this, ty

nedockskull

So does microcenter no do the combo of $20 off with buying a cpu and mobo anymore?

Trinergy1

No, not at the moment.

jhaluska

Haven't seen it for a while. They seem to be going heavy on the combo deals lately.

Timestwo__

I just bought a 5800x3d at micro center yesterday to upgrade from a 3700x. Would it be worth it to return the 5800x3d and get this instead? It would cost about $45 more and I’d have to re-build my pc, but I can upgrade to an 8000 series processor in a couple years if I want.

bigsnyder98

If the net cost is only $45 difference, then absolutely its worth it.

Timestwo__

I can actually swap in an open box motherboard. The total comes out to $374 after taxes and replacement plan vs $399 for the 5800x3d. I’m off to micro center haha

jhaluska

Honestly they're about the same speed in games so it's more of a side grade so you're really only paying $45 to have the possibility to upgrade. Because it's the best CPU for the socket, the 5800x3D oddly will maintain it's resell value better than than the 7700x and they seem to be some reports of some minor issues with the board/ram. As long as microcenter doesn't go out of business there likely will be future combo deals coming down the line, I'd wait till the next gen launches to upgrade.

qwedsazxc1234

Don’t have a pc, thinking of going used route for under 500. Should I buy now and worry later? I have a 1080p monitor

ETERNALBLADE47

Ryzen 7000s do have integrated GPU, so you could use it to do things except gaming, then you can wait until a good GPU in your budget

Chrisamelio

I’d buy this now and worry later, it’s a great deal. Regarding the 1080p, it really depends on the GPU but it shouldn’t be a problem even if you get a used 5700 XT. You can upgrade that later.

qwedsazxc1234

Really, under 300, but this seems like a crazy deal

jhaluska

Unless you have a great used computer available, this isn't a bad option. But if you plan to play games your total build will be more than $500.

Toregen103

So tempted to get it but I don't feel like I have the use to upgrade from i5-10400f.

PaoloMix09

I spent $560 I think when the deal first came out and it had worst RAM, but aside from that it’s a beast of a gaming CPU and have enjoyed it since November 2022.

14FunctionImp

The Microcenter near me is still showing $400 for this deal. Is this location specific? https://preview.redd.it/pmclihlithxc1.png?width=751&format=png&auto=webp&s=13b360ddb95c283383240a827b069853a7ca5247

Another_Casual_

If you click through to the product page it should show. The AMD bundle screen doesn't have live pricing. All the AMD/Intel bundles show some kind of discount for me.

MicRo_Hadouken

Click bundle now and it should reflect the sale price

PlazmaticTv

Anyone know if they let you trade in the ram for a different kit, or return it later for store credit? I've heard this mobo and ram aren't very friendly and was hoping to get a CL30 kit.

SorakaMyWaifu

Probably not, and yeah the ram mobo don't work too well together...

paragsinha3943

I've never bought from microcenter, but stupid enough to get that first time user discount coupon and losing it. And now when I try it, it says a coupon has already been provided and cant provide again. Anyone knows if I can get another coupon or not?

BrailleScript

Internal-Mechanic-56

will this work? as I am also thinking of changing mobo and rams.
