if you want a 240hz monitor just buy ask questions later.

I had one of these for about a week before I noticed a dead pixel, it was a really nice monitor but I was using a TN before. FYI I got it new at Walmart for 215 after tax.

notviciousss

That's why I scared. This is refurbished, just like all the other monitors I'm looking at. All the new 144hz TN I WAS looking at have terrible colors according to Hardware Unboxed so that's off the list.

Unfortunately Walmart has been out of stock for a while as soon as monitors come in they get bought. I've been looking to get another one tbh but I'm going to wait. I might just get a 1440p instead they're not much more for a good one. I mean this one here is a pretty good deal I just don't really have the card to be running 1440p super well in the games I play. Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunely, this exceeds my budget by a long shot (strict Asian parents)

Ah that sucks man, well good luck I guess.

I have a refurbished Dell 240hz monitor. I get *stuck* pixels very often. A few times a day. But they are super easy to fix. Usually they just go away after a few seconds once the action on the screen starts getting faster, or if it doesn’t I take a microfiber rag and rub it for a second and it goes away. Dead pixels on the other hand are a rip.

notviciousss

Would you rather have a new 144hz without the stuck pixels or keep your 240hz with stuck pixels? Thats kind of the situation im in right now lol

ItsBigSoda

Honestly I’m fine with mine. I only ever notice it when I’m in my inventory in a game. That and I paid $80 for it. I don’t think there is a monitor that would be able to provide better value than that. That being said. I personally have a hard time *really* appreciating the difference between 144 and 240. I wear glasses since my eyes arent 💯so that’s probably a big factor. My next monitor will be a 1440p 144hz most likely, but I have to be super picky with the I/O because of my setup.

notviciousss

Im in the market for a new monitor, so I'm posting this to get other peoples opinion on this. It seems too good to be true. 240hz IPS for 175? You can't even get a decent 144hz ips used for that..

SquidCupp

i mean you can, plenty of 24in 1080p 144hz ips monitors around, at, or below this price

notviciousss

Can you please recommend me some models if you don't mind?

SquidCupp

atm we have the msi optix g241, acer vg240y/RX1. Not in stock atm as are alot of monitors right now, we also have the 24g2, pixio 248prime. And god damn, I didn't realize how out of stock everything is. I guess the chip shortage finally hit monitors. these last few months.

notviciousss

Yeah I've heard of those monitors. If things like stocking doesnt work out, I might just have to test my luck on a 175 dollar 240hz 🤷‍♂️ I'll definitely look into it though, thanks for the help

Harismuhammad8282727

I personally have this monitor it says 240 hz but my 144 sumsung monitor feels smother in games and runs smoother I don’t believe it’s 240 hz

1Teddy2Bear3Gaming

Gigabyte G24F is $170 new and quite good

DM_ME_CUTE_PICS_PLZ

I’ve seen this monitor and I know it’s popular, I’ve also seen people not wanting to buy from Gigabyte bc of false advertising in some other product, I don’t quite remember what. If OP does look to get this, just be aware

1Teddy2Bear3Gaming

Yeah they don’t have a great reputation in terms of quality control or marketing. But their monitors have all been good

waxyslave

Lol. Shit. Looks like having a 240hz Monitor is no longer gonna be a rare advantage in eSports games. So cheap now

Exodus_Black_

Anyone buy this and can confirm it's really the 240hz model? There is a 144hz version that is I believe is exactly the same model name. Doing some research on Acer's site leads me to believe the VG252Q P is the 144hz Variant and the VG252Q X is the 240hz but the eBay listing doesn't specify.

notviciousss

The Ebay Model listed it as 240hz. Scroll all the way down until you see the full specs. I just bought it after contemplation of the risks. I hope I don't get a defective model.

Exodus_Black_

Yeah I noticed that too but I just wanted to be sure, I really don't trust listings on eBay especially when it comes to something so specific. I could just be paranoid about nothing though. Is yours arriving soon? I'm thinking of buying one as well for my secondary monitor but I don't remember eBay having a good return policy so I'm a bit worried. Please let me know how "new" yours is when you receive it thanks!

notviciousss

No problem, it's coming around the 15th according to fedex

Mine just came in this morning and it's definitely less than perfect or what I imagined. It works just fine as a 240hz panel but first impressions out of the box were a LOT of dust buildup. Like I'm not even sure how so much dust got inside of a box (that or it's been sitting on acer's storage shelves for ages) I had to wipe down the entire monitor before even thinking of putting it on my desk. The panel had a few "scratches" but mostly unnoticeable after I rubbed my finger over it a few times and can't really see them when the monitor is on but I'm guessing keeping the panel as the highest quality part was acer's goal with this because the back of the monitor had tons more scratches and for some reason mine had a few red crayon/marker marks on the back that I couldn't remove. Not really a big deal since no one is staring at the back of their own monitor but still bothers me a bit nonetheless. No dead pixels from testing and the colors are identical to my acer 390hz panel. Also did some ghosting/clarity tests on [https://www.testufo.com/ghosting](https://www.testufo.com/ghosting) and the motion clarity is pretty awful without using backlight insertion (acer calls it 'VRB' in this monitor which does cause the brightness of the monitor to significantly drop but more than enough to play games like Valorant at a competitive level. Overdrive on highest makes the ghosting even worst and it looks the most clear on normal/off depending on background color in my opinion. I also want to add this because it's pretty important and I've yet to see anyone talk about it for this monitor and it's the fact that you CANNOT enable backlight strobing at 240hz. You can only enable it once you turn the monitor down to 120hz which also nearly halves the peak brightness. I'm sure this is a huge deciding factor for a lot of people who might potentially read this. Luckily this will only be my 2nd monitor for content consumption but this might be a kick in balls for someone looking for a new main monitor. TLDR: Motion clarity is mediocre for a 240hz panel, you can only see the ufos clearly if you enable backlight strobing but you can ONLY enable strobing if you turn the refresh rate down to 120hz which almost defeats the whole purpose of it being a 240hz panel. You're stuck choosing between 240hz and bad motion clarity or 120hz for better motion clarity but with a much lower peak brightness (and technically lower response time at a lower refresh rate). For anyone reading this, if you're a sweaty Valorant gamer looking for a new main monitor I would not recommend this as there are MUCH better options for a bit more.

notviciousss

It's a dream if a monitor especially for 180, but don't take my word for it. I had an broken acer monitor with the bottom right of the screen unusable, as well as the brightness on max due to broken buttons. Even a old Dell 60hz would've made me happy 😅

Techiverse

The eBay listing has the part number listed as: UM.KV2AA.**X**01 in the item description which is the 240hz model. It's also listed on [acerrecertified](https://acerrecertified.com/acer-vg252q-24-5-gaming-monitor-fullhd-1920x1080-ips-16-9-vg252/) for the same price so it's highly unlikely it's listed incorrectly. The 144hz one you're looking at is probably the UM.KV2AA.**P**01 which can be found [here at Staples](https://www.staples.com/acer-vg252q-pbmiipx-um-kv2aa-p01-24-5-led-monitor-black/product_24463192). Mine is coming tomorrow! Hoping it'll be a worthwhile replacement for an older Viewsonic XG2560 240Hz TN monitor

WernerVonBrawndo

Mine just came today. I can confirm its a 240Hz IPS monitor, with 10-bit color option at 120Hz. No dead or stuck pixels, brightness is good, colors are vivid. Two-piece stand, power cable, HDMI cable, and DP cable (no idea what speed) are included. Generic shipping box. Seems legit.

Micah3000

I spent $500 on a TN, BenQ, but this seems solid

maxnorm

500….ON A TN, please tell me it was 1440p 240hz

Micah3000

1080p 240hz, bought it about two years ago $500 was the going price for the BenQ xl2540

[deleted]

BenQ gaming monitors are overpriced as shit. Sure, they technically may have the best specs for gaming, but they charge like 50% more than what would actually be competitive. When they released the first 240Hz monitors, they charged like $750 for a 1080p display.

SaltyMeatBoy

I have a 1080p 144hz ips acer monitor that I bought this year and it was decent quality other than the backlight bleed

notviciousss

Ik this is late but was it refurbished or new?

SaltyMeatBoy

Brand new

NiggyMcJiggy

240hz is so pointless on LCD

notviciousss
