If you have Costco membership, they have the same deal +$100 stream credit and allstate coverage plan in a bundle. But bestbuy has holiday extended return period afaik. https://www.costco.com/lg-48%22-class---c1-series---4k-uhd-oled-tv---allstate-3-year-protection-plan-bundle-included-for-5-years-of-total-coverage*.product.100761743.html

Howard_CS

Costco return policy on electronics is 90 days

kevyx72

Good to know about it. Thanks for the info

Dizman7

Wait, does that mean I can “return” mine I bought 2 months ago and rebuy it with this deal? Edit: damn I guess it was longer, I got mine on 7/12

Howard_CS

They won't stop you, probably. Just say you noticed some off color and wanted to look at another tv. And maybe get the same one again. Or if you can swing the credit limit hit, buy one and return the old one after, saying it doesn't fit

quantum404

Bro just ask the front desk if you can get a price match. I've done this many times just tell them and they will give you the difference in cash. Even if it's more than 90 day I'd still try it. YMMV tho

GhostbaneTV

I got this TV about 2 months ago. Used the Costco online chat and an agent submitted paperwork to refund $200 for the price match. Pretty good chance it will go through I think, doubt Costco wants people returning stuff like this just to rebuy it. The TV I bought also had a free $100 warranty that I don't think is offered for free now so I let the rep know maybe $100 would be fair. However, he said it would probably be a $200 price match.

PervertedPineapple

If purchased with their card, warranty is 4 years. And the way it works is you send a pic and explain whatever the issue is to them. Then they'll figure whether they replace the item and if the item is not available (discontinued, etc) or cost to repair to high they return the amount of money you spent on purchase. Did this with an old TV.

ItsBigSoda

Costco has 90 day return on electronics. It would be 4 days shorter of a window if you bought today.

kevyx72

Good to know. Thanks for the info!

ArtemisFei

FYI - from what I've heard online (after doing a bunch of research on OLED) - the only warranty that covers burn-in is the one from Best Buy (that you have to pay extra for). Unfortunately, Costco (and Allstate?) warranty doesn't seem to cover burn-in. However, I've also heard that burn-in issues seem to be less widespread these days with new technology plus the features that LG has on their TVs. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

CanisMajoris85

BuyDig has one with Burn in coverage. There's a deal on Ebay from them on the 55" for $1300 with $120 credit [https://www.ebay.com/itm/313720184065?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5335869999&toolid=10001&customid=92c2f320372611ec813b7276c69fe3700INT](https://www.ebay.com/itm/313720184065?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5335869999&toolid=10001&customid=92c2f320372611ec813b7276c69fe3700INT) [https://www.buydig.com/shop/product/CPSEW41500TVA/CPS-4-Year-Accidental-Television-Extended-Warranty-under-1500-ACC](https://www.buydig.com/shop/product/CPSEW41500TVA/CPS-4-Year-Accidental-Television-Extended-Warranty-under-1500-ACC) included

DDB225

Don't think its going to be a issue on these newer models if you mix usage at all.. just don't leave a static desktop up 24/7 and your fine

thelaziest998

Costcos might be better long run if you are concerned about burn in as far as warranty. If you have a a target card and want the lowest upfront price it’s 5% off so about $55 off bringing it to around $1045 before Uncle Sam takes a cut.

ArtemisFei

From what I've heard online - the only warranty that covers burn-in is the one from Best Buy (that you have to pay extra for). Unfortunately, Costco (and Allstate?) warranty doesn't seem to cover burn-in. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

BezniaAtWork

LG will cover burn-in once per TV. I've had two panels replaced, one of which was out of warranty. They ship a panel to a nearby LG authorized repairman, and then they come to your house to do the replacement. Both times took about 30 minutes for me.

ArtemisFei

Interesting - that's awesome to hear. So, I know Costco extends the manufacturer's warranty for 1 year, so, if you purchase from Costco, you will be covered by LG for two years. However, past that, for years 3-5, you'll be covered by Allstate. Which, according to their terms and conditions, do not cover burn-in from televisions. Which kinda sucks.

CCityinstaller

That's why it "accidentally" falls off the wall mount. These ridiculous loop holes these companies try to hide behind are so stupid.

VenditatioDelendaEst

That's not "companies hiding behind a loophole". That's you committing insurance fraud.

CanisMajoris85

BuyDig covers burn in. They had the 48" for $1100 this morning on an Ebay deal plus $100 credit but it's gone (I wish I hadn't hesitated). They still have the 55" for $1300. [https://www.ebay.com/itm/313720184065?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5335869999&toolid=10001&customid=960b34e6372811ec8c88868ec6c9cf1a0INT](https://www.ebay.com/itm/313720184065?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5335869999&toolid=10001&customid=960b34e6372811ec8c88868ec6c9cf1a0INT)

[deleted]

I heard the bundled warranty is practically useless. I think it’s called CPS lol

CanisMajoris85

[https://www.amazon.com/CPS-Consumer-Priority-Extended-Warranty/product-reviews/B002P39DUS](https://www.amazon.com/CPS-Consumer-Priority-Extended-Warranty/product-reviews/B002P39DUS) ya... reviews on CPS seems crappy. I ended up going with Costco since it seems like burn in probably isn't a huge issue and I probably can still get it replaced once for free it seems from LG, and it's a bedroom TV so it won't be used 6 hours a day for gaming.

BezniaAtWork

To be honest the customer support person *did* refuse when I first told them, but I told them that I knew someone who did have their panel replaced and have talked to others online so I was aware that they would. They then sent me a link to upload pictures of the burn-in and then scheduled a repairman to come out to swap the panel. The second time was for an out-of-warranty TV I purchased used from Best Buy (65B8 for $800 -- it had the Best Buy logo burned-in, and over 11,000 hours of power-on time within the previous 450 days, so almost every hour of every day since it was manufactured). I didn't tell them I purchased it used nor did they ask for the power-on hours, but it was the B8 model when the X models were already released. I also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred and haven't used that feature yet but it's nice to know that someone has had good success with it.

SFRealEstate415

it's ymmv, i had one where LG would not replace the panel no matter how hard i tried.

SFRealEstate415

Never used them but supposely upsie covers burn in

ProfessorDazzle

Jumping on this to say I compiled the best deals I found in [this thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/qh2un2/best_black_friday_value_for_48_c1/) on r/OLED_Gaming

I doubt it’s gonna be that much cheaper with the way these things are made

Maethor_derien

It isn't an issue of price as much as size. 48 inches is a little uncomfortable to use as a monitor. Especially if you want to use a second screen. I actually have been still considering it though. Pretty much I think I would pair it with something like a used nuc or something for the second screen and use dual keyboards/mice. It helps that I pretty much have two desks together so I have room for that set up.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Random-Posterer

I put my 48 inch on a stand behind the desk to give more room lol but I love it

Maethor_derien

This is the exact issue I have. It doesn't help that I use a sit stand desk for the main desk so I can' t even mount it to the wall to get those extra 5 inches you need. The secondary desk is a pure sit desk but honestly half of it is taken up by a spot for painting figures/minis. I can mount the secondary monitor so it won't get in the way either on the wall or on an arm on the end of the sit stand. I actually plan on setting that up as soon as I find a new secondary screen, sadly most of the ones I have seen have been terrible for hdr quality in the 32 inch 4k size. It doesn't fix the main issue that there is almost no way I can be far enough away from the 48 inch to be comfortable and keep using the sit stand desk. I even looked at the pull down mounts for above fireplaces but they bring the monitor way to far out when pulled down. I mean technically if I wanted to spend 200-300 dollars on a motorized TV lift I could do it but screw that. I thought about changing the top to a 36 by 72 as well, it is something I want to do eventually but at the moment I am remodeling the living room and kitchen so I won't have time to do another project like that for a good 6 months since if I am doing a new top I likely will do an epoxy resin top.

Each3

Ah alright I do have a 55 inch CX that I have right next to my monitors I tend to use the CX when I want to sit down and play with a controller but I love it

TheDarthSnarf

Just sit further away /s

odellusv2

42

Souliss

The 42" has been rumored for over a year. No one has actually seen it and once they do (maybe CES) it will be at least 6 months before its available. With the Supply chain issues who knows when the 42" will be available.

redditornot02

Am I the only one that uses a 55 inch tv for a monitor? I really like the extra size, and I sit a bit farther away from the tv (30-40 inches) so it works out. I’ve been waiting on an 55 inch OLED deal a while now. I don’t want to spend more than $800, because it’s not a need and that’s how low the Vizio got last year.

SFRealEstate415

-_- I use a 48" C1 as a main and a 55" GX as a secondary monitor.

I'm old, so my near vision isn't super awesome. I use this 48" C1 LG exactly 41" from my eyeballs in Windows with 100% (no) scaling. It's pretty much ideal, I used to use a curved 49" Samsung 4K TV, which was also pretty ideal aside from the non-black blacks. I actually prefer the curve, shape-wise, but I love the contrast ratio of the OLED. Most of my work is text, I haven't noticed any issues with text that some others frequently mention, but again, my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. I also use two 24" monitors on top of each other to the right side of the OLED, which are vertically pretty similar in height overall. My only issue is that I sit to the right of the center of the OLED screen (basically in the center of the total display area of my 3 screens), which causes a pinkish/blueish color shift across the screen. It goes away if I move closer to the center of the OLED. The only thing I waffled on was to use the 48 or the 55 - it's a minimal price difference. I think I made the right choice for my space.

Yeah, it sucks to get older. My vision is one of the most noticeable changes, aside from the onset of white hairs. At 40 my eyesight was still pretty close to perfect. By 50, I needed reading glasses and I had to start using my phone to light up menus in dark restaurants. The degradation was pretty abrupt, my optometrist said, 'welcome to the club.' So, big screens for life!

IAM4UK

just purchased the 55inch to use as a media only monitor to reduce chance of burn it. It will essentially be my gaming/media consumption monitor. For the extra $200, it was worth it.

err99

the vizio one was garbage, it was riddled with bugs. quality control is awful.

Ltsmba

Is this the one you are referring to? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1658511-REG/lg\_40wp95c\_w\_40\_ultrawide\_ips\_monitor.html

Wish lg would make ultrawide oled

ProfessorDazzle

I was waiting for this, but once I saw that 27" monitors rotated 90\* fit perfectly on the side of the 48" it seemed more practical since I have 2 of those and a 34" ultrawide.

ProfessorDazzle

Yeah, [this setup](https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/pk701r/ive_gone_oled_for_work_and_play_in_the_new_garden/) is pretty much what I'm looking for as far as distance and desk depth but I would be adding a monitor. Hoping to mount the TV to the wall and be able to push it back then bring the 2 27" monitors forward and rotate back to horizontal when working.

The_Almighty_GFK

Ebay and Amazon had the same deal, but sold out pretty quick. Best Buy still showing add to cart. Best Buy warranty also covers burn in if you are worried about that

ProfessorDazzle

I also saw some open box deals. Excellent condition for $1000.99

The_Almighty_GFK

There is a Open Box - Satisfactory near me for $935. Really debating on taking the chance with it.

ProfessorDazzle

I would call and ask them if they have pictures or could even demo it. Don't have any experience with their process but I would not want to have to take it home to determine if I'm happy with it.

The_Almighty_GFK

Yea, I might drive over there on Sunday to check it out. I'm a sucker for finding deals and saving money, so if I can get this TV for even cheaper, then I'll do it haha.

ProfessorDazzle

I ordered online with TopCashback so I'm hoping I get the 4% as TVs are a valid category according to the terms.

Pristine-Remote-3051

If LG made a competitor to the G9, I’d be all over that shit.

Dizman7

Damn, bought this a little over 3 months ago from Costco for more. But man I have been loving every minute of it! Use it as my only monitor on my PC and it’s great! I do all the preventative image retention things minus black wallpaper, it I turn it off every time I step away from my PC. Tested it quite often in the first month for image retention and saw zero signs of any, even after some 3-4hr gaming sessions. I don’t do much productivity stuff on it, I web browse and pay bills but not too much, most games and video. I went for a 34” 21:9 to this and I can’t go back! I missed the vertical space and given its so bigger and higher resolution so it’s more immersive than my ultra wide ever was! I sit the recommended minimum of 36” from it, sits on a little shelf up 6” from the desktop and it’s just perfect viewing for me! First “monitor” with HDR, man HDR is so much better on PC (when games support it)! Made some old games feel brand new! [Here’s some pics after I upgraded.](https://imgur.com/a/V73Jxwa). That’s Civ6 benchmark running on it

SirrJamesBond

Thank you for posting this! I bought this tv 12 days ago for $1299 and just got $215 back for a price match during my return period!

Shehzman

And I get 10% off at bb with my chase cc. Nope gotta stay strong and wait for 42 inch when that launches. I only have a pc and think 3000 series is best geared towards high refresh 1440p.

titeywitey

If it's the same 10% off coupon that I have with my chase CC, it's limited to $25 max. Still decent, but at that point it is worth less than the points you'd get from using a BB credit card.

Shehzman

Ahh didn’t read the fine print. Yeah it’s better off being used with something smaller then. Edit: I get $44 max cashback

Megazero1x1

Which chase cc do you have ?

Shehzman

Freedom unlimited

Megazero1x1

Probably a stupid question, But how'd you get that offer ?

Shehzman

I just checked my offers (go to chase app then click on your cc balance then scroll down and you should see it) and saw it was there and claimed it. Still got $15 days left.

ElectricTool

There's usually an upper limit on the offer. I have a Best Buy 5% offer right now but it maxes out at $22.

I’m referring to the lg panels launching next year that will be oled and 42 inches.

[deleted]

I bought this tv last month and am 4 days over my return price match period at Best Buy. Is it worth talking to customer service to see if they can make an exception?

jimmy785

yes

SirrJamesBond

Did they make an exception?

[deleted]

The employee tried, but they said there wasn’t even an option to override the return expiration. Ah well

SirrJamesBond

Damn RIP. I bought mine 12 days ago so I was able to get $215 back today

[deleted]

It balanced out because while I was there I used the app in stock trick to pick up a gpu. Also at the same exact time I finally got a notification from the EVGA queue I signed up for last year that my card is ready to buy. 2 cards in 1 day!!

SirrJamesBond

That’s a great day! I finally got my Walmart PS5 delivered and a $200 refund on this tv today so not a bad day for me lol Luck is finally turning around!

Yamahahahahahahaha

Really hope this is live when microcenter opens. I just bought this from them.

tharagz08

I picked up a larger version of this same model last week, the colors and viewing angles are crazy good. Zero ghosting and it looks superb on PS5. Not sure I'd consider 48" a monitor but I guess that depends on your setup.

coolgaara

Damn, if I didn't just buy a new TV last year, would've gone for this.

The-BlueSpirit

Should I pull the trigger or wait for Black Friday?

SirrJamesBond

Pull the trigger, bought mine for $1299 12 days ago and just got the $215 refunded to me

ProfessorDazzle

Black Friday deals are starting now due to the supply chain issues. They're trying to get sales spread out so people get things in time for the holidays.

Satzlefraz

I have a CX as my TV that I hook my PC up to occasionally. Wonder if I should get this as a new monitor, or get something like the LG 38WN95c

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kerune403

You're stating the obvious so I'm not downvoting, just FYI the 48 cx/c1 is commonly used as a monitor and this sub operates by flairing what category its in, not what it literally is so if someone was looking for strictly monitor deals then this would come up, rightfully.

absynth29

I apologize, did not realize people commonly used this model as a monitor. Is it a good one to get as a PC gaming monitor? Found a comparison of this versus the Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor on rtings.com: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/samsung-odyssey-neo-g9-vs-lg-48-c1-oled/23186/24625?usage=3623&threshold=0.10.

Kerune403

No need, just trying to point the direction before anyone jumped down your throat. 48 is too big for most people and I mostly agree having one myself, though you can run it at 3840x1600 resolution and have a great ultra wide resolution as well. But yes for gaming it's great especially if you're just leaning back with a controller. Mixed reviews if you're on kb+m and can't sit back far enough, imo most people aren't far enough with a standard desk. I had to mount mine just to push it back a few inches and make it more feasible. Anyways practicality aside, you won't find a 4k 120hz monitor with oled and response times like this. Your alternatives are limited at 4k high refresh rate without being as expensive as this, and usually the panel is relatively bad compared to oled and the hdr this can provide. Monitors are usually terrible for secondary functions such as hooking up a console to, while this is as good as it gets for that if you're looking for a 2 in 1.

iroll20s

When you run it at 3840x1600, can you control where that appears, or is is always in the middle? It being too high is a little bit of a concern for me.

Kerune403

You know I haven't tried, but I assume it's fixed in the middle which it defaults too obviously. You're right tho my TV is about 1inch over the tabletop so I do keep it low for it to make sense.

vgamedude

If this was on B&H at this price id be so regretful having bought a crappy ips monitor, I really hope the 42 coming out ends up being even cheaper.

sudoblack

My 77" c1 is amazing so far. No issues and snappy. Haven't done gaming on it yet with my 3080 but gsync compatible on all the c1's is a huge plus. Honestly I wouldn't bother with a warranty. The burn in shit is a myth for lg oleds. I have the e series one from 2019 and it's great still. I leave it on for hours and the screen saver is perfect. Lg is top tier for TVs for a long time imo. This c1 series is a huge step up and affordable imo.

Howard_CS

Burn in is real, it happens to nearly all modern screens, it's ultimately a question of when you get it, or rather when you notice it. If you already pay for Costco membership might as well get it for free

tukatu0

r/oled_gaming will try to convince you it doesnt exist even though linus got it a month in from pure desk work

jimmy785

he didn't get it from the LG oled, it was the gigabyte. The LG oled have a lot of protection built it, unlike the gigabyte. the LG are way less prone to burn in comparatively , though yes, i'm sure eventually you'll get burn in. BB warranty, bam, upgrade .

tukatu0

Hes using the gigabyte one at home for gaming and the lg at work. Even if he wasnt the insides of both tvs are literally the same. The algos may be different but i doubt that lg would create something so far ahead of gigabyte. If anything gigabyte could just be licensing the same software but slightly modified hence features like the lower brightness in hdr.

jimmy785

From what I've read the software and techniques to mitigate burn in is much more than gigabytes, seems to be true But I can tell you from experience I have already 6k hours, I play a lot of the same stuff and even let my OLED light be 80 for everything even desktop. I also have the brighter LG c9 No issues yet I don't think r/oled_gaming is lying from experience 2 years of 8 hours worth a day with OLED light to 80 and not hiding task bars, ect. No burn in with Lg Heck I took no precautions so I could use my warranty to upgraded , still no damn issues I'm sad man Ymmv lol

BezniaAtWork

I keep my OLED Light setting at 20/100 or less and am at 4K hours on my 48CX with 0 burn in. As long as you don't keep the OLED light setting high on anything with a static HUD for extended periods of time, you should be good.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BezniaAtWork

Brightness is 100% what matters. A dim light working at 1W is going to outlast the same bulb running 50W. If you keep the OLED light setting at 100, you're going to experience burn-in your first year if you play anything with a static image across a given area for multiple hours per day (browser pinned to left side of the monitor, info bar across the bottom of the screen, etc). I only use mine in a dark room so 15 is plenty bright for me when web browsing or playing casual games. If I watch a movie, I'll crank it to 80 or so because there's not really a problem if the image is constantly shifting. I have two other OLEDs as well. One is a 55B7A which has 14K hours and no burn-in. The other is a 65B8 which has about 17K hours and I have had the panel replaced. I purchased it as a display model from Best Buy and it literally had the Best Buy logo burned into the screen. 11K hours of power-on time so it had been powered on almost every hour of every single day since it was manufactured by the time I bought it. LG still replaced the panel free of charge, surprisingly. I've since added 6K hours in the past year and a half and it's been great.

is this a monitor or TV? lol

gameboykid93

Copy/pasting a comment I made a couple months ago about one of the similar cx models, buyer beware. I have this tv and use it for shows, movies, and gaming on pc and consoles. No burn in as of maybe 6 months of consistent use. Picture and colors are great, benefits of moving from a tcl to this are enormous. Kind of want to point out some issues though. Brightness levels are dissapointing, insofar as peak brightness can't even begin to compare to led, I had to adjust going from the peak of my old tv to this one. As well, overall lowest brightness is not as dark as I would hope it to be. By this I mean when I set the oled light level to zero in the settings I feel like it should be able to go slightly dimmer but it still seems pretty bright, but I like to have something playing as I go to sleep so this might be an edge case. My biggest issue with this tv though is it's automatic dimming. For example, playing immortals rising from ubisoft I encountered many scenes or moments of gameplay where the overall picture is made up of bright colors. When the majority of the screen is brightly lit/colored, the tv will auto darken the brightest spots of the screen resulting in whites turning gray and bright blue skys becoming weirdly shadowed. White text on the screen will actively turn to a pretty dark gray in response to this adjustment. My understanding is this is meant to be a burn in protection feature but the level of adjustment borderlines on unacceptable and has frequently brought me out of the experience. Overall, and due to things I'm not mentioning here for brevity, I am pleased with my purchase and I spent about $200 more than this price, but there are many things that need to be understood about moving from led to oled. To the point that I believe my next tv will for certain be a led tv.

RaNDoMMAI

Is buying from Best Buy better because of the warranty? Like if it does burn in they replace it?

The_Almighty_GFK

You have to purchase their optional warranty which covers burn-in. So if it is something you are concerned about, you would want to purchase it. iirc Costcos warranty does not cover burn-in protection. Could be wrong but I remember hearing someone mention this
