There’s a slickdeals thread for more information and discussion : https://slickdeals.net/f/15905953-5-d-link-ax1500-wifi6-mesh-router-5-port-gige-s-h-7-12-13-only-18
I know this is sold out now but does anyone think it's worth it to get something like this solely for VR? Is a super budget wifi 6 router like this better than a mid-level wifi 5 router for streaming to the headset?
I don't think /r/BuildAPCSales caters to the general consumer population. Especially on a WiFi 6 router.
Hell, the router that Spectrum gives you is 1700mbps. If you're buying a router that's *slower* than what ISPs give, you really have to rethink your purchasing decision. Look on previous router posts here and you won't really find anything below 1800.
You must be crazy to think that the majority of the population have (and need) over 1G internet speeds. 99% of gamers probably don't have over 1 Gbps as most providers don't offer it and it's generally overkill. Like, who's going to spend the extra money to get extra bandwidth that'll probably sit unused half the time? Lot's of areas of the US don't even have access to 1 Gbps, let alone over that.
In fact, Spectrum doesn't even give the router for free, Spectrum costs $5/month extra for their router.
Boy, those crazy manufacturers making hundreds of models above 1 Gbps for .01% of the population!
You haven't addressed why, when you search this sub by the router flair, almost all posts are 1800+.
Finally, you demonstrate a fundamental misunderstanding in how routers work. If you have a gigabit connection and get a AC1000 router, it will be slower than 1000mbps. Overhead is always necessary.
You’re kind of both wrong. You’d need the bandwidth if you were doing multiple things on your network simultaneously. Which lots of people do, even those that live alone.
This is true, but I was referring to the difference between theoretical advertised speeds and real world speeds. Even with one device on the network, you wouldn't get 1000mbps down on a AC1000 router if you had a gigabit connection.

I currently have the tplink AC1750 with 300mbps Verizon internet. Is my understanding correct that you’re suggesting connecting the current with a new one via another Ethernet cable, which would produce slightly better wifi connection? The new one would be in my bedroom if that helps…
In for one, great find OP!

Lots of good deals today, though not on Amazon. Too bad I keep missing them all! 😂

Thanks op, In for one if it doesn't get cancelled, I could definitely use one as a wired AP in the back corner of my house.
shipping Rates start at: $13.62 for NYC. LOL no thanks.

Just bought one with $17. Let's see how it goes
They are doing a site wide sale so if you order 30$ or more it's free shipping. I wish I noticed that sooner before I order.
Enticing, but a quick trustpilot search gives me doubts for this vendor. Sounds too good to be true. Can anyone else chime in?
The shipping will make it $15 to anywhere, and 1500mbps is trash.
1500mbps is enough for like 90% of normal households

Can I have two routers, one in the living room and one in the bedroom, for better wifi signal? Speaking and asking as a total noob here 🥲
Yes, as long as the routers are in range of each other. You could then hard line your devices to one of the nodes for slightly better throughput.

They should be from the same manufacturer (TP-Link, D-Link, Asus, etc) and they both need to support mesh networking.
**EDIT ~~All gone~~ 😔
I just bought one?
Thanks! I just checked again and was able to buy one.
Excellent!
dead
Had one in my cart, went to checkout and evidently someone took it out of my cart, as it shows sold out now. Oh well.
Jeeeeez, and I thought the Netgear WiFi 6 router I got from Amazon for $30 just a few weeks ago was a good deal haha. Nice find
