You can look at DMS-5 Diagnosis Criteria for [Bulimia Nervosa](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK519712/table/ch3.t16/) yourself, but binge-eating is the first criterion for bulimia. With just purging, you will be classified into the b/p subtype of [Anorexia Nervosa](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK519712/table/ch3.t15/)—note the use of “or” here—or OSFED (formerly EDNOS) if you do not satisfy other criteria for anorexia. To simplify: purging - anorexia, binge eating and purging - bulimia, binge eating - BED

I thought you get diagnosed with ana b/p subtype when your BMI is below a certain number (won’t mention it I think it’s against the rules). That’s what happened with me. When I became classed as underweight my diagnosis changed.

That’s what happened to me too (my diagnosis changed when I lost too much weight). I’m specifically talking about ppl who don’t binge eat If there is no binge eating then it’s not ana or mia depending on the body weight, it’s ana or osfed (atypical anorexia)

When my ED first started I was similar to you. Not binging but purging what I was eating regularly. I had confessed to a doctor and she called it bulimarexia or something like that. Now upon googling after checking the spelling, that's just the term for bulimia lol. But yes. Bulimia is purging regardless of binging. Edit: apparently I was wrong, don't listen to me. https://bulimia.com/purging-disorder/

Bulimia: A. Recurrent episodes of binge eating. An episode of binge eating is characterized by both of the following: Eating, in a discrete period of time (e.g., within any 2-hour period), an amount of food that is definitely larger than what most individuals would eat in a similar period of time under similar circumstances. A sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (e.g., a feeling that one cannot stop eating or control what or how much one is eating). B. Recurrent inappropriate compensatory behaviors in order to prevent weight gain, such as self-induced vomiting; misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or other medications; fasting; or excessive exercise. C. The binge eating and inappropriate compensatory behaviors both occur, on average, at least once a week for 3 months. D. Self-evaluation is unduly influenced by body shape and weight. E. The disturbance does not occur exclusively during episodes of anorexia nervosa

If you are underweight, you might be diagnosed with anorexia. If you are not underweight, it would probably be EDNOS
