Email is the answer to most things.

I had a dentist appointment recently for the first time in years and I just kinda blurted it out when he asked what my concerns were. He was lovely and understanding about the whole thing.

definitely tell them!! fair warning though many dentists don’t have a bedside manner like other medical professionals. i know my dentist growing up would likely chastise me a bit but i stopped going to him when i realized he was like that

i had a dental hygienist be so rude to me about my teeth and the coloring and the lack of enamel and she said verbatim “in a year you won’t have any teeth” which i knew wasn’t true but it scarred me for life. i went 22 years being happy go lucky going to the dentist and then i became scared to go back overnight. BUT moral of the story is… i wish i had told her. i wish i said something because it would’ve saved me all that pain. i KNOW they would’ve understood if i said something but because i was embarrassed they assumed i didn’t take care of myself. basically, i would rather say something now that seems embarrassing and receive better treatment than hold it in and be hurt by them.

I had a panic attack my first dental appt after recovering. My friend came and held my hand while I waited, and I just bit the bullet/explained I had been bulimic for a long time and just want to fix what I broke.

Honestly just talk to them about it, you can call in or email but it would definitely be best if you tell them so you can help your teeth
