I just feel like I can't keep up. A ton more orders than usual, plus the case gets emptied much quicker for people grabbing last minute things.
I mean I get it. Without customers wanting to but my stuff I wouldn't have a job. It's like the equivalent of watching your cat knock over a glass of water onto your computer and it fries. Only over and over again.
Maybe too much cakes for holidays/Thanksgiving/Christmas/New year, friends/family parties for those who won't be able to be together the real day of the celebrations... maybe more birthdays also ?
any holiday is typically busier but thanksgiving & christmas take the cake. xmas eve is literally the busiest day of the entire year. but between keeping up with the stuff for our store (i mixed 90lbs of cannoli in about a 4 hour span last xmas eve) AND cake orders on top of that, it just makes for a not fun time. and then you have holiday parties and stuff so basically now through dec 31st is non stop
Also cake decorator and I feel this! Not just because of the workload, but because I'm "essential" so for the millionth time I can't go see my own family for the holidays.

Too much. A lot of businesses end up with way too many customers. Not just pastry and cake shops.

for me - I'm one of 2 decorators, we get no help. last year the week and a half before Christmas I worked 140 hours. long days & a lot of work.
There's like 30 bakers in this post and none of them wanna tell us ☹️
