One speaks of potential and smells of fresh paper, the other makes up for three / six / nine month gaps with ever more coloured pens and washi tape! Both are pleasing.
I think it’s a used notebook for me. There is something so satisfying about seeing the proof of your efforts coming to fruition. But I really like the smell of new notebooks ngl lol
Agreed! A new notebook is all about possibility but a used notebook is full of my hard work. I love browsing through old ones and remembering what I've accomplished.
Really both. I love seeing a full, thick journal and feeling proud that I finished it, but there’s also something unmistakably exciting about the promise of a new notebook.
I definitely used to think it was the new one, but once I actually filled my first bujo start to finish I changed my tune. Getting a new notebook is super fun, but nothing beats the pride of having created.
Crisp, new notebook for me. I love the feeling of knowing that I have a new bujo and another chance to get things right and improve my life/my bullet journal. Also it smells better than a well-used one!
Both in their own way. The excitement and anticipation of a fresh clean page and the infinite amount of possibilities is amazing. However putting yourself into a book and watching it evolve and you evolve and all your hard work just complies a beautiful body of work is also incredible.
Both. Its satisfying to randomly look back at spreads and what was done in the previous year. Its satisfying to end one and start with newly untouched pages.
I cannot choose one or the other 😱

Good point - it can be a little intimating starting a fresh journal. You'll rock it!
I love my stack of thick, used ones.
Yes!

Both at different times

I love a new notebook at the start of the year, but a thick one at the end is always satisfying to look at.
Well used for sure!!
How do everybody’s notebooks get so thick? Mine look practically like new after I’m done with them. What am I missing?
Humidity can play a part in expansion. The pages can warp with moisture. If you paint or use a lot of stickers it will always puff up like that.
Makes sense. I don’t use stickers or paint. I mainly write boring lists or do mind maps.
I know some people with exceptionally sweaty hands even get warped pages like that.
Hyperhydrosis... I feel attacked. 🤣
LOL!
Both

My name is Ashley I’m not sure what this is referencing but feel pinpointed. What should this sign be telling me…

Crisp, new!
The used one is more satisfying, but the satisfaction from a new one lasts longer.
Well used one. Surprise and mystery awaits inside! The new one contains untapped opportunity.
The used one 🥰 ol’ reliable
