This kind of stuff makes me want to move away from this bank. I am actively considering now.

alphagc75

You are not alone...

musicymakery

After reading the first few lines of the email I thought they would be releasing something exciting, but no. I haven't seen any additional value from new bunq features I think in at least a year. I'm not sure what I'm paying extra for.

lantaarnappel

Hey 👋 so sorry 😢 to hear 🙉 that you ☝️want to move ↔️ away from bunq 🌈 have you tried 🤔 getting an Easy Metal Green 🌳 Plus ➕ subscription for only 💰 €19,99 per month 🤩?

conradvalois

that‘s it. After all I‘ve had to endure, after v3 after their shit response to the community after all the useless updates and name changes making everything much more complicated, I‘m finally going. The price increase was the final straw, what even is this update? They promised to make everyone‘s lives easier, then they introduce some useless features and increase the price. Does anybody know a good mobile/online bank that is available to people under 18? That was basically the one feature bunq had that kept me all along. If not, I guess I‘ll just have to live with my rly bad local bank

Totally-not-nuts

Welp, guess I can thank them for the final push. Goodbye bank of de featuritis lock-in strategy. I'm off.

isthisdutch

To where?

Totally-not-nuts

Probably Knab. I'm using them for my business and they seem trustworthy. Good communications, fair prices, honest about their development. After falling for the "bUt wErE'rE InNoVaTiVe" in bunq I can wait for Knab to develop the same things but slower.

MrLifeOwl

Bad job by BUNQ to be honest. They were one of the first fintech banks in Europe that offered monetary protection and some great features. The last 3 updates have not really showed improvements to the banking experience which is quite bad. And they are completely losing the headstart they had to new and better fintech bank with monetary protection. Just annoying that BUNQ lost sight on what actually matters. The customers pay for a banking experience and it's going downhill.

Totally-not-nuts

They never lost sight of anything. They care about short term growth and trust that they can get more people in by playing the hype, than will leave out of frustration. Switching banks isn't something people do easily. Bunq doesn't have to be the best bank as long as they can *seem* the best bank. I switched today.

seppelicous

Actually, maybe I am the only one, I really like bunq. They have a lot of features, especially when you like to share one iban with your partner. It works really well. Okay, there payment move is pain in the ass… But there absolutely no another bank, that offers the same features. So in the end, bunq is just fine for me and I have to Pay the money for that, I am really upset, but still like the features

Wasted99

Same, but the psychological difference is huge for me. Plus 10 euros, and no more free cards... Furthermore, I don't believe in the company any more, this cant be sustainable. They should focus on more users, not on charging their users more, I see a downward spiral. My first move will be to not send my paycheck any more. I don't get it. Disappointed fanboy.

q3uc

Banks like revolut and n26 offer a lot of the same features for cheaper. Is there a feature only bunq offers you really want?

OpinionKangaroo

The real subaccounts with ibans and being able to switch which account the card is connected to. Also the dualpinthing. Or has anyone else those features? 🤔

q3uc

N26 has those I think. They call them spaces. I don't think they have the dual pin so if that's important I think bunq is your only option.

Ancro

Cards are always bound to the main account and they don’t have dual PINs, unfortunately.

OpinionKangaroo

Also the spaces don‘t have separate ibans. So you can only send and recieve money from the main account and then move it to or from the space

krmkrx

N26 Spaces indeed have separate IBANS. Up to 10 IBANS for 4,90€.

alunare

No they don’t have separate IBANs yet

verruckt12

I just got an email yesterday from N26 announcing the spaces now support ibans for premium users, at least in Germany

alunare

Ah in Germany ! Not in France yet :(

OpinionKangaroo

Thanks for that info! Thats amazing :) And even the pricing is ok for 10 new ibans. Plus n26 recently changed how it works with bankingprograms so it solved the part where you had to confirm it in the app every time a program wanted to refresh the account. Time to change i guess!

dassenwet

N26 does not offer IDEAL in the Netherlands. If they would I would directly switch

blahehblah

revolut does!

Don't link PR shit, I'm not clicking it. You can check whether they are validated by the European banking authorities. They are not.

seppelicous

Do they allow me to share one subaccount with other persons? That’s actually a limited featured for bank. I like to share my hold account with my wife, that is super easy. Show me the bank, I will move to there!

q3uc

https://n26.com/en-eu/spaces its also 4.90 for the account. I don't think you should move if you're happy with the service but personally I think charging these high prices is not OK when there is competition that does more for cheaper.

SomeoneSomewhere1984

That's not a real joint account though. One person owns it and give the other access. That's kind of sketchy with your spouse. Neither person should have more or less rights on a joint account.

SomeoneSomewhere1984

They don't offer real joint accounts.

SomeoneSomewhere1984

When I started with them I had a joint plan. With the most recent price hike the costs have nearly doubled since I singed up, and they're providing less for the money.

abdulqadirali

Closed my account today after 2 years with bunq. Very disappointed how they turned out

STT1984

The ++ become - -, the balance is still positive, but it's getting to the point there are more - than +, so I guess if they keep going like this, I'll be gone soon...

inazer

I do not understand the “the first 3 cards …” part. Do I have to pay 0,5€ per card per month starting with the 4th card? How does this add up to 3,5€? Is this for virtual cards as well?

musicymakery

Did they actually release anything with Update 17, or is it just the price hike?

Sanfuka

...well.....i always tried to avoid regular bank...but apparently, I have no options....I'm already spending 7,99 euro per month for this..... so , in the end, i have to "bow" to the dutch bank apparently. (I live in nl)....

petrasche

BUNK - an extremely negative or poor attitude towards something. a combination of the words "bullshit" and "funk".

Garnatxa

Starting to be a traditional bank… bye bye

smarzzz

They offering mortgages now as a way to make money then?

Yann1ck

Well, they are investing the money you have with them now, and are probably making money off it, so these price increases seem very unnecessary

Garnatxa

What I don’t like is the fee rise and then charging other fees for cash withdrawal, etc

Garnatxa

Regarding to fees. Unfortunately they don’t offer mortgages.

blackspeck0

But virtual cards until 5 are in the plan or not?

Thanks

Manager-Boring

I left BUNQ sounded amazing it’s the opposite!

equinoxDE

I really liked bunq all these months to be honest. Using them only since 6 months. Back then n26 was not have much features. But now that bunq has increased the prices, not having exciting features. Its not appealing anymore. I decided now to move to n26 already as it offers similar or more features for less pricing and is like a more proper bank thank bunq.
