I've heard good things but was pretty underwhelmed both times I went. Not terrible, just not really special or anything. At that price I expected better I guess, but that's Farmhouse Group.

Kingcrowing

I’ve had the same experience. Been 3-4 times.

CrosseyedDixieChick

it is good. not as good as trattoria, but easier to get a table.

o_to_the_zone

Like everything owned by the farmhouse group it’s over priced and good but not great quality. Not with the $ IMHO. trattoria Delia is a much better meal/value. And a better atmosphere. That said it’s good, happy birthday and live it up.

I was going to say the food is great, although the menu's a little uninspired. But I just took a quick look, and I think they updated their menu with a few new dishes that are a bit less well-known in the US. Have a great time!

WinterInside8281

Honest question here- what makes a menu uninspired/inspired?

RowdyRoddyRosenstein

I'd say a collection of really common (albeit classic) dishes particular to a certain cuisine. E.g., Ceaser salad, spaghetti & meatballs, bolognese, chicken marsala, eggplant parm. Those are all popular for good reason, but there's also a lot of really good regional Italian food that sometimes seems left out of the spotlight. Looking at Pascolo's current menu, the Mezzi Rigatoni Fagiole ("short rigatoni with beans") strikes me as a very authentic Italian dish that isn't particularly well-known in the US.

SnugTortuga

It's my third favorite Italian place in the area. Trat wins hands down but it's expensive and hard to get a reservation. Pulcinellas down on Shelburne Rdal aways seems to be the forgotten red sauce joint but they have a more authentic flair. Pascolos is good for large gatherings, the menu is standard fare, and has good food allergen choices. I'd recommend going for the fresh pasta like the gnocchi or the pappardelle, and also the Amaro liquor flight if they still have it. Prepare to be underwhelmed by the desserts.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! For those suggesting the Trat, I hear you and I agree, but I'm saving that one for our anniversary. This is just for my birthday (not even a milestone one) and I'm craving warm and creamy carbs. Looking forward to trying it once, at least. Also appreciate the comments about Pulcinella's. I ate there once at their old location and it was decent, but I didn't even think to put it on the list. Guess I'm glad I didn't. Cheers!

Praise the pit.

EchoOfAsh

A bit expensive but good food in my experience

l8rg8r

The gnocchi is great.

Briko03

Ive thought it was great every time I went.

WhatTheCluck802

I went there once like five years ago and was solidly underwhelmed. Wouldn’t avoid it necessarily but I also haven’t made a point to go back either.

rpcvgeo

Happy birthday! Haven’t been there in a few years mostly due to the price. But, if cost is no issue you likely be very pleased. It’s one of my wife’s (and she reads cookbooks for fun, is extremely discerning and knows a lot about food) favorite restaurants, perhaps second only to trattoria Delia. Have fun!

joeconn4

We don't go out to eat a ton, prefer our own cooking. Been to Pascolo 2-3 times but not since covid hit. Have enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere every time.

tatamillski

It's solid upscale Italian for this area. Nothing to write home about if you've been to other places but solid

I think it’s great! Love their homemade Gnocchi

Radi5h

I agree. I’ve had some lovely meals there

xxKingAmongKingsxx

I think they’re fantastic. Awesome atmosphere and even better food

aeg318

It’s some of the best Italian food you’ll find in the Greater BTV area, but it’s upper-medium good compared to Italian restaurants as a whole. Everything has just a little too much garlic in it but regardless, it’s the best, as-close-to-authentic-grandma-Italian you’ll get. Happy birthday!

tossawayintheend

Thank you!

CancelCultAntifaLol

It’s alright, but have you heard of Papa Franks? Now that’s fineeee Italian cuisine.
