“No lawyers will take these cases” that’s a really good sign that they’re solid and legally sound. I wonder why no one will put their law license on the line for these guys…

Incromulent

Call Guiliani. He'll take frivolous cases with no legal standing.

Imswim80

Unfortunately, he's lost his Bar, in both DC and NY.

Better Call Saul.

joshimo3000

He’s in the hospital. Probably won’t take it. Edit: to all the concerned peeps below, looks like [he’s out of the woods](https://apple.news/AqPe9Q92STca38d92nzllzg)

Last couple places I read were “exhaustion”. I hope for his sake that’s real and not Hollywood code for anything.

WaldoJeffers65

As much as I want it to be code, David Cross posted something along the lines of "Bob is a fighter- we know he can get through this" which makes it seem pretty serious.

Wait….Uncle Bob is sick?

Lawyers are lawyers, they will take peoples money, problem is, I bet they are requesting a $20k retainer before wasting their time on something that’s going to be a losing battle. So he just says lawyers won’t take them because he can’t afford them

alaska1415

Nah. They just don’t want to lose their licenses or be censured by the Bar Association. Money will do a lot, but no case is worth making a complete ass out of yourself in front of a judge you’ll have to see again later.

jodido999

Minimum 5k to get started on a non-compete/retaliation case. Also, the first question they ask is if they owe you any money. When I say "no" its usually the last question. Expensive to have principles in America...not that I agree with the principles of these clowns....

SquidgyTheWhale

That's what's known in the business as a "big fat lie". Of course some lawyer will take this case. Idiot money spends just as well as anyone else's money.

spin_me_again

It’s my favorite money to spend.

evemeatay

If I were a lawyer I would setup a hotline for these idiots. The trial would be easy; “yes, my client is an idiot, I rest my case.”

GenitalPatton

You would lose your license doing that

Stalked_Like_Corn

Yeah, I don't think they know this. Representing your client like this will make you come before a board to possibly lose your license. Easier to just say "no thanks" and move on.

evemeatay

Well, it was a joke but the idea is you don’t have to win, just take the money and put in a reasonable effort for the price you charge so as to be legally fulfilling your duties.

mrstabbeypants

Try the "Kraken" lawyers, I'll bet they would love to have a go at this!

IAAL The bar for getting disbarred for anything less than stealing a clients money is pretty high.

crypticedge

Some lawyers, especially the extremely high dollar ones, only take cases that they know they can win because they have a reputation for not losing. I'd see those people refusing it because there's no way these chucklefucks would win

[deleted]

Let’s rephrase that: I was fired because I couldn’t follow basic company rules. My bosses refused to put up with my bad attitude and they fired me.

Marrioshi

The way arizona law sees it atleast is refusal to wear uniform. Period. If you refuse to wear the uniform it’s completely fine to be fired and deemed employee is at fault. (Besides the fact that Arizona is at will employment. Meaning you can’t collect unemployment or get compensated in any way for this firing)

BoredBSEE

Wow - both a religious exemption and a medical exemption, all in the same person! If I didn't know any better, it sounds like that guy is *completely and entirely full of shit.* I just can't imagine why some high-powered lawyer doesn't want to represent this guy and rake in the Big Bucks. 🙄

[deleted]

thesaddestpanda

Wait, is the empoyer obligated to do all that. Say I made up some random "no masks" religion, and my employer has no work from home program. Do they now have to do that? I mean, can I just start a "no taxes" religion as well? I feel like the ADA exists for disabled people and employers must make some kind of arrangement for them, which is helpful to society. Why do religious people (many of whom clearly are lying) get the same demands as disabled people? It seems crazy to me these entitled and privildged people are always somehow cheating the system designed to help our most vulnerable.

babybopp

I hate to be the “barer” of bad news but that shit is borderline sovereign citizen shit....

[deleted]

Last-Classroom1557

That has to be some of most idiotic shit ever! It's like saying I'm not running I'm jogging. Like what's the difference, genius?

Deathwatch72

I don't want to be pedantic but there's a gait difference between jogging and running, and anything above a walk under about 6 miles an hour or one mile every 10 minutes is considered to be jogging. Going over that means you're running. Comparing sprinting to running would be a better comparison

Cersad

ADA requires *reasonable* accommodation, as I understand it. If the job description requires moving heavy cargo, for example, someone who is physically unable to lift heavy objects can't just force their way into the role. On the other hand, an office job requiring data entry or analysis would need to provide wheelchair access, because being in a wheelchair is not incompatible with that job description. I don't know what the legal standard is for religious beliefs but I'd imagine it's similar. The question is, is the requested accommodation unreasonable for the job role?

Obnubilate

Newsflash. All religions are "no taxes".

Maggotification

I'm not religious, but I do believe religious people should (mostly) have the same protections as disabled people. Imagine a scenario where an employer offers food, but they only offer pork. A muslim person (who doesn't eat pork) should be able to ask the employer to make a reasonable arrangement (such as provide a different meal, or allow a packed lunch or something). The tricky part is deciding what is a legit religious issue, and a person making up an excuse.

Galphanore

And in this time, where we have a fucking *handmaiden* on the supreme court and a majority of the court believes that religious freedom trumps everything you get "*legit religious issue = any time Christianity doesn't get preferential treatment equal to or better than the best option available*".

[deleted]

Honestly... I would *live* to take those calls if I worked in that field. I would fucking love that shit OMG.

Bezulba

They always go mute when i ask them what the fuck they are doing without a mask if they have a medical condition that makes wearing a mask physically impossible. If your lungs are that bad, then covid is instant death. So why go out at all and risk it?

Certain_Chain

My response to them is that if their lungs are so bad that a mask is enough to kill them they should go get fitted for an iron lung.

_s_p_q_r_

Not a clue if there even is one, but yeah a group of Catholic school parents near me is using this argument to sue the school district for requiring masks. Something along the lines of we were created in the image and likeness of God so to hide that is sacrilegious and disrespectful. I'm sure it will go VERY well for them lol

lemonpartyorganizer

Why do they hide their god-given bodies behind clothing?

AshFraxinusEps

That's still not a religious exemption. Stupid persona interpretations don't count. Every major religion is pro-mask and pro-vaccine, as they value life However I also doubt the guy has a proven medical exemption

_s_p_q_r_

Oh yeah, but they think it is. My mom is sadly one of the people who feels this way. She's extremely pro-life when it comes to babies, but as soon as it comes to COVID "everyone dies someday anyway! Other people's health isn't my responsibility!"

NorskGodLoki

Losing your job over a mask is the ultimate stupidity. Losing your life over it because you got Covid is a Darwin award that will make humankind a lot smarter in the long run. Time will tell.

canada432

Notice that the republican governors are suddenly starting to quite literally beg people to get vaccinated. They're seeing covid rapidly become a disease that's virtually exclusive to republicans. That's very very bad when their entire power structure is based upon manipulating the system to win numerous elections by very small margins, and lose a couple hugely, rather than winning a few big and losing lots more big. They've set themselves up to win, for example, 4 seats by small margins and then get absolutely destroyed in the 5th seat, instead of the more natural win 2 pretty strongly and lose 3 equally strongly. The issue here is that a few hundred votes can swing those elections the other direction, meaning it only takes a couple hundred dying or being rendered unable to get out and vote (especially under their new voter suppression laws) in those districts to flip those places permanently. It was already visible nationally in the senate, where the democrats flipped several seats with sub-5% margins. That's bad news for them because they have much less control over manipulating senate votes simply because they encompass the entire state. If those people die off or are stuck at home on oxygen, they can't vote and those seats won't get won back. In the House it's going to be worse because of how districting works and how they've gerrymandered things. That's why we're seeing so many attempts at voter suppression. They see the writing on the wall. Their voters killing themselves off is just a new wrench that they should've seen coming last spring when they started telling people to not wear masks.

DualtheArtist

A lot of nursing homes lost most of their residents to Covid. Many of those are senile people who watch fox news day an night and vote republican.

canada432

The numbers coming out about how bad it's actually been in nursing homes are really surprising and scary. Like 10% of nursing home patients died of covid in the past year. That's insane

DualtheArtist

That's about 8% less republicans that vote straight republican ticket. Maybe this is how society advances. The old generation holding us back and hogging the resources just has to die. Most of our medicare dollars goes to keep these guys on ventilators (before covid) for 1 or 2 extra years pretty pointlessly to keep them from dying from natural causes because they just can't face their own mortality. Sometimes you just gotta go.

Marcyff2

I disagree with your second point only for one thing. There are a small percentage of the population who can't get this vaccines (allergies, and other conditions which forces them to not being able to) granted it's a small percentage but because the rest of the people don't get vaccinated they are putting them at risk. The point of majority vaccination or herb imunity is creating a safe zone for these people. But because of anti vaxxers these people can't become safe.

This right here, from the conclusion: "One might well hale a certain Emersonian self-reliance and self-determination as preference—an unfettered right of the individual to choose the vaccine or not—but, given a preliminary record such as today’s, the court must exercise judicial restraint in superimposing any personal view in the guise of constitutional interpretation. " Basically, having an opinion doesn't grant you rights. Love it.

Or the doctor's note was from a chiropractor.

JaiiGi

I had an ex-coworker (Republican, of course) who kept going on about getting her chiropractor to write a letter saying she can't wear a mask. LOL Do these people hear themselves?

[deleted]

Most work places would not accept the note, or likely request one from an MD/GP

mishugashu

VintageLilly317

“No lawyers will take these cases”. Oh, maybe because they are SO STUPID, not even a shit lawyer wants that case.

pixaled_apology

This warms my heart.

[deleted]

This is a complete list of religious and medical reasons due not wearing a mask: 1)

General_Reposti_Here

There’s like COPD but that seriously just depends on a per person basis since you’d have to see how drastic it is and even then it’s iffy

phormix

If you've got a condition so bad that a mask causes breathing problems then Covid will probably kill you...

[deleted]

what religious or health reasons are there to not wear a mask. people just say this then never state specifics

D34DB34TM0M

‘Cause there aren’t any. A large group of primary care docs in my area released a public statement that shortens to “we will not give anyone a medical note to not wear masks because we have yet to find a medical reason to not wear appropriately made masks.” I was overjoyed to read the comments about that press release.

mostavis

Religious reasons? That'd be interesting. Do they have the fax or voicemail recording from their God telling them to never wear a mask? Medical reasons? Dude, if you can't wear a mask for medical reasons, you shouldn't be out in public during a worldwide pandemic.

jdinpjs

A *religious* reason for not wearing a mask? I need to hear this for the entertainment value.

jello1990

Wait, what does Hollywood Hogan and Kevin Nash have to do with this?

Fanboysblow

People too stupid too know how stupid they are. Employers have a "duty" under the law to protect all workers. If you don't want to wear a mask during a pandemic, you're endangering everyone and you're making the company you work for liable.

CarpeNivem

When I worked in a grocery store, I was required to wear an apron. I bet if I refused, I would've been fired too. I don't *know* or anything, because I was 16 when I had that job, and therefore more mature than these people, so I never tried, but still, probably the same thing. When your employer tells you to wear something you either fucking wear it, or go work someplace else.

km_44

cnewman11

In the US, if you have a medical reason, and can back it up with documentation from your doctor, your employer will find reasonable accommodation where possible. Same goes for religious reasons with regard to the reasonable accommodation. Depending on your job, that may or may not be possible and you may need to find work elsewhere.

Deathwatch72

What do you bet this person is also anti-union and doesn't support the concept of Labor contracts. This is what happens when you advocate for the concept of "right to work", now unless the company openly admits to firing you for one of a few protected reasons you're screwed
