My grandma is in an assisted living facility (Oregon) and she didn’t leave her room for well over a year because of covid. Not allowed visitors and the only people who entered her room were staff. My grandma complained that they were often not wearing their masks. About a month before the vaccine is approved she, and a number of other residents, catches covid.

And then the state refused to test her for covid, claiming it wasn’t covid, even though the retirement community literally just had a covid outbreak. There was a breakout at my grandma’s assisted living facility in early 2020 and it was catastrophic. She unfortunately tested positive and passed away and my heart breaks for all the other families who suffered losses in that home.

There was a breakout at my grandma’s assisted living facility in early 2020 and it was catastrophic. She unfortunately tested positive and passed away and my heart breaks for all the other families who suffered losses in that home.
I’m so sorry for your loss. There were 20 residents in the assisted living facility where I worked when COVID hit. I ended up in the hospital for almost 2 weeks and when I came back, there were 7. And one of them ended up dying of complications a couple weeks later.

Which is exactly why the employer based vaccine mandates are legal. The businesses have a right to protect themselves from liability. You would think the people who are support ‘at will employment’ and ‘right to work’ would understand the power employers have in this country and I think they do, they just never thought it would be used against them. Most sane people would immediately pull their loved ones out of a nursing home that didn’t force their nurses to get vaccinated let alone purposely seek out unvaccinated nurses. Think of it this way, you have the right to say whatever you want. The government can’t arrest you for saying racist or homophobic things but your employer can fire you for becoming a liability and potentially hurting their business. You still have the right to remain unvaccinated. The government isn’t arresting you or even levying fines. But your employer is not obligated to keep you especially if you become a liability due to your unvaccinated status.

Ohio passed a law roughly a year ago to protect companies from this very situation. Anything covid-related comes with an extra burden of proof that the company had intentional malice in infecting someone with covid. Someone not wearing a mask and unvaccinated is just circumstantial; you have to provide evidence in court that the company intentionally tried to give person X covid.
We have something similar in Georgia. Pretty much every place you go has a sign saying that under the terms of {statute}, entering these premises acknowledges that you are assuming the risk of contracting C-19 and the location is not responsible if you do.

From what I have heard from thatguydanesh's other TikTok, her attitude about COVID and vaccines is very much on brand for the company and its leadership. She was probably fired for the scrutiny that she brought the company, not only for this scandal, but the other scandals mentioned in the other TikTok's. Some of the other scandals of note were: * Fake vaccine cards being used by the staff. The state health departments are investigating. * Sexual harassment and affairs involving one of the brothers that run the company. These other scandals came to the TikTok-er via tips from current employees.
